The MNK was the one complaining about their TP...Sorry I forgot to mention that part.
The BLM was fine and they were both doing amazing damage, but the MNK just didnt know how to manage his TP.
I actually recently went in with a friend who was new to the game and another friend who could co-heal with me just so we could have a chance on our friend participating on the fights. It took a lot of arguing with one tank and one of the dps, but we were able to convince them to allow our friend to watch the cutscenes and do the last two boss fights. Sometimes this community forgets there are new players entering in all the time and should be able to see and experience what we did a few years ago.
Another "Fun with Ley Lines" story. I was in Antitower on BLM with a summoner who didn't have much of a clue about their job, they used up all their Aetherflow stacks on Energy Drain, went to Dreadwyrm Trance, spammed Ruin III and after that (no Death Flare btw) kept spamming Ruin until Aetherflow was available again. However, the best part was that the summoner kept intentionally running to and standing in my Ley Lines, probably thinking that everyone standing in them will get the buff. It wasn't a problem yet I felt kinda annoyed, so I told them that Ley Lines won't buff anyone but the BLM who applied them. No answer, no reaction. So, I decided to... well, "troll" them is kinda the wrong word - I watched where the summoner stood, ran away from them as far as I could, used my opener including Ley Lines and watched the summoner running to and stack with me. This happened like three or four times, I had a good laugh xD
Yeah, I like sharing my group BLM's laylines as well. Usually works better when I'm on SMN and not PLD though. :-D
Something about laylines being down makes me want to stand there...
You are weird xD And people standing next to me during combat without a reason kinda make me nervous ;_;
Did my first leveling roulette with my 44~ WHM that I haven't touched in about 4-5 months. Got Dzemael Darkhold. I was still a bit undergeared and a little antsy but everything was going smoothly
Then the tank got punted off the edges by the frogs like 3 times.
Idk how I even kept the rest of the party alive, but he ran back up each time and we finished off the mobs (including the additional ones he pulled by falling) so it was ok I guess
Always nice to be bitched at by the tank that doesn't dodge AOEs that I should be spamming Esuna constantly during Aiatar. As opposed to, you know, people not standing in the bad and being able to sit safely at 80-90% in faceroll content like they should.
Done speeding people through their roulettes for today.
My second Odin run ever (pug'ed). I don't have high hopes as I've already wiped a few times during my first run, the mentor there said Odin is impossible to pug and can only be done with a FC and TS, everyone being lvl 60 with high-end gear. I commented that Odin is supposed to be made for lvl 50's with at least 95 iLvl, to which he responded "People at lvl 50 don't know how to play properly and it takes a lot of practice to master rotations.". He leaves, we vote abandon.
Got queued again! So we wipe once, Hall of Stone kinda got spread out too far and got to many people, no biggie, we get up and go for it again. And we succeed (last second LB got him x) ) Everyone is overjoyed, thanking each other for the run. Oh, did I mention that apart from me at least two of our tanks weren't lvl 60? So, to the mentor from the first part, sincerely, we did the impossible ^^ Shoutout to everyone in that run. Again - you were all awesome!
In my quest for Birds, I qued up for Bis Ex via DF.
Most groups are alright, sometimes you get the groups that derp too hard, but over all, general success. Was in a group with a BLM in particular. No newbie bonus.
We kill the first two adds fineish, slightly slow. We all hop onto the back to burn down the back... except for the BLM, who stays off the back on the land and DPSes (without Enochian, mind you... I don't think they did Enochian at all).
I type in chat that in order to damage the boss, you need to be on the back. We killed it right there, so we all get thrown on the land. I grab my add (I was tanking), and do my typical things. I see the BLM's health dropping lower and lower... our WHM eggs Benedict. I type in chat that you need to attack opposite colors. Colors swap, and I assume BLM got lucky because they kept attacking the same thing. We kill the two adds, and then go through the next set. Weather changes to wind. I type to stack in middle... and suddenly, half the group goes flying off. No biggie, it's whatever. We wipe.
