If only that could be done.
Then the healing could begin.

Don't worry Yukino. You'll find him again on the next thread he makes for being kicked out.
He actually did a name change before I was able to tell him here that it doesn't matter - even if you name change and move servers the Lodestone tracks by your game ID -- out of curiosity I had his Lodestone open to see what gear he had that allowed him to rip aggro from the other tank, and today that tab is still there and refreshing it just gives his new name (plus he's in the same FC as well as the name isn't really changed...).
To OP, I do hope you take the advice others have tried to give you. Many were far kinder than the usual people you'd meet in other MMOs like WoW, etc. I don't even think the crux of the issue, or the reason for 20 pages+ of comments, is that you're bad at PLD. Everyone I think can excuse bad play even if they decide to kick for it. What makes people upset is your refusal to admit your faults - not even the need to learn from them (some people refuse to learn), but really just the flat out refusal to admit you were playing badly and deserved the kick. Humility, I think, is a checkbox that needs to be checked in this case...
Sigh...
Fun fact - I'm at work right now and I just burst out laughing and shot water out of my nose. Everyone looked at me like I'm crazy. Well played.
Gods work here. Thank you. If you need a PLD for anything. Let me know
Did you get help yet?
My reddit fu is awful. Can i get a link to it? or a title to search easier?
You absolutly can report people if you have a strong reason to believe that they are playing in a way that is disruptive on purpose. Not using key abilities, stealing aggro, moving the boss all the time resulting in the party getting killed over and over again, and also refusing to communicate are all signs of your party being trolled. Especially in a Lv.70 8-raid environment where basic MMO etiquette is welcome.
It will be up to the Game Master to decide if that behavior was intentional, but if that player gets reported multiple times on a regular basis, there's a good chance for them to be given a warning/ban at some point.
You started a thread craving for attention. You got what you asked for.
If you are not happy that people got back to that episode 6 months ago about you showing how bad you were (already craving for attention back then, and also hiding the full story), that people from the other viewpoint came to share their experience with you like you did, or that people are fed up with your attitude when it comes to receiving advice on how to play, then don't start a thread.
In short, don't create a thread to get people's attention if you only want to cherry pick what kind of attention you get.
So next time, just report if you think it's justified, and move on. No need to come to the forums.
Sorry its not an abuse of the kick system because your playstyle obviously differed from theirs. Also commendations don't say anything about if you are good or bad as a player.
Did they have to write something like this? No. Did you maybe provoke it if you wrote something like "i don't need any teaching cause i have over 250 comms."? Most likely.
if Making a reddit post is any better drawing more attention it's like all of you are obsessed with me, and to be fair i'm not too happy about my name not being blured, at least i was kind of enough to blur the persons name when they sent the message, after taking a day off the forums and also researching info about my class etc, all i ask now is to just let this thread die off there's not point to continueing it.
People are very sensitive these days. Honestly you're better off letting it slide off or at least have some fun with it. People in a run don't like me? I spam emotes, especially the ones I made using macros, and leave them to their fate ;) It's been a while since I've had drama in a dungeon/raid though, except in Heaven on High a while back because I didn't feel like chasing silver chests and made a post about it. People just play different is all.
There is a difference between "people playing different" and "people playing in a way that prevents the rest of the party to clear the content in question".
I suppose you're trying to be nice to the OP here and I agree with letting that insult slide (or just reporting it silently) being not to bad of an advice, seeing how this got blown out of proportion a bit, but the subtext of "Just do what you want and dont care what people say" is really bad advice, specially in this case.
I dont know if you went through the whole thread, but you basically just told someone who was offtanking, yet in tankstance and spamming their aggro-combo, stealing the boss from the actual maintank, then proceded to place the boss in a manner that turned 90% of the arena into "the floor is actual lava that will kill you" instead of only about 50% and consequently caused a wipe - while also not responding to anything his party said to him... and you told that someone that its okay to just play differently.
People did not "didnt like him", because he was playing a Roegadyn or because of his glamour, but because of his actions which were directly harmful to the success of their run. His actions already appear as griefing and harrassing - add silly emote-spam to it, and I can only hope the GMs will see it the same way. That party would have been better off if he left them to their fate, because that fate could have easly been: Get a tank in who knows basic gameplay at level 70 and clear the raid.
If people in a run didnt like me, my first thought would be "Okay, what could be the reason for that?" and only after I have definitly established that the fault doesnt lie with me - if anything, by asking my party if they'd like me to change anything about the way I'm handling stuff right now - I'll conclude that they are a bunch of jerks who can look for a new tank/healer now.
