Small indie company.
Please look forward.
Do you ?
"oh my god the poor small indie company they need to make mog shop purchases because they have developers for their game" no shit like every other game ? what a discovery that games have developers, you are a genius arent you ?
And then you write this, and you talk to me about arguments ? lmao, right back at you buddyQuote:
Unlike the noisy and complaining minority of the FFXIV gaming community, Yoshi-P and his dev team are doing a pretty good job. When I see how many crappy MMOs come out with more promises than achievements. It's easy to cry foul over cosmetics.
Some people want to escape real life and play a game. Some people are rich, some people are poor. Store items bring their real-life back into the game and can remind them of the issue they are going through. I mean me personally I grew up in a day an age when all games were at face value and your sub got you everything available in the game. No loot boxes, no stores, and no extra digital items besides preorders, and those didn't normally have in-game items but other things. Some people like collecting things, well in this game if you don't have extra cash then don't even bother unless you don't care about truly collecting it all. At least they haven't touched triple traid and put any card on the store.... yet =). I have watched my favorite game franchises as a child turn into absolute garbage due to these tactics. Halo 2 was the shit. Now look at the Halo franchise. This game didn't always have a store either and I personally wished it stayed that way, but it didn't and won't ever go back. I am not delusional but it's pretty easy to understand why people don't like this stuff the only issue I see is complaining about it on forums does not do any good. You have to take your cash elsewhere but everyone has normalized paying for digital products in online games so you dont really have anywhere to go. There are a few solo-player gems that exist. I am all for paying a higher monthly fee, but I also realize that could cut down the player base that could afford to play it. I just don't like incentivizing companies to create teams since that is what se states outside of the development of the game to create in-game products for the game. Its not SE guys its that woman yoshida refers to. She is scary and yet SE is the one that owns the ip and allows this to happen in the first place.
The whole point of a subscription base game is that you pay to get the content inside said game, with the money required to upkeep the servers.
Paying for a subscription would inquire that we have something in return, stuff like content, in game rewards, etc. That's how it has always been - with a cash shop being something of an extra.
The keyword here is extra, as in "stuff alongside the stuff you already can get in the game".
If the subscription isn't enough for running this game, maybe they should stop wasting money on pointless updates and focus on what matters.
Are you telling me the multi trillionaire company, famous for games such as Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, can't support its servers without a simple sub? I ask because there are other games, that have fewer players than this game mind you, which have online servers and are perfectly fine with a cash shop AND without a sub too. But apparently an octillion company can't just run via subs and requires a cash shop.
Say what you will about it, but WoW's cash shop has a lot of actual extra stuff that doesn't matter as you can get the best mounts and transmogs in the game by simply running old content - 2 seated dragon? 2 seated bike? Hivemind? All inside the game for you to get. Heck if WoW ever did what FFXIV does there would be a riot up theirs.
FFXIV is lucky to have such hardcore defenders, to the point of actively defending microtransactions and extra features like extra retainer behind paywalls.
Because I'm fairly sure if any other game did the same, it wouldn't be so lucky.

This is kinda funny to read. Sure maybe it shouldn’t be on mogstation, but it is and it won’t change. Nor will they stop selling mounts there.
But here’s the thing. Say this thread is successful, they remove this mount from mogstation and put in in the game only.. or the next mount gets solely put into the game.
If it’s a savage mount there’ll be 20 threads whining about that.
If it’s a blu raid mount there’s another 20 threads.
If it’s a multimillion mgp mount, at least 10 threads.
PvP locking away a cool mount? 30+ threads about how pvp is trash and they shouldn’t lock cool rewards behind “mid content”
If it’s an Ultimate mount 50+ threads complaining about it, and some of you that are here will be in every one of those threads.
Yall just like to throw a fit. Doesnt matter where it “should be” the company put it where they want it and they’ll make money, whether it’s right or not doesnt matter because even if they changed it you all would throw a fit about something else.
Not defending them sure it’s a business practice that feels pretty crappy.. and in some ways is, but it’s a business practice used the world over in every industry imaginable.
But if they try to cater to all yall and your needs, this game would die in a week and the company days after.
When they made Cruise Chaser a store mount I immediately thought that this will continue.
Hearing that Shadowkeeper is the new store mount, I scoffed.
It is not relevant and it is as little relevant as putting a Axloth mount as the final reward for the final tier of savage for EW.
If want it, just get it, if want the savage one, just get it... if am determined you can get ANYTHING in FFXIV, with of course some limitations such as previous tiers of rewards, that will not be listed again.