We try again. Get to the back, and the BLM still isn't on back and is still casting Fire. I type out, "Hey -name here-, you need to be on back to damage it." Still nothing. We kill the back, and then the party starts talking. Apparently this guy has been farming Bis for two days or so, and was doing the same thing (on DRG previously). We kill the adds, get back onto the back. BLM still isn't on back. I type out the same thing again, still nothing. Next phase is Lightning phase, BLM stacks next to a water bubble. They get one shot, healers don't bother rez'ing him.
We clear, and we all type out at the same time, "you're welcome for your carry." Funny thing is? The bird dropped, and BLM rolled on it. BLM was second highest roll. Thank God they didn't get the mount.
Mentor roulette ; Joined Void Ark in progress, the alliance was already fighting the last boss. I was locked outside, didn't get to fight.
3 commendations.
Yeah right.
It's roulette o'clock and I'm on my SCH for some quick runs, with my guy on PLD. 60 roulette and it's Alwaysreap. We have two bards, one who just met the min ilvl and is new and a decently geared one. It's a little slow, but nothing Selene can't solo-heal. We get a little over ambitious and make a big pull with the bees and the next set of mobs, but our dps is too low and my guys runs out of tank cool downs with too many final stings going off at once. No biggie.
We pull again and the well gear bard pipes up and stays that I don't have to use cleric stance, because he's singing foes and it will increase my dps without having to stance dance.
I laugh until I fall off my chair before realizing that he's not kidding.
Even after I math it out for him. (INT out of cleric = 273; INT inside of cleric = 1100. Foe Requiem's is increase 10%. 273 + 10% = 300. Cleric + Foe's = 1,210. 1,210 is a larger number than 300.) Even with battle voice, cleric stance is an increase.
I'm not sure which is sadder, that I out dpsed both of them put together or that the guy offering this game breaking advice had all classes at 60.
It sounds like he wanted you to stay in healer stance, aka he didn't trust you, aka he thought you were the one to blame for letting the tank die, aka he doesn't realize how low his dps was to kill bees.
Typical.
Got put with two DRGs during a Lost City HM run who seemed to be trying their utmost to keep the noble loldrg reputation alive.
Particularly during the second boss fight, when they kept taking it in turns running into the Ancient attack they had decreased resistance to, so I ended up having to raise one of them every other minute or so. They must have KOed over five times between them.
ASDFGHJKL;'\
I need Eso for relic so I've been doing all of my roulettes everyday. I queue up for Leveling on my SCH because usually sub 30 runs pop and I can just DPS full time. Haukke pops, tank is new, MCH says they're on skype with the tank telling them what to do.
No biggy, I expected a somewhat long run as new tanks are usually nervous. I said I'd grab keys just to keep the flow going and let the tank focus on tanking instead of getting overwhelmed. Despite this, the tank is taking a good 1-3 minutes before each mob to pull so it takes us about 15 minutes to get to the first boss. I don't say anything though, because I remember being new to tanking and it was overwhelming. But I just want to give some context to just how long this party spent time together in this run today.
Since I'm on SCH I'm popping Eos down and running into empty rooms to get chests/keys to help speed things up. When we get to the room with the Yellow Key I accidentally LoS the mobs and aggro them. The MCH then scolds me for "not letting the tank go first" because it's "common etiquette". I informed them I simply wanted to open the door to help out and I had no intentions of going in the room or aggroing anything on purpose. It was an accident and I apologized.
It's been about 35 minutes now and we're on the 2nd boss, out of habit I mark these two because people sometimes forget to kill Jester first. The MCH once again, gives me an earful about it saying, "I can't teach the tank anything if you keep doing all the marking." I inform them they were the only two I marked and I did it out of habit and it was the only time I did/will mark anything in said dungeon.
At this point I am super annoyed. All I did was try to help. I'm sorry for trying to be nice. Yeah, I fucked up a couple of times, but I did not have ill intentions and I'm getting snapped at for it? Like... what the hell...
50 minutes later and the dungeon is over. I'm honestly surprised I didn't get vote kicked right before the last boss or something.