Dont get on a high horse before you've figured out if you actually belong there - making fun of people who are legit upset about you because you're the one whos wiping them or making them all work an awful lot harder is the absolute worst thing to do in such a situation, because it shows that you lack one fundamental skill thats required for any group-content: team-work.
A paladin opener can vary between starting off with casting Holy Spirit - or with your actual offtank-melee-combo and you applying your DoT. You can also play differently in terms of actual skill in the sense of how well you manage to time your buffs and dots and how often you remember to use support-skills. Thats all "people play different".
But at somepoint its not "playing different" its "playing bad". Spamming aggro-combos when OT is playing bad, not "different".
As RDM you can play different in the sense of starting with your Thunder/Fire-casts or Stone/Wind - starting with your melee-combo and only hitting that while never touching your casts is not "playing different", its playing bad.
...there is a huge difference between having a slightly different, but legit approach at a class and just plainly ignoring 70% of your skills and not really understanding the other 30%.
Please - dont go around and tell people who need to improve that its okay to play different, because then they'll feel validated.
Tell them that its okay that they still need to learn - and if you can, help them with that!
But while we can kick for something called "Difference in Playstyle" that doesnt mean that the person who got kicked for that just picked an approach the party didnt like - the real reason they got kicked might very well have been "horrible playstyle", but obviously SE cant say that.
In short: Dont support bad playstyle or harrassing behaviour.
You already knew what was going to happen. You even said this 6 months ago on a similar situation.
Besides, trying to blur your name hoping that nobody would get the full story, who you are and what you did in the past is not something that plays in your favor. In fact, it makes things worse when people discover the truth.
You made this thread to get the community's approval to blame someone for being mean to you. If you can't accept that you are also going to be put in the spotlight as well, then don't create these threads.
Again, don't seek people's attention if you are not prepared to get criticism for what you did, regardless of what you want to complain about. You can't just expect people to go your way and pity you, without having them trying to find the full story to see if pity is indeed deserved or not.
Remember it next time you feel the need to start a drama on the forums.
Edit: Not gonna do another post. What is being said is that this is how other people feel when they play with you. And since you are being unresponsive to people telling you what to do or not do, it reinforce their feeling. And when people start seeing you basically as a troll, while you claim that you aren't one, then it's time for you to consider the fact that you are doing something very wrong for them to think that way about you.
I do hope that the OP has more success with PLD, but it looks like they boosted a DRK and so that's a whole new can of worms. My advice would be that DRK will require even more effort than PLD, and to just try to stick with PLD, learn the OT rotations, etc. instead of embarking on a whole new tanking style with DRK - but then again, it isn't my $25 ^_^v Good luck, however, and though I don't agree with your hubris or lack of responsibility taking, I admire your will to continue in a tank role.
Consider this, what was discovered was so hilariously bad it became entertainment for two huge communities. That's not something that should be swept under the rug, that's the birth of a legend.
Embrace your legend. You've certainly earned it three times over, and have personally worked to boost your image with such classic one-liners like "I have 250 commendations, I know what I'm doing."
I merely regret I wasn't there to see any of this in person. People are focusing on Omega, and I wish I was there, but I *really* wish I'd been a fly on the wall for Rabinastre.
Like I said before though, fire your free company for failing you this badly. They're terrible for letting you get this far in this condition. And oh dear goodness, learn to take advice and criticism to heart or you'll inevitably be entertainment again.
You obviously still need to work on your communication skills. I highly recommend you re-read Vidu's post, because you took everything she said out of context. Her point was- your playing style was so unapologetically terrible that it's impossible for people to tell if you really are just that bad or if you were being that bad on purpose to grief the rest of the party. And that adding emote spam to it (as redcurrant18 very poorly suggested you do) would only add more weight to the "he's probably trolling us" belief.
Agreeing with reducrrant18 in this case is a mistake. Please reconsider it. Don't side with someone just because he patted your head and gave you a cookie and told you not to listen to those meanies on the OF or you party. In this particular instance, the meanies have a valid point and you have a good lesson to learn from it if you are willing to listen.
So this thread didn't reveal only 1 problem player but 2. Interesting.
Exactly.
There's a phrase 'my right to swing my fist ends at the other man's nose.' Or something like that.
It's fine if your rotation isn't perfect or you make mistakes here and there, but when what you do keeps the group from succeeding there's a problem. As far as spamming enmity as the off tank, I can see someone doing that JUST ENOUGH to make sure they're number 2 in enmity so that if the MT dies the boss goes right to them, but that's it. Like you say doing it until the boss turns to you is bad.
