I'm really disappointed in the lack of male glamours, I would definitely be willing to spend money if they added something that wasn't a dress or kilt

The whole shtick of 'sex sells' doesn't apply when its a fairly inconsequential boss that literally does not affect the revenue at all. I sincerely... SINCERELY doubt anyone started playing the game because they saw a picture of Lakshimi's tits.
So... why? Because right now it sounds like a few males higher up on the totem pole think it's ICKY to look at anything other than hot girls.
It is confirmed. Yoshida himself said in a interview that designing sexy or cute outfits for male characters makes their male developers uncomfortable. This is why they have decided to leave the creation of the male bunny outfit to their female developers. I reckon there arent as many female developers as the male developers, hence its taking soo long to see the male bunny outfit in the game. This is also why I lost hope for any other male glamour, because the producer of FFXIV himself basicly confirmed it.
I wish there were more male glamour, heck I campaigned for it on this forum and reddit many times, but as always, SE will tell us that they are listening, but nothing will happen. When they release the male bunny outfit, I wont be suprised to see it uni-sex or a another new one for the female characters. I mean think about it, we have been promised more male exclusive glamour and male bunny outfit since end of January 2015. In a month or two it will have been 3 years since we have been waiting for more glamour. Yet in that time, SE released alot of exclusive female outfits even gave those with female characters extra hairstyle.
Actions speak louder then words and Square Enix and Yoshida has shown where its priorities lie.
If anything, the game could use less kawaii outfits or outfits for cat brothels
There's already stuff like the coliseum outfit in-game that shows off a large portion of the male physique. I'm not sure why a bunny suit would be any different, especially since the male version should just be a pair of bunny ears, a bow tie, a pair of tight pants and some smart looking shoes. Which is arguably the 'standard' male version of such an outfit in various forms of media.
MORE GLAMOUR PLEASE!
It's kinda sad im seeing myself going back to ironworks and LOTA sets .... ><;
I don't really buy it as an excuse. Aside from being unprofessional it doesn't explain why there's a severe lack of unique glamour options for male characters across the board. There's other routes that they could explore if they're so averse to making 'sexy' gear for male characters. Many people - myself included - aren't even focusing on the 'sexy' angle in regards to our requests. Maybe something is being lost in translation? They do realise that we don't just want stuff like the Gold Saucer outfit...right?
I, personally, want more outfits based on what iconic Final Fantasy protagonists and antagonists wear as well as more smart looking tunics, suits and so on. It just feels really 'off' to me. They've even joked about glamour being the true end game which is something a lot of players have been saying for a while. It keeps them invested - so they're well aware of how high of a priority it is for many players.
Kind of agree. One of the complaints I hear from my tank-maining friends is that there aren't enough good designs of armor. But I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason behind that is that they'll have to cut out half of it to make the women look sexy in it ala the DRG 50 AF set so they just design it from the get-go with that sort of thing in mind. The Lore tank set's cleavage comes to mind, as much as that set's one of the nicer looking armors imo. So of course, if that's their (assumed) design policy, the men will get shafted in the process by definition (and a lot of the ladies too, ultimately, if they're not into the sexy/cute look either)
Especially since she is not even a human thus why does she even need to be cute? And I am quite sure that she did not just look really ugly in the old version (and if she did then who would care...I mean the male bosses dont always look just handsome too). Its not wonder that we Au Ra females look so much different from the art works.
+1 support. Also still waiting for the male bunny set, pretty sure a good number of our male character friends would love to have it already.
Which is a real disappointment. Male Au Ra, at least, can be designed to look more like the original concept art...but more customisation options for every race would be appreciated. The thing is, we have two 'clans' for every playable race. I don't understand why they did not make one clan vastly different to the other. That way those who wanted 'savage' looking Au Ra could have been appeased whilst those who wanted 'cuter' Au Ra could also have been appeased. It's very silly that the differences for every playable clan other than Hyur is literally just different colours.
I am not looking for "cutesy" or even "sexy" gear for guys... I just want more options that aren't friggin dresses/robes/tunic/long coats.
I want more stuff for ALL CLASSES/RACES in the same vein as the Miqo'te starter chest. Something that doesn't go below the waist, doesn't have unnecessary swathes of cloth dangling from it, doesn't have long poofy sleeves, and also isn't essentially bare-chest with a strap/strip of cloth/tattoo.
Give me more male body slot items that are short sleeved or sleeveless and aren't some kind of pseudo-dress/long coat. Stuff like this:

Unfortunately half of what's shown in the pic is restricted by class/job or race.
So, what are the chances this patch is gonna do anything to solve our problems?
This. So much.
Anything where a "unisex" item is modelled differently for male and female characters, I would much rather be able to access the male version (without having to play as a male character to do so).
It makes no logical sense, but a skirt-over-pants (eg. Hall of Novice gearsets) is essentially a male-exclusive item, because all the female versions get the skirt only. Eventually there's the Infantry Skirt, but that's locked to DoW and has a very specific colour scheme.
There's nothing un-girly about wanting the version of the costume that doesn't let people see up your not-sensible-for-combat skirt... But yes, a toggle option would be wonderful.
More skimpy outfits for the boys!
I'm going to temper my expectations but I'd definitely like to hear some updates regarding the issue during the upcoming Live Letter.
funnily enough i tried making a revealing glamour for my character a few days ago with little results that i was actually proud of or enjoyed. we desperately need more variation in short length (still waiting on my booty shorts) and simple SHIRTS that are tailored to the male physique, eg; open chested tops (moonfire faire top is still one of my favs), tops that show off arms, etc. fingers crossed tho :v
edit: so remember those sky pirate healing/casting pants i was talking about that already have the hem in place for shorts for men...? well...

while editing these i found that they're actually a little shorter than the default underwear, but i'm not complaining :')
Oh god, I need these in my life. I mostly use the Black Summer Trunks you get for the cascadier voucher, or one of the colored variations from the first Moonfire Faire when I need booty shorts (Which is almost every glamour. Some people don't like shirts; apparently Lukh'a doesn't really like pants all that much), but I'd like a little more variety in my options than just the one model in a handful of undyable colors...I was very confused when I saw the Sky Pirates casting/healing pants for the first time, because they're so weird and ugly as-is, like they wanted to give everyone booty shorts and someone edited tights into the male model at the last minute, as if booty shorts over STOCKINGS were somehow manlier than just plain shorts.
And meanwhile, they gave us the Yafaemi chain hose of fending and maiming 100% 1:1 as-is identical to the female version, bootyskorts, thigh-highs and all...What does SE have some sort of weird bias against male characters EXCEPT for tanks wearing shorts? I'm so confused...
We appreciate that our players are asking for more glamour options. However, the vast majority of our employees who work on these items treat their job like a hobby and feel that making attractive and sexy clothing for men is icky. But there will be one $20 male scion outfit coming to the stores for men only so we can keep pretending this system is fair and sensible. Please look forward to it.
To be fair, I think a lot of people focus a bit too much on the whole 'skimpy' gear angle. We should definitely get more of it over time and the developers should not be unprofessional about designing it. We also need the promise to add the 'bunny suit' to be honoured as it has been a considerable amount of time since it was first announced.
Putting all that aside, though, we also need more variety in general. We need to make it clear that we want more than just 'skimpy' gear for male characters and that even if the developers aren't going to be designing it for male characters there's absolutely no reason why they can't throw us a bone elsewhere by giving us different flavours. It wouldn't be perfect, but we'd still be getting something.
Overall agree, it's not difficult per se to make a revealing male glam right now, it's basically emperor's new shirt + coeurl briefs (/subligar). What's missing is the same dedication to varied and quality gear models that make male characters look good/enhance male features (same as gear that emphasizes curves) or allow for androgynous looks the way girls can choose tomboy/girly.
Currently, most unisex gear do a good job covering fully-covered looks (long robe/coat, plate armor), so I feel like that more middle ground options between "naked" and "you can only see my face" that veer towards less isn't a bad thing in terms of variety against what we have now. This, as someone who isn't really happy about being shirtless or in a subligar in dungeons but would like less sleeves and drapes.
But variety in models in particular is definitely a big thing. Female gear exclusively got a frilly poufy skirt (eddas gothloli dress), a backless, sleeved halter for all races (bunny top, bunny set in general), an off shoulder model (spring dress), and other varied models (Lyse's shirt is a completely new model, an ACTUAL loin cloth for pants in china dress, 1st Korean dress is a halter dress, they got some cute unique hair accessories too, so its esp prevalent in cash shop) but male options tend to be straight up just long-sleeved shirt/robe or pants and occasionally, a chest window.
Welp isnt it sad that Yda has more in her pants as a female character than a male one? x)
Anyway I would just wish for more variety for both genders but especially for male ones. And I would be fine if we have the option to decide which version we want to wear. So if a male character wants to run around in the female version, well why not? I mean it cant get worse than the pig costume. x)' And I totally would love to wear some male version simply because my character likes trousers and not always wants to wear a skirt..
Let's hope the Live Letter addresses our concerns... :p