Expert Roulette. Got Antitower.
It was this Dark Knight, me as WHM, a Bard that was actually really really good, and a Dragoon that was new to the dungeon.
Unfortunately for the Bard, his controller dies right as we move in to fight the last boss, so he gets stuck outside. We end up learning that the amount of people that Calcabrina throws into the dollhouse doesn't change with the number of party members participating in the fight. It goes...
1: Usually both DPS are bound if 4 members; if one of the DPS is locked out, it becomes the DPS and Tank. Better hope the healer is badass (as a WHM, a swiftcast Holy + Assize is enough to break both members out immediately. Assuming they actually hit. Which of course they didn't for me. A part of me died when Assize missed entirely.)
2 and onward: Healer and tank are bound.
The fight drags on for so long that at some point I end up generating so much aggro (likely from me casting a Divine Seal-powered Medica II before each dollhouse) that as soon as Calcabrina stops with the slapstick stuff, she began casting knockout immediately after. The tank pops all the CDs he can, then dies of laughter when she jumps across the room to one shot me instead for 16k damage. >_>
Thankfully the boss was down to like 5% HP after that happened. And I must admit, that was pretty funny.
Just had a rather rough A5 (yes I know, day before reset brings out the worst kind of people, but I was ill for most of last week so I didn't get the chance to do anything more than A8 for my lore weapon token).
Didn't dps the double Faust down in time, so Hummelfaust entered with 6 Damage Up stacks. Perfectly handled Hummel though, no issues there. Enter the real boss.
Now, I'm a bit anxious when people get assigned who's on bomb duty (I suck at that), so I'm always relieved when someone else takes it. However, the one on bomb duty this time sucked just as bad at it as I and we got hit a few times by a random explosion. The first time this happened, we *almost* wiped, but before the second healer went down he managed to Swiftcast Raise the other healer, and we managed to recover. However, every dps besides me were actively trying to ignore mechanics (always fun, saw my co-Bard get raised like 6 times). Since I was one of the few who didn't die in the last 2 mins, I popped Mage's Ballad (seeing as the other Bard died again) because MP hit a low point, even with Luminiferous Aether and Shroud of Saint being popped. We managed to hang on, but I tunnel-visioned on a Boost cycle and went down as well (doesn't help that the boss was being tanked on the opposite side of the room away from the bird elixir pool). Got raised, cleared.
Rolled 99 on the token I needed, got commended for using Mage's Ballad. Always nice :)
That reminds me of the slowest Antitower run I've been in so far.
The minor issue was the healer staying in Cleric stance just a bit too long - as in they would try and heal up the tank in situations that were headed south without switching out, which compounded a bit with the tank saying he was on a laptop and was having some trouble dodging AoEs from time to time. Now, this wouldn't have necessarily been an issue if not for the major one.
The other Bard...
I examined them at one point and saw that they had around my level of gear, mostly ilvl 200 with a couple 230 pieces. Keep that in mind going forward.
With WM on, I'd see him just kind of standing there sometimes, 4 or 5 seconds between attacks. I can confirm that I saw him pop Sprint (!?) of all things in the middle of the Spriggan Doorkeeper spawns...1-2 times per pack.
On the 1st boss, he wouldn't move away from the bubbles that spawned near him. He would only target the boss during the two-spawn frog phase. When he was the frog, he'd run random directions, including directly over another member of the group.
On the 2nd boss, he simply didn't move out of AoE markers from the Stardust.
In the room with multiple Wind-up mobs and the Centaurs, the tank eventually went down due to a mix of the above minor issues and the relative non- damage from the other Bard meaning things were sticking around longer than they should. Fortunately, we only had the two Centaurs left at that point, and the healer turned pro and managed to keep both of us up while we kited and damaged the two (oh, tank had disconnected by this point, poor guy)...and his still had around 50% when I finished killing mine. We waited about 10 minutes and got a new tank...and had about 30 minutes to finish the place.
