I had a run of World of Darkness where a tank decided to pull before 2/3's of the alliance got there. Everyone else ended up on A and the entire raid wiped because B and C had no healers.
Tam-Tara. Paladin sprints ahead of everyone, pulls everything up to the first boss room, dies, and immediately drops from the group. Dick move, guy.
I had a similar experience, but with both dps who had leveling gear on. Boy were single pulls dying painfully slow. The first boss was dying so slowly that I saw some mechanics repeat themselves. I had to ask if the dps had better gear to equip, they didn’t unfortunately. Though I did inform them in where to get better gear.
OK just found some new rotation for BLM.
Despair > Freeze > repeat, Ley Lines when it's up and of course, always have Sharpcast up even if you don't intend to proc Firestarter of Thundercloud.
Seriously, people...
Yeah. The tank in my party pulled the Atomos early as well. We were lucky that most of the alliance was right behind him. We only had the tank and one other person up hitting it, but the tank refused to bring the adds back to us so we could kill them. They started tethering to one another and I thought we were about to wipe lol. But, we ended up wiping to the bomb cause the tank ran in and grabbed all three adds and brought them to the middle.
Technically that's the best way to pull that dungeon in many situations since it requires minimal healing. It can be risky however for several reasons: if you have a sprout healer (not because it's hard to heal but because they may not be aware that pulls like that are a thing or is even happening until it is too late,) most ranged/caster DPS get their AoE at 18 which is within the level sync for that dungeon but above the minimum level required, and melee DPS don't have any AoE at all yet. For tanks that want to wall to wall pull there, awareness of the AoE capability of the DPS that are in the party and a quick mention in chat about pulling all the mobs until the end go a long way to preventing a mishap like that.
I can finally say I had one of those healers now; the kind that simply will not heal you... then blames you for dying. I was leveling PLD and after cycling through nearly every CD I had, including Clem spam, I died on the second big pull. This exchange then promptly happened.
By the way, they used two Lilies on that second pull. One of them was on Rapture... when no one else but me was taking damage.

In this context, "green DPS" is a memey way to say "DPS with a green job icon," as in a healer who focuses first on DPS. Not an indication of his rank on fflogs (which, by the way, no one would ever brag about green parses there, so that's your second clue).
There are things that guy could get GMed for, but a confession to parsing is absolutely not one of them.
So its shame time for me.
My AST was at 79 and I was ready to convert a bunch of random leveling gear into seals. I first did a run with Trusts but that didn't level me so I was like *shrug* let's do leveling.
It's Mt Gulg.
I have a mix of Qitana and Malika's Well gear but for whatever reason none of my many runs with Trusts ever dropped a weapon so my weapon is Augmented Scaevan. *cringe* And our Tank, bless them is doing standard wall-to-wall so its pretty much taking everything I have to keep them and the party up.
Unfortunately we die on the first boss. I'm not sure why but once I got the Tank back up, they couldn't get aggro back and once it got to me it was a wipe. One of the dps says to voke but the tank is like 'no, just heal' to which I offer to leave because my gear is pretty jank. The DPS says we're fine, explains I was getting Interrupted (which was true) and we continue.
I end up getting us through even though all that running and trying lay down my ground aoe heal has now made it spawn at the top of the screen so I have to spend extra time positioning it but yeesh.
I have done the thing so many complain about on here. (But still got a comm XD). *grovels*
Finally cleared E4S today and it just... It's like winning a real trophy. Most of us never cleared an entire tier before when it was current, same for me, as I just started raiding with Alphascape (up to A3S there) and with no other previous MMO-Raiding-Experience. We trained so hard and tried so long over the last weeks, it really has this satisfying "hard work finally pays off" feeling. Like giving a new understanding to the game I picked up somewhat over a year ago and played so much up to this day. I'm just... really glad. Like I really accomplished something in this game.
With the growing trend of lvl 80 players not stacking anymore for stack mechanics, i really should have flee as well from this stack marker. Doing it right is not good at all for my dps when you end up being the only one dead with the marked player.
It has become my most dreaded mechanic to the point that i would want to see this in the 5.1 patch notes :
Quote:
Stack mechanics now only kill the players not stacked with the marked player.
Someone stating they're green dps just means they want to prioritize dpsing over healing, even at the cost of the run. Like tanks I've actually seen say they're blue dps and stick to the playstyle of prioritizing dpsing over tanking (this was before the 5.0 revamp where the stances had dps penalization). At best, devs would just call it playstyle differences and move on.
I saw a wipe there once or twice during Stormblood. I always get antsy whenever the bomb in the center starts to get bigger now.
The best I can surmise is that they had another Job at Level 80, did the MSQ and Role Quests with that, and then got Tanks to 80 and never bothered to deal with Granson.
I'm leveling DNC currently and last night I queued up for leveling roulette. I was expecting something fun but, it's leveling roulette. Sastasha and Toto-Rak were on a high chance of ruining my day. UNFORTUNATELY I got Copperbell Mines with 2 of the most boring bosses you can find in a low level roulette. I get a DRG and sprouts MRD/CNJ. MRD stutters behind without his tank stance, and starts attacking the mobs, I kindly ask them to turn the tank stance on but he didn't (As a matter of fact, he never did). He kept wandering around.