It's almost like they're run by 2 different teams or something. It's almost like one requires far more work than the other. I don't usually do this but you and all 8 that like this are dumb. Like legit. I honestly hope you're trolling...is what I said at first til I saw your post about the "billion dollar company defense". Mogstation items are not content...
I ask this, does a big company simply being big mean we are to hate everything they do and push back at all times? Are we not suppose to fund things they do at all simply due to size? Does the size somehow negate the fact that there are indeed humans behind said company? If so then you should drop your sub because you're funding "evil big corpo".
They aren't entirely wrong though. As Daeriion summarized here, micro transactions make a sizable portion of the actual profits for a lot of games nowadays. Without them, our base sub fees would be significantly higher. We know this because other companies, Capcom specifically, have openly stated they believe the base price of games should be closer to $200. Outrageous, yeah? Well, prices haven't really caught up with inflation at all because of micro transactions—and to a lesser extent, DLC. The reality is the handful of whales and your occasional indulger make it so none of us have to pay a higher subscription. The trade off being some things will be locked behind a paywall.
It sucks but that's just the nature of the gaming industry and how expensive games have become to develop. Personally, I'll grudgingly accept micro transactions even if they are getting a little... excessive lately over increased fees because I can opt out of the former.
Doesn’t this apply to like, almost anything? It’s not like I get to keep that pizza forever, or have access to that hotel in Hawaii forever. Not to mention games/movies as a whole.
Not meaning to be argumentative, just that there are things x, y or z that bring people some level of happiness. And those things require some amount of time/effort/currency to enjoy them.
People can debate the amounts and whether it’s fair or not, but ultimately it just boils down to whether that x y or z is worth their t/e/c.
is like this
If you dont pay the sub you cannot play the game..if you cannot play the game you cannot earn those items
you dont pay to have access to servers only , you pay to play the game and its entirety.
is like a single player, you pay for the actual game
So by your logic folks mad at the mogstation are mad for no reason. If everything is paid for the only difference is where it's sold. The mount wouldn't be free if it was simply in game because it'd still cost money (and time which the mogstation avoids on the later)
I don't understand why people thought it would be for blue mage. People found out about the mount through sites like Garlondtools and there was nothing for blue mage listed. No spells, no achievements, nothing. So why would the mount be there and not the achievement it would be associated with? The blue mage update comes out later.
People thought it would be simply because of the raid boss for the next set of blue mage fights? What does a morbol have to do with Alexander or coils of Bahamut? I really feel everyone who believed that the mount was for blue mage were setting themselves up for disappointment.
Also that thing has the dumbest flight animation
This is a big part of the problem tbh across many games. Lots of people grasping ag straws then becoming overly mad when a thing wasn’t what they expected it to be, despite zero announcement from devs on the topic.
I wanna say several big companies (a more recent one regarding starfield? Star citizen? Some space game) just decided not to drop hints anymore at all because of the amount of backlash and flack they get over customers misunderstanding/reading too deep.
Squeenix price gouging on the mogstation? Must be a day ending in Y.
Best feedback to give is to just not buy it.
Course, I already have seen players in-game riding it... So... Not sure how effective that can be.
I guess that's why WoW is making it so players can buy Traders Tenders for their Trader's Post, as people will buy it even if it's just cosmetics.
At the very least, the store isn't in-game for FF14 and doesn't have WoW Tokens or RMT carries spammed in a trade chat. Not that will stop those that want to buy it, as they'll just go to the web store anyway.
DAE WOW BAD.
Btw those assets are literally the same style that exists ingame just with different amounts, nowhere is it confirmed they will be shop assets. But i bet you knew that instead of getting outraged over a image datamine. And we have something worse than tokens: flat out gil buying that further inflates the economy.
Why is the only defense you guys have for the shop is "but wow bad" when in reality the FF14 store is worse? Way more stuff to buy, both have a way to spend money to get ingame currency but only FF14 allows you to buy storage space like a 2010 F2P MMO.
Please tell me where anything I said wasn't factual.
Mog items aren't content. Fact.
They store and game are run by 2 different teams. Fact.
Dev time is far greater for things put in game compared to the store. Fact.
And while you're at it why don't you answer the questions I asked? Or would you rather parrot the same garbage your camp always does and default to throwing out more labels like children? Talk about SEs boot yet you all pay subs for the game you don't enjoy. Pot meet kettle
Hate big companies all you want. Just understand you look dumb because you give them your money at the same time every month just like those "bootlickers" you rag on so much.
You're naive if you think that tendies aren't going to be purchasable with $$. The Datamine proves it. It's odd how you're shilling for Blizzard even after they made D4 already p2w at launch with a 1 week head start and the ability to use $$ to buy the entire Battle Pass on day 1.
