There should be other ways to obtain the Field notes.

You know what's ridicolous? Ok having trouble getting the 5 star ones, but there are 1 and 2 star ones I absolutely can't drop no matter how much I try! For example #1 and #35, especially the latter I've done the fate and CE that drop it sooooo many times it's crazy, since it's one of those you farm even for mettle, and it's only a two stars note but nope, it doesn't seem to exist at all for me.

I feel they should lower the respawn timer for CE skirmish chains so they cycle through quicker. There is just way too much waiting around just to be able to spawn a certain skirmish for those that require spawning because of the arbitrary cooldown timer. I think I would mind the low drop rate a lot less if I could do more repetitions at a faster pace.

My friend finally got Menenius 2 on Dalriada run #84. Never did get a dino mount.

Just make it so that players have an option to purchase the notes via coins- 50 silver bozjan coins, or 500 coins for 5 star notes. Waiting around and occasionally tagging a scorpion or lazily farming them, is not how i imagined i'd be spending my time in FFXIV quickly losing interest, but here we are.
Also, Ive dueled him going on 5 times now and i suck at it. I dont want to duel him again or have to sit for another 2 hours bc cluster farms spawn other CEs unrelated and back up this fate in the spawn queue. It's so tiring. It isn't fun. I think imma give this game a break - all this for a free mount. It's not worth it.

I 100% agree. I actually made a similar post a while ago. I’ve gold cleared MDK 113 times in counting and it still hasn’t dropped. The duel thing doesn’t interest me and I don’t want to use an exploit to get the clear. If it wasn’t for grinding relics, I would’ve given up ages ago. At this point, MDK is just filler until the next CLL spawn

damn,i got 2 delta mount from dr, the good thing about dr is that its not a waiting simulator ,so for some its fine to do it more than 50 times, unlike LL ,steel of flame or dalrida, they make you wait for a rng

I did almost 200 rund Delubrum and never saw the mount. I played Lacus since it is out and i am still missing Lyon's Fieldnotes. I did 50 Dal runs only to get the Fieldnotes back to back but never saw the mount. I dont know this dropp rates are low, very low.....

Reminds me how Yoshi said to not burn out for the mettle stuff but the field notes are being deadlier than that

I've done about 100 clear of "Steel and Flame" for Sartauvoir note since the last patch. I had 9 Dyunbu notes drops but none of Sartauvoir. I'm spending 8 to 10 hours a day in Southern Front only trying to spawn the fate chain for 5 min disappointment.
Yesterday, 2 instances closed after we prepped the fate. The fate was in the queue but the 2 people remaining in the instance after 150 min couldn't clear the said queue. We left.

I can't do anything else. Technically i could take a break but this has became obsessive now.

I also realised i had to bite my tongue to do not answer other player when they're saying "easy, kill the scorpion for the fate to pop" type of smart remark in shout chat when after 2 hours + and thousand of scorpion dead, the fate hasn't pop yet. And i don't like my own reaction.

almost 2 weeks now just trying for dyunbu still .... never felt more cursed. Like I don't know what to do it feels so genuinely hopeless. I do nothing but kill the same enemy trying to spawn absent friends faster and sometimes no camping and brought to heal, it's beyond frustrating. I don't even hope it drops anymore I do every skirmish expecting nothing. To quote Dyunbu, "You monsters! I'll never forgive you! Never!"

Think it's mostly a problem because the content is supposed to be about time invested = rewards and the drops for these particular field notes are more like praying to the heavens. Well, unless you get really good at doing duels, but those are kind of nuts to begin with. Lyon in Castrum is particularly problematic along with the 4 star fate ones.

Just spent over 2hrs waiting for FAF/Steel chain because it kept getting pushed back. The amount of just waiting for things is absolutely infuriating.

Edit: MY TIMER RAN OUT BEFORE IT POPPED. THE CEs STARTED TO CYCLE FROM THE LOWER ONES AGAIN. WHY? WHO DESIGNS THINGS LIKE THIS. HOW CAN ANYONE SIT THERE AND THINK THAT THIS IS A REALLY GOOD IDEA. WHO GREEN LIGHTS THIS GARBAGE?

I'm comfortable and confident in saying if I'd spent the same number of hours farming dragons I'd have at least 2. It is unacceptable that 1/50th of a mount has a lower drop rate then a mount.