So we get to working on the final boss, and damage isn't exactly pouring in (other Bard not moving to the proper spot for Brace until the 3rd time it was cast didn't help), a number of things happen - Bard gets hit with confused a couple times, healer is trying to compensate for the damage and is in Cleric stance a bit too long again (I think they were just forgetting to switch, which happens), and the tank goes down.
Now I have aggro and the healer is managing to keep me alive while raising the tank (and for some reason Provoke doesn't get them to the top of the aggro list, not sure what happened there) until Knockout, which if there's a way to survive that as a Bard I've not learned it, since it's not usually something I've had to deal with. Tank gets aggro again, I get raised...Other Bard manages to die to something, also gets raised, I use Mages Ballad to help the healer...
And we finally get it down. And the minion that you can't sell (think it's Brina) drops. And I roll a respectable 76, the second highest roll.
Guess who rolls an 83?
The other Bard.
Remembered this dungeon run from a few months ago. I was in The Aery with either a MCH/MNK (I honestly can't remember) and a BRD. I was tanking as a DRK and was doing small pulls since we got the bonus. I noticed that every pull was so painfully long and the bosses lasted at least twice as long as normal. On the second boss the healer says "BRD pls use your skills" and I decide to look at the bards cast bar, this is what I saw:
'Straight Shot'
'Straight Shot'
'Straight Shot'
'Straight Shot'
Again...and again...and again....
Eventually I type into chat "please use your dots, emp arrow, heavy shot etc" and the MNK (he's a MNK now ok) immediately got on my case stating that 'its her first time playing an MMO' and 'This is her first class'. That is not an excuse for being downright ignorant of your class especially at level 55 and while the BRD is partially to blame for this I also blame the MNK friend for letting her play like this and not explaining how skills, rotations etc work.
3 years later when the second boss was down I was typing and I just saw in my peripheral vision the BRD and MNK charging at full speed to the group of monsters at the top of the staircase. I was still typing to them when I saw that they pulled them, I decided at this point to just watch this majesty unfold. For some bizarre reason the healer decided to join in the fun and then the MNK dragged the monsters down to me and said "OMG TANK!" and I was just like "no.". While that was a dick move on my part I was still in general shock over the whole straight shot debacle and decided that they probably needed to learn dungeon etiquette the hard way.
Anyway 2 years later we get to the final boss and whenever the boss lifted a player into the air I had to swap out of my tank stance to dps the thing down and save the player since there was no way on gods earth these guys would manage it, we JUST made it before the instant death mechanic on the add phase and my FC friend had to comfort me after I got out the dungeon. I won the lesser panda from that run, I think RNJesus felt pity on me.
A DF gem that happened to me 1.5 weeks ago.
DRK from my FC and I (on my WHM) queue for expert roulette and end up in Amdapor together with 2 random BLMs.
Tank, expecting some serious nukeage does the usual big pulls, but turns out the DPS is really really low, even with me spamming attack spells until I end up running out of MP (luckily the tank is one of those low maintenance guys that only needs Regen and Cure I to survive).
During the first boss (wich took us over 10 minutes to kill) I decide to check out the 2 BLMS, both are decently geared (~i210), one seems to be running a normal rotation (from what I can tell, my BLM has been stuck at 50 ever since 1.0) the other BLM just spams Fire IV until he runs out of MP, then waits until he gets enough MP back .. and starts spamming Fire IV again.
After the 2nd boss, 35 minutes since we started the dungeon, the tank asks the BLMs what's up with the DPS because we almost died to Ancient Holy (I actually had to use Swiftcast and PoM because there was next to no damage on the sphere)
BLM number 1 just leaves after that .. BLM number 2 (Mr. Fire IV) tells us that "he had to hold back, because he was blinking orange all of the time" and then left.
Fun thing ... I was actually 2nd on hate by a wide margin, whereas Mr. Fire IV was number 4, according to the in-game hate meter.
The tank and I had a good laugh thanks to that comment.
Needless to say, we almost found some instant replacement, and with those two guys we got the dungeon done swiftly.
