Are FF14 players more feminine

Not at all. It attracts more sexually liberal people, especially with how good some of the glams are like the Nier set. I think it attracts people who are more into visuals, cosmetics and more casual gameplay. If I were more committed to a real-life community or family, FF14 or Gw2 would be my go-to because I can shape the game around my life, whereas Lost Ark and WoW make me shape my life around them, and that's 100% fine its just a different audience.

I think it's weird that people somehow conflate looking good, having proper hygiene and overall not being a savage with the feminine when it's just having some class and not being a grubber. Both men and women play MMOs at high rates, even in games such as WoW and Lost Ark; MMOs, especially fantasy, promote an environment that can appeal to everyone. If you don't like an activity, you don't have to do the activity. Problems arise when activities such as Torghast force you to do content because now you're wasting your time on activities you don't value to reach the position you do, and that can feel like a job. No one wants that feeling like their trying to get a promotion.

I think it’s moreso the people that wear the stereotypical feminine outfits. Like males wearing the 2b outfit with a flower crown, with makeup. Or wearing the wedding dress etc. At least that’s what i’m assuming people are getting at because i do see those quite often.

Not a flex, I'm not that gifted down there, I can't flex it and show off for pics, I barely meet the FDA approval rating, they just slapped a sticker on it that said for at home use only, not intended for public use.

It's especially weird when a lot of the same guys glamorize the medieval ages.
Heroes back then weren't said to be huge gritty muscle mountains and slobs.
Today they'd be considered more feminine, they were more like Loras or Jamie in Game of Thrones in regards to looks and mannerism ( minus the evil side of Jamie ) rather than someone like Drogo.
If you read historical documents about how people talked about kings and nobles there's a lot of fetishization about stuff like their legs and how handsome they were it almost reads like a womens magazine about celebrities.

In the end of the day I think a lot of masculinity nowdays is often treated like overcompensation and trying to prove how not feminine you are.
It's a lot more about insecurity, I've been doing bodybuilding and later moved over to power lifting for longer than a lot of people playing this game have been alive.
I have a lot of experience interacting with people who do both professionally too and seeing new people come and go, and the people at top are some of the kindest, humble and most gentle people you'll ever meet.
And I've seen so many countless people come and go who acted like they had something to prove and were deeply insecure about their masculinity and they were always the ones who tried the absolute hardest to '' be manly ''.

I think it becomes apparent too when you hear a lot of guys talk about games and how aggressively against anything feminine so to speak they are, it's like they view it as a threat to them or something.
And like they have to make sure that everyone around them knows how not into it they are.
It just enters realms of absurdity so often.

Edit : I think games like WoW and Lost Ark appeal more to that too with the more grindy and power creep, both games appeal more to try-harding and no-life:ing the games to prove yourself.
FFXIV is more casual friendly and there's less gatekeeping to get involved with higher end content.
Look at how much gold and how much irl cash that was that they spent on the World First in the WoW race, and how much grinding they did mid-race.
And then there's the extreme p2w of Lost Ark and having to have a billion alts and do hours of dailies everyday etc.

In FFXIV you can just buy the gear from the market board and it's not even that expensive and food buffs don't go away on death and aren't even that expensive, pots are quite cheap too.
And that's it really, then you're ready to go in Savage.
I think it attracts a different and more mature and relaxed kind of person while WoW and Lost Ark attracts and incentivizes more toxicity and dick-measurings.

Depends. If the mother is a miqo'te, you get an extra hairy miqo'te. If the mother is a Hrothgar, you get a less hairy Hrothgar.

You can go at your own pace and still have access to most things. When it’s like that it’s basically a comparison to story and level skips in 14. You can argue that’s “p2w” as well. In regards to the gear buying, buying an entire set of gear first savage patch day is pretty expensive, so is the penta melding. Also i seem to recall for e8s some speed runners had to stop prog to go grind ruby weapon for those weapons. I think the fact you have to go through 4 expansions worth of story just to get to higher end relevant content is pretty gate keeping.