Since I knew it was going to be one of these runs, and apparently the DRG thought the same, we internally nodded at each other and proceeded to rush through the dungeon obliterating everything. The sprout healer that apparently queued up together with the tank didn't pull any bad attitude but he followed us apparently with the same enthusiasm healing us. Since aggro was all over the place, no one was taking much damage at all so the tank not tanking wasn't a big issue. However, during the second boss "the annoying slime", the tank dies to the bomb's explosion. The healer brings them back, but then the bomb explodes once again killing both of them this time. I kite the adds around while the DRG activates the detonator, then bringing the adds to it. Other than that, it was the only issue we faced. We finished the dungeon and got out asap.
I really wish people could read their jobs better. But at least, this boring dungeon had a different flavor to it with the "everyone is a tank now" strat.
Hi, Revia. I just noticed your reply! Apologies for not getting back to you. It was the same run. I was the DRG you mention. I remember you taking notes in chat of the explanations I was giving. You did great! I remember you had the aggro on the Faust the first time because the tank didn't grab them. I had aggro on the faust the second run because, once again, the tanks didn't grab them on time and I died. I sadly didn't get to finish the explanations or to make sure everyone got it, I was about to assignate the positions for the MT and the OT but the MT pulled. Yes, both of them were mentors and that kinda annoyed me because they should have stopped and explained things or at least let other explain. The second run did go way better other than some slipping.
You don't have to check a video for these, in all honestly. Few one-lines for each mechanic depending on your role is more than enough. Sadly, people can't take a single wipe without complaining.
Have fun getting your relic!
Running Leveling Roulette as SCH yesterday because I want to pickup my button mashing familiarity and derust my.... rustiness on playing Healer, and getting materia clusters.Queue'd into Golden Ale... I mean, Aurum Vale. Unlike every "this is gotta sucks" tale, this actually end up in quite positive ending, it shows that, when people listens, things still work out despite hardships.
Tank is a DRK which rush immediately to pull wall to wall. Immediately get rekted after my aetherflow for Lustrate used up. F"lustrate"d, I checked on the tank gear and found out its lv35-40 gear between white and aetherial, both left and right.
Unless my memory is fuzzy (which means always), Golden Ale is a place where tank should not pull everything before boss because there was like 20 mobs inside one room just before boss, like Brayfox, and was meant to be plotting a path and engage mobs only when necessary.
Starting from there, DRK start being more cautious, however healing is still heavy due to gear. I never went above 2k MP during battles.
First boss, it is apparent only one DPS is known to mechanics, Tank eat up to 4 stacks of poison debuff while another DPS 3 stacks. I was last to die, but manage to tell them about poison debuff and morbol fruit before my inevitable demise. Cleared after that.
Second boss, while thinking of ale, I might be mistaken but I told them to watch out for 100 tons swing. maybe it should be 1000 tons for that spinning swing, but anyway no fatal mistakes here other than one poor sod who got crumped the first time.
Third boss, as I am pretty drunk'ish sleepy at the time, I just tell them its almost the same as first boss, and mid chat to inform about killing spawned adds. No much issue except tank eats cone debuff, I ate cone debuff, and finally with everyone inch of their lives (mp zero), we killed it, then one DPS died in that golden ale puddle (after boss died). But hey, at least he is swimming in that golden puddle.
Forgot who I comm'ed before leaving though.
Mouth breathers, Malboro, Bad Breath, something something humor.
After raid night some of my static likes to hop onto alt jobs and do an expert roulette to wind down and get tomes. I've been going as SCH for the last couple months, and every time we queue I get a warning that my equipment is breaking. When we get in I try to repair my gear, remember that I need two more ALC levels to fix my weapon, and then forget to do anything about it before we meet again next week.
It finally broke tonight after the second boss of Akadaemia. It turns out that it's possible to survive wall to wall pulls even when Adlo is only healing for 2.5k. Who knew?
Yesterday a FC mate told us (we were 4 FC members doing an Alliance daily) that you cannot kick a member of your party if you started alliance together. I tried to convince him that's not true, and he replied to try and see...
Needless to say, votekick did initiated... and passed! Felt a bit sorry for him, but he ASKED be kicked to prove me wrong... my soul is not tainted!
Had a person that was very unhappy with me spamming holy since the tank was just doing small pulls.
They gradually got madder and madder until we got to the final boss and they went on some tirade about how WHMs aren't DPS and they know what they are talking about because they are a "white mage main."
Holy spam is a privilege AND a right. And the only reason I picked up WHM (because for whatever reason BRD needed CNJ cross class once upon a time--if I remember correctly).
I think most of the time the blinding shinies get annoying to some people. Which is why I have effects toned down and even turned off for other players.
Still, that statement though. I mean you didn't tell the Tank to pull more. Why are they telling you to heal more? I'm a DPS main who heals regularly. I don't start telling the DPS to hit harder. I just deal. Usually by adjusting my own contribution.