Typical RNJesus: matches you up with people like that for his own amusement, then gives you a reward for your tenacity (like getting almost 50 normal ore before you get 3 HQ ones (WITH A FLIPPIN' 45-50% CHANCE FOR A HQ!!!), but then making you succeed on a HQ craft with < 50% Chance). Praised be the lord of games!
Honestly though - props for putting up with that. Most people would just ragequit.
So I didn't do Void Ark all week because I really don't like that place, but I kinda needed the weekly drop. Got my BLM to 60 yesterday and I'm on laptop instead of PS4 this time around, so my framerate is kinda faulty. That should be fine, I guess.
The run itself was smooth with no wipes but... alliance B's healer and tank wouldn't shut up and just spammed the entire Alliance chat without end... I don't think Rosemary in Metal Gear Solid 2 says "Jaaaaaack" that much... Didn't help there was a very loud exploding/crashing sound during Echidna and I froze up in shock so much I got hit by shit. At least my party understood why I didn't move for a couple seconds, we were all so annoyed by that point, good grief.
While I can only read as much from your post, you really want to use Fire 4 as much as possible as a level 60 BLM. It is actually the most mana-efficient nuke we have in astral (not to be confused with Fire 3, which is the least efficient and should never be spammed) but the real catch lies in keeping up the two buffs needed (astral fire, enochian) to be able to use it. So this player being able to use Fire 4 nonstop actually sounds like he did a good job.
Now the fact he was last in enmity of course tells us that he did something very wrong (even if quelling strikes were involved, which many BLMs only use if they actually are in trouble of getting aggro).
I always felt the need to apologize for my incompetent colleagues, but since 3.0 it's gotten so bad that I can only shake my head in disbelief.
Recently, queued in as my SCH into Antitower.
I shield up, swap to cleric and start placing shadowflare as the tank runs to the mobs. He grabs them all and moves them just outside of shadowflare. I re-place it with swiftcast and continue.
Second pull, I do the same thing, start placing shadowflare, he grabs the adds and runs off with them pulling them out. Again replace.
This happens on the rest of the pulls to the first boss - at which point I ask "Why are you pulling them out of Shadowflare?" - "That was an accident." I just stay quiet but think, an accident on every pull?
The bees in Nevereap only final sting when their HP hits a certain percent, not at a certain time. So the bards AOEing probably set them off in the first place lol.
I did a Satasha run a while ago on my alt, who is a sprout mrd. There was a mnk or a pug and an archer as the dps and a sch I think as the healer. The sch was having some connection issues, but that's fine thanks to the fairy, as long as they don't dc. I was pulling and making my marks on the monsters, the archer and pug are ignoring my marks and he archer begins running ahead of me and pulling monsters I didn't touch. I ask them to please attack the things I mark and to let me pull. The response? The pug pipes up and says 'LOL he's color blind.'
Now I know I'm being trolled. So I stop tanking, I abide by the if you pull it, you tank it motto. When we get to the first boss, I stay outside because the healer dced and what do you know! The pug and archer pull the courl. I let myself get locked out and stay just long enough to see them wipe before I leave the dungeon and take the penalty. To this day, it remains the only time I'd ever left a dungeon.
That is impossible in the way Fire IV and Enochian works. To even cast Fire IV you have to have both Enochian and Astral Fire up. The way you just described it, I would say they were spamming Fire III and not Fire IV. I say this because while under Astral Fire you have 0 mp regen, you need to be in either Umbral Ice or neither for your mp to regenerate.
Ugh, I have tanks do this to me all the time! At least we can recast our shadow flares, imagine being a ninja and using doton. Some tanks have told me, "I thought it was a mob move," but most tanks are mover tanks. You tell them to hold still, but "I gotta dodge the AoEs." Poor poor melee. :(
as I said, my BLM has been stuck on 50 since 1.0, and back then it was a totally different job, so idk about needing Enochian for Fire IV
But this doesn't change the fact, that the only spell that he was actively casting was Fire IV ... Until he ran out of MP ... Which he would regenerate by just standing there, not moving (most likely letting Astral Fire run out).