Current extreme mount has drop rate comparable to a field note. Old ones get a huge increase.

oh that's interesting rate,but unlike extreme though you get do to the fight again and not drop and re reque and again2 but you get totem for maybe wep or mount later day, but this amazing bojza fate mechanic make people went insane of waiting for 2hrs+ to do 10min fight to be dissapoint to not drop and has to wait again without any pity system to assure "yea you'll get it in 2-3 times" but nope, rng Inside of rng

you know i even make my way to abandon getting the field note out of frustration and doing zodiac weapon instead, it's all pain till the end but hey its more assuring

It's not just one rare drop it's many of them. I have one left to get on my main Layla which is note 45. My Balmung alt Alys is at needing 43/44/45. My Siren alt Talea is at 17/43/44/45. It would be nice if one could trade a 5 star for a 5 star but I suspect what will come at some point is an increase in the drop rate. When that will happen is anyone's guess.

The same ones seem to be the issue with 12/14/17/43/44/45 being the main culprits. At least with Dal note drops the mettle awarded helps with the Proofs of Mettle but that sure can't be said for Southern Front. I suspect I'm going to be running somewhere in the 50 run area before i get the drop if I'm lucky. She is currently at 15 and I'm planning on 2 or 3 runs a day if I can manage it.

I personally know players with a high amount of Ex Primals kills and no mount (I'm talking about 200+). And yes, totems can be exchange at a later date, however you have to wait months. Probably at some point SE will add a coin exchange for field notes.

I wouldn't bet on it, they didn't add an exchange system for the Eurekan mounts either.

But those are tradable, unlike Fran's bike. And Ozma is a guaranteed drop when you clear BA.

I join people on this, I've been trying to get note 14 for far too long and the drop rate are abysmal, and what makes it worse is the spawn time.
At least do something to make our time worth. like making it so that people at rank 25 gain a decent amount of mettle in bozja southern front, so that farm is not totally useless. Last Saturday, I spent 5h40 in bozja to get 2 spawns, and about the amount of mettle I would have gotten with 2 or 3 fates in Zadnor. If we could at least get enough mettle (maybe not as much as in Zadnor, sure, still more than we get now) to see our mettle bar rise, so we could farm for Proofs of mettle at the same time, it would be a little better than the total waste of time it is right now.

Maybe it would also remove the afkers problem, or at least reduce it.

The cooldown on these things are just depressing.

The bike comes from the achievement "A Complete History" which means that the only way they can make the bike more easily attainable is if they allow purchasing of the requisite field records. If it were a direct drop they could throw it into a moogle tomestone event, but otherwise there isn't a good way to do it.

The bike is honestly not worth the effort needed to get it 100%. It just turns into sunk cost fallacy to try to keep grinding for it unless someone decides they want to get good at doing duels, as that solves at least part of the problem. However, the duels are intentionally very difficult and/or time consuming in their own right, and require a lot of prep to even perform.

And FYI, it would be an act of god at this point if anyone has all the field records and doesn't duel. 4 star and up logs are no joke and it turns into a super high grind RNG fest no matter how you push it.

Looks like there is only two instaces currently up on Crystal and they both were in progress of killing the CE associated with FAF. Time to wait an hour or three. Such joy.

FYI getting the bike from the achievement along with the field logs is less an achievement and more of a scratch-off ticket raffle unless they add them to the NPC to purchase using the bazjan clusters. We can basically just throw it in the pile of "things wrong with Bazja" that we've been dealing with since they released it. First it was the relic grind being more efficient outside the instance, then it was not giving people mettle when they first did DR so people basically got slapped with tons of lost progress just doing the first run. The only phase that hasn't blown up is Zadnor, and that's mostly because of lessons learned from the first two, but they still haven't buffed mettle gain for people over Rank 20 doing Bazjan Southern Front and you need to do that to get the superstition fragments for solo grinding.

Oh yeah, and you got to do Castrum for the superstition frags and possible the Lyon Field Record, which from my attempts must have a single digit drop rate of 1-5% or something. It is super bad. That and people get salty when you don't save all the prisoners, since I think you need to save at least 5/6 to get the higher grade superstition fragments.

I don't even mind the RNG. Like right now due to circumstances out of my control I literally can't pull the metaphorical lever even if I wanted to.

What makes me even more upset is that people defend this as good content. How is waiting for something good content?

Some enjoy stuff to hunt, also, probably most got all the field for places like South Front when it was current (I did like that) and were leveling chars and the like.