Normally I'm cool with both opinions but that was just out of line. Especially if you were healing everyone. Ug.
Next time maybe tell them you can't hear them over the sound of your sparkly nukes.
Having a healer who only heals and spam emotes isnt half bad.
The problem begins when you meet undergeared healer who throw single healing spells once per 5-6 seconds and doing absolutely nothing just standing still.
I got one like this today in academia, first pull after first boss and we wiped.
I yeeted out from the duty.
To be fair, more than likely the whiner was doing less dps than you since they were probably wasting their time typing out their argument in chat.
On a side note, I decided to help my friend through Prae yesterday to get more mog tomes, and he decides to go on an epic storytelling spree telling the other 6 random people about the whole reason behind the name of the Garlean empire: that it was due to the townsfolk sending out their children with garlic around their necks to ward off vampires, but were eaten by wolves mistaking them for garlic bread, and how this whole conquering business was them trying to get away from the haunting screams of the eaten children. The Children of the Garlic.
Was a great run by the way.
Did mentor roulette today and got the weirdest dps ever. Got Snowcloak, me as tank with whm, drg, and a smn. The healer was new but seemed to have an understanding of the whm job, so I pulled both sets of packs. Now this where things get weird, whm and drg are using their aoe....while the smn was just spamming ruin 1. No dots or outburst(I’m not sure what level that move is.) just Garuda and spamming ruin. So I mention in chat to the smn that their dots increase their damage, making the run go faster. Radio silence from smn as they just walked around awkwardly. I checked their gear and it’s all 60+, so I was really baffled as to why they were playing this way. Long story short, they did this rotation till the second boss. Where I put my foot down and said they would be kicked if they didn’t contribute to the party, cuz drg and whm were being good sports about it. While they didn’t say anything, they magically started casting their dots on mobs and spreading them.
I met a dragoon in Titania normal using Gae Bolg Novus (i110 weapon) and I think they were completely oblivious to the fact. The fight took an extra 5 minutes due to the lack of their DPS contribution. Brutal.
Oh boy that got the adrenaline going...
World of Darkness on SCH. I'll preface this by saying our tank (A) had absolutely no idea what they were doing but they were a sprout, can't tell if new or just ignorant because there are competent sprouts out there. Now onto the story! Uh... someone held a chain on cerberus for a suspiciously long time and I was watching. Might not have been on purpose but I'm going to drop a bit of knowledge that a lot of people aren't actually aware of: The chains are on a timer, same as any carrying quest of carry X to Y before Z runs out. Someone let their chain expire.
When reawakening was most of the way cast I had the chain in my hands but cerberus was nearly 2/3 of the way across the arena. Thankfully I was blessed with an amazing cohealer and once I had the chain in my hand they rescued me towards cerberus with the chain in my hand (yes, it works). I managed to activate the fetter and FETTERED HIM AFTER HE AWOKE. Seems as long as you activate the cast (hopefully it doesn't interrupt if done too late) it will still fetter him as he stands up. I then immediately follow up with:
"DO NOT HOLD IT"
"IT EXPIRES",
As I'm freaking out over it having made it in time at all. So yes... myself on SCH and my amazing cohealer just tag team saved the raid from wiping in world of darkness. Let that be a note for all of the people who complain about rescue's existence.
Mentor Roulette.
DRK, PUG, BLM and myself as WHM.
This DRK would not use Unleash outside of a single time at the very beginning of the run and would only single target enemies, meaning aggro was everywhere, despite stating for them to use AoE more often to maintain aggro. They had a 52 PLD and WHM leveled so them not using AoE as a Tank is inexcusable.
I was in a roulette run and got the fairy dungeon Dohn Meg and even though the tank was nearly in complete lvl 75 gear and only pulled one group (and used his CD) he was barely staying alive..then even though he nearly died at one pack he decided to suddenly tank two and of course we wiped..Since the tank was geared enough and using everything he could I was looking at the healer..A whitemage who had nearly everything at lvl 80 and seemingly cleared all of Eden savage but was just really bad at their job. I am not sure what their problem was (did not have the best of gear but that should not give them that much problems with single pulls..) but it was annoying, especially since he ran forward towards another pack instead of waiting for the tank.
Later on he rescued the tank towards his position so that he was tanking another monster that the healer pulled...honestly if I was the tank I would have kicked him at that point..First you make the run slow because you seemingly cant heal big pulls (and small pulls too) and then force the tank to tank what you wanted..
Trial roulette, I'm on gunbreaker, got Suzaku. There's a new player message, and they actually asked about mechanics, so I'm trying to type it out. Other tank runs in and pulls anyway. Nobody groups up the birds, they explode and wipe us.
Second attempt. The birds get grouped up and killed properly the first time. Then they revive and people don't bother again. Somehow I alone survive as Suzaku begins the phase change. A couple of people start yelling at me to hurry up and die to reset....except, there's no damage during the DDR segment and the walls don't fall off until afterwards. I try to explain that, only to get cussed out.
Finally the segment ends, prepare to try again......
"You have been removed from the duty."
Well screw you guys too.