Sure people have a right to 'play how they want' but in cooperative content like this, other people have a right to dismiss you if you're not up to snuff. So far in Alphascape I haven't seen ANYONE get vote kicked unless they disconnected and didn't come back within a couple minutes. Including Chaos and Midgar runs where dps was so low the aether meter got up to 98% before the dps check was cleared, but nobody was getting kicked.
Flukes may happen here and there, but if someone is frequently getting vote kicked for poor performance, the problem probably isn't with the rest of the group.
Now I'm not saying kicking should be the first recourse, offer constructive criticism and advice first. Like 'go sword oath if you're off tanking' or 'keep heavy thrust up on the boss so you'll do more damage' or 'use your aoe on track packs.' Or whatever for the situation, but if people refuse to take helpful advice and continue to drag down the group, don't carry them.
I wasnt even replying to you at that point, but to redcurrant18 because I was considering his advice to be a bad one and wanted to comment on that.
You might not have been intentionally griefing, but never the less: It were your actions that caused the wipe and it were actions that could very well be interpreted as "Oh, this guy is just trolling". Your party cant read your mind to know that you just dont know what you're doing.
They could read that, if you'd only type it out in partychat and ask for advice though.
I'd very much advice you to start working with your parties - letting them know that you're new and trying to improve and would welcome (polite) advice could go a long way.
Instead you choose to agree with someone whos suggesting to even make fun of the parties you're in once they signal you that they dont approve of you or your playstyle - bravo! You obviously still dont understand what your fundamental problem is.
Even if you blurred out your name in the screenshot the OF still displayed your name for us all to see until you removed that character from your profile. The reddit post was made because this entire thread turned into something hilarious, mostly due to your denial. You put yourself out here for everyone to see trying to get pity over a single kick from df and are now upset that the whole story came out.
You could have chosen to simply report the person who insulted you and moved on with your life but you decided to post it here. You got called out and immediately got defensive, refusing help from those who offered it acting as if something as irrelevant as player comms somehow equates to skill and then once you realized that no one was on your side you throw out the big bad word "elitist" and continue to act like the victim. You would have been better off keeping quiet once the full story came out if you didn't want to accept any advice from those nice enough to offer it to you.

can't wait to tune in for the next episode
Oh lord I didn't realise how helpless this guy was. I didn't really go through the whole thread but like...this is basic tanking 101 stuff. Maybe a trip to the Hall of the Novice would be helpful here...it exists for a reason...Even I used it back when I had no idea how to play anything other than DPS. This is a mess. Warp to Aleport and take a right when you exit the gates. You'll be there in no time
https://img.finalfantasyxiv.com/t/59...4227dfdc2e.png
Funny thing is that the Hall of Novice basically gives almost every instructions you need to do in specific roles, yet not many choose to do this to learn something.
Found some links that would be helpful to OP as well, God knows I was an awful tank before I sat myself down and took the time to figure everything out before going back to parties:

Really most of the drama I get into is superficial stuff but when it comes to the basics I don't deal with that. *warps out*
Report him definitely that straight up against the ToS
While that will "fix" this situation, he'll run into more vote-kicks (for good reason, read the thread) if he doesnt also re-think his approach at his class, teamplay, tanking and the game in general...
Report insults for sure, but self-reflection can go a long way here
https://media.giphy.com/media/26DN6S...9WwM/giphy.gif
Oh man, I already heard about that thread and how whiny the English forum is in general... xD
But of course, the "evil" elitists are the real problem of the FFXIV-Community
First of all: I'm pretty sure that deliberate griefing (displaying his level of deliberate incompetence pretty much falls under that category) of groups is a bannable offense.
It rarely comes to that because groups are way too impatient. They typically kick you after you've caused 2 wipes. That is not enough for a GM to take action on, esp since deliberate griefing isn't always easy to distinguish from real incompetence. It's virtually impossible to do so in small sample sizes.
So, the punishment is the group giving him the boot.
End of story.
Insults are a no-go. No matter how idiotic or how troll-y someone is, you do not insult them.
Stay cool, kick and move on. Kiddos like that are not worth it to get your blood pressure up in arms.
Keeping your wits about you and remaining objective just underlines your own superiority. :D
For instance: your friend could have written:
"Sorry [NAME], it is not possible to complete this encounter with a tank of your abilities/knowledge. Please read up on your class, the encounter and how to communicate with groups to ensure future success."
It's basically the same message but wrapped in ice cold politeness that, if I were the recipient, would sting 100x more than "You play like shit lol!11".