I guess it’s just weird to me overall though, that feminine people(and i’m not exempt from this as i’d classify myself as somewhat feminine, or flamboyant) are feeling a bit insulted or sensitive in this thread but then go and insult masculinity or make weird comments about it. Not directing it specifically at you, poster who i quoted, but overall what i’ve seen from skimming this thread.Either way though i will agree, 14 seems to attract more feminine players probably due to its graphics and aesthetic than games like WoW does, although i have met quite a few people on Lost Ark and interacted with who i’d considered feminine and that’s fine. Again, seems to do more with the games overall aesthetic.

I do think the way 14 is designed with the way it’s report systems and moderation is held, that it promotes the most passive aggression out of any game i’ve ever played, and personally i’ve experienced more toxicity here than i have any other game and i mean…for you overwatch players, i used to be a Sym main before her rework which was basically asking for toxicity.

P2W is rarely a full on necessity, that's how they market it too in order to convince people to play.
I don't really agree with Job boosts but I don't think it's the same as buying ingame power in regards to gear.
The crafted gear and pentamelding is also not even remotely in the same universe as expensive, I think if you play somewhat actively you can afford it too on day 1.
The Jobs all have economy BiS too for new tiers that work fine.
I am perpetually poor and I still managed to afford it on multiple Jobs.
I am not saying that FFXIV doesn't have grindy stuff I am just saying that it's nowhere in the same realm as in Lost Ark and WoW.
Even just small stuff like respawning at the boss after death and food buffs staying after you die is a pretty huge deal honestly and I think makes for less toxicity, people are going to lose patience much faster if they die and have to run all the way back and lose their buffs etc.

I think you misunderstood me a little maybe I could've phrased it better.
I am not trying to say that masculinity is inherently all of these negative traits, what I am trying to say is that it's how people are trying to express their masculinity.
I don't think that it's masculine at all, to me masculinity is about being secure in yourself not behaving like a man child or a boy.
A lot of people who try to express their masculinity often do it through violence and being loud, we can call this a toxic expression of masculinity.
It's not the kind of it that I personally think is very healthy or positive, and I do consider it to usually be founded in insecurity about it.

All three offer different things and have their own problems, that’s becoming very evident especially with 14.

In the end TLDR i guess: You can promote femininity as much as you want and if people bring you down for that ignore em. But don’t do so at the expense of bringing down masculinity or trying to bash it or hate on it. I’ve seen countless threads like this and it just comes off as really….hypocritical? In a way.I think a lot of people in here that label themselves as feminine have shown their insecurity as well lol.

I don't disagree that toxic femininty is a thing too, usually it tends to be expressed in more covert ways through emotional manipulation.
Like crying to get what you want or doing something bad then intentionally presenting yourself to be a victim because you know people are more prone to view women as victims.
I think you see this more on sites like Twitter tho than ingame.

But I think this thread has more to do with being insecure about your masculinity and afraid of being perceived as feminine or like you have to tear it down/ gatekeep it out of games.
When it comes to gaming I definitely think that the toxic side of masculinity is more present for quite obvious reasons.

Not really about being defensive, i’m just expressing my opinion based on some of the posts i’ve seen in this thread which basically revolved around mocking masculinity and trying to put femininity on some higher up pedestal which isn’t the way to go about things. In regards to race and how people dress, i do think there’s a correlation between the two and whether someone perceives themselves as feminine or masculine. Now obviously that doesn’t mean you can just assume, but i’m sure if someone did some kind of poll they’d find things like male miqote or male viera being the most popular for feminine guys, the 2b outfit being popular for feminine guys etc.

I mean SE did release male Viera whose aesthetics are very fetishistic in the blending of femininity and masculinity.

Those skimpy designs in other games clearly is Guys playing as girl characters, and uhm...

FFXIV is actually gender neutral and does not really care of you are guy or girl... or trans... or whatever else...

Does it matter? Also with that beard you must indeed be on the feminine side yourself or something down those lines.


What you don't like about FFXIV is that it is aimed for everyone, some of the games you mention, is really not and clearly had a western dude designing them.