Get off your high horse and educate yourself next time.
And please. WoW Token >>>>> Anything in the FF14 store in terms of badness. Blizzard literally allows the advertisement of Carries and Power Leveling in Trade Chat with players asking for RMT levels of Gold or WoW Tokens (Blizzard sanctioned RMT) as payment. If you actually played the game you would know that. Course, you don't and are once again talking about something you know nothing about. As is usually the case in regards to you.
Oh so you are a just a delusional fanboy. Alright. The assets thats been datamined is 1:1 the same icon that already exist ingame. Even IF they decide to sell tendies on the store, tendies are purely used for cosmetics and even adding all the stuff you can buy for them you still end up with less stuff than you can purchase in the FF14 store.
If you didnt know, Square allows "Mercs" aka boost for gil AND sells gil in the store :)
The only one talking about stuff they dont know about is you.
"Joined Sep 2021" Yep average WoWfugee behaviour right there. Listening to people like you its as if Blizzard breached your door and kicked your dog. So funny seeing all you shills have the exact same timeframe where you joined the game.
That would be you being the fanboy for Blizzard. It's people like you that is the cause for why Blizzard keeps pushing the envelope and happily allows the promotion of carries and power leveling as it leads to WoW Token sales.
Mercs? Unneeded, and you complain about storage when the Game literally gives you 2 Retainers, a Chocobo bag, and a glam chest. Sounds like you're a hoarder and cannot control yourself if that's not enough for you.
I know you're a shill, and I joined FF14 long before this on a shared account on the PS3. This is my Steam account that I made years later. Course you, who knows nothing, would like to pretend that somehow gives you any validity when you constantly are in the wrong and cannot admit to it.
But go ahead. Continue to pretend that anything in the FF14 store is anywhere near as bad as the WoW Token. Go and wallow in your pit of wrongness, it's where you like to be.
I don't remember where I saw Shadow Wolf icon / mount roulette pic (Either on FFXIVmounts or somewhere else) and the music was the tell that this is not BLU music, this is dungeon music.
I think its flight animation looks cool, at least when "activating" flight animation and it stands upright(?). Maybe new BLU savages will get just a title and nothing else?
It could be said vice versa: It's always you, Johners, Themarvin and a few others licking SE's boots, making excuses for literally anything they release, no matter how asinine it is. You're the parade example for the SE apologetic on Copium Maximum, wherever you're seen on this forum.
You do realize expecting Blizzard NOT to monetize Traders Post is going to make you look like a fool once the buyable tendies feature comes out right?
The reason people say that itll be implemented because the same thing happens over and over again when things gets datamined. May I need to remind you that the WoW Token was datamined in Burning Classic before theyve implemented in Wrath Classic?
The history is there, youre just choosing to ignore it.
Anyway the only good thing FFXIV has going for itself is that the cash shop isnt in your face constantly in-game and isnt as destructive or intrusive with the integrity of the game in terms of progression. Only big thing I can say is that you can buy gil which is bad but at least you cant buy mgp or tomestones like some other MMOs would most likely do for monetization
The wow Shop has currently:
- 24 mounts
- 21 pets
- 1 toy
- 5 transmog sets
The ffxiv shop has:
- 36 mounts
- 42 pets (or minions as they're called here)
- 119 costumes sets
- 42 emotes
- 40 sets of dyes
- 30 weapon skins
- 95 armors
- 20 accessories
- 12 chocobo bardings
- 42 orchestrion rolls
- 156 housing items
- 2 face paints
- 1 fashion accessory
- 1 tool
I deliberately omitted stuff like fantasia or race changes and level boosting, as well as "bank slots" or glamour dresser/wardrobe.
But still, am I missing something here or are we really saying that ffxiv cash shop is actually better? Because I don't think I've seen a f2p shop loaded with this much stuff.
I think many of us excuse it because theres a heck a lot more of this stuff earnable for free that arent subpar to the quality offered in the cash shop.
It definitely sucks and Im not even trying to defend the cash shops between the two games, theyre both terrible
The real excuse everyone gives is that "they were free, so it's fine", meaning that if a new players wants the same stuff then "too bad, sucks for you, now buy it and shut up"
Doesn't seem fair to me and I did obtain the free versions of said attires in the past. But I thought all of this stuff should count as new content for new players, so now we draw the line?
Correct. Now it's not free anymore, it's in the shop for a price. New players lost their chances and now if they want those items they have to purchase them
I don't see the problem here? Are you saying that new players can get them again, right here, right now, for free?
PS: I tried to remove the "free" stuff that is no longer free. Could be inaccurate, but feel free to change. Doesn't change a whole lot