Look this is no different than trying to get a EX mount earlier than intended. They will make it easier down the line to get this. Don't burn yourselves out over this to have it NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW.

There is one big difference. With EX mount, with a team, you can retry it as soon as you finish one. here you have to wait for 1h cooldown + the time for people to spawn it. in average, that around 1h and an half. (At least for 12/14, which are the one most complained about). keeping that drop rate with the thing spawning more often would please a lot of people. You're right, it's like extreme mount farm... With a 1h30 timer, where you have to stay in bozja or else you might miss it. Bozja that doesn't give you anything worthy during the wait.

The stickler to the mount from Bazja is that it has all the baggage of an RNG system attached to it without any kind of pity system or grind system in place to assure after X amount of time is spent, you get the item. Personally, I'm not a fan of gacha games, but the one thing that I did like from Genshin Impact was the pity system where after X number of random rolls, you were 100% assured to get a 5 star character or item. Unfortunately, a pity system probably wouldn't work for Bazja since once it goes into being legacy content there wont be enough people running it to hit the pity on a good clip. The only option would be to sell the field records via the clusters (which probably should have been done from the start).

The likely reason we haven't seen them sell the field records for the clusters is that they wanted to try adding more hardcore elements to the bazja system by making the harder to get records attached to duels. So effectively it's really more a "savage" mount than a mount that the everyday player can get. Considering what people usually say about duels it's not surprising people are complaining about the drop rates.

Anyway, here is what I recommend doing in the meantime to make this easier of a grind:

1) Play tank and use the spirit of the martialist to farm Zadnor first until you either get all the records from it or max merits. The martialist damage boosts are the easiest to get boosts and if you play a warrior or paladin, you have enough sustain and defense to survive the fate grinding and CEs.

2) Go back to Southern Front and farm for any that you didn't get the first round. At this point you should have 10 HP merits, 10 DPS merits, and 2-5+ healing merits. That should give enough survivability to use budget fragments for the fates, and for leon you have to do castrum anyway so you'll get more "of the beast" and "of the blood sucker" boosts from the superstition fragments.

Avoid buying the Superstition Frags from the market board, they are probably 100k a piece at this point and not worth the gil being spent.

They could use coins ans/or clusters to have in a increase drop rate buff for it. Or have a option is you have a set number of old notes and exchange them

I just gave up honestly. I hate this map, I hate the cluster farmers who are blocking the fate. So, I bow out.
A "free" two seater isn't worth me losing interest in a game bc RNG in a terrible map that rewards nothing. I've tried the duel, can't do it thanks to ping and internet issues.

to those who suggest it'll get easier or they'll up the drop rates much later (with fingers crossed 5.57 tomorrow) I appreciate the sentiment to not burn yourself out but if you don't do this before next expac good freaking luck. Especially for any of the notes locked in Castrum, DR, or Dalriada as even scaled and nerfed I don't see getting through CE's easily solo if at all or doing any of the duels once the zones are more dead then not.

I feel like Dalriada is the only issue when it comes to low-manning Bozja content as the electric floor after the first boss will quickly kill you even with the bloated HP pools from the echo buffs, which basically requires that you have at least six people to clear the instance.

The CEs can easily be solo'd as the echo buff will boost your HP/damage by around 400%, which when coupled with Beast/Bloodsucker for lifesteal makes you virtually immortal.

Castrum needs a group too, even if small. But the problem is the drop rate of the notes. If they don't increase it or give us any other means to complete the collection, for me there is no point in wasting months of time running Castrum and Dalriada over and over for nothing, same as others are feeling with some skirmishes/CEs.

Well, it looks like they at least addressed the difficulty of getting the notes for Dyunbu as they now drop from all of her associated FATEs, not just the last one.

I find it odd that they didn't actually fix some other things like the wacky northern FATE scaling in Zadnor or Menenius' forced march debuff glitching out, though it could just be that this update was on the backburner for a while already and they didn't have time to sneak in fixes for everything.

The DR change is a welcome one, but...

The following adjustments have been made to the Bozjan southern front:

Field Notes on Dyunbu have been added to the possible rewards for completion of the skirmishes "Brought to Heal" and "No Camping Allowed."

Treasure chests that appear after freeing hostages during the critical engagement "The Battle of Castrum Lacus Litore" will now yield more forgotten fragments.

The amount of mettle earned for completion of the critical engagement "The Battle of Castrum Lacus Litore" has been increased.
