How many beast tribes and different religious groups exist in Hydalin?
Maybe until we defeated the Ascians
SB pleasantly surprised me. I found it better than HW in story department, VA, OST and dungeon design and mechanics. The new types of quests spiced up the game and it was a wonderful time playing the MSQ. I have only some complaints about the job skill changes and balance, the boring gear designs and the recycling of the HW skins and some complaints about technical aspects of the game like how the hell a top premium MMORPG can't handle a simple FATE with some people on same place while all the other MMOs can handle way more people on same place.
SB was an improvement.
I don't know if it was a total waste of money, but the story was pretty bad and too fast moving. Subbing for the next two years to grind tomes is a waste of money though.
Nobody is saying remove those. People are trying to get the game to be something different in terms of quests. When stormblood is as lazily designed as Heavensward without even a care to have differences then you know shite is getting boring. The only part of Stormblood that's different is the environments and story. The endgame is exactly EXACTLY 100% the same. You get uncapped tomes, then you have capped tomes and savage.... zzzz rinse and repeat! Why cant we have things like quests to get the 7 week weapon? Why can't we have different outfits integrated into questlines? Point is that nothing is different. You get the aether currents and the zones become old fast. Yup, even aether currents were copy pasted.
So many comments in this thread are laughable. Welcome to MMOs people. It's called an expansion and not a new game. Of course you're going to get the same end game because that is what players want! Are we really asking for removal of savage, aether currents, and tomestones because it's "not new"? This would be a terrible game if that was the case. I mean, yeah, there wasn't a lot of new systems (though there are some) mostly because the game...just didn't need them. FF XIV doesn't need to reinvent the wheel because what we have is good. Want experimentation? Look at the train wreck that is WoW's legendary and artifact weapons system. I'll take what I know already works for me, with a new story, new areas explore, and new bosses with different combinations of mechanics.
Is anyone advocating for the removal of content?
If anything, that would seem kind of counter-intuitive in my opinion.
I can only speak for myself, but as a long-time player, I would love to see SE continue to implement new content. Sure, Diadem was a big flop, but I do appreciate the fact that they tried.
Endgame is still boring as hell. I'm just leveling some alts until GW2:PoF comes out.
Yes, a few posts have. Some posters here want a different experience, and that means scrapping the systems that work. "I don't want to grind tomestones or do savage, that's boring because we did it for an entire expansion."
I want new content too, just not different kinds of content. I think we have enough "content systems" in place where the devs can just add to them. Raids, dungeons, deep dungeon, and all that other content, works. So why not focus on adding more dungeons (so we're not 1-3 dungeons in any one patch--why not 6-8?). Or instead of only releasing the Alliance raids in one difficulty, make a savage version so there is a new raid tier every 3-4 months?
I really believe we have enough content systems. Just need to fill out those content systems with more and more new content.
people just will trip about anything they are adding new content, super savage, eruka however u spell it, they have said that we will be able to use our squadrans soon I think in 4.1, they also said they were lookin into making more savage style 4 man content for potd all of these things have been confirmed it just didnt come out in 4.0. And lets not blame this all on SE all the time Im sure who nova blasted the msq in probably two days which was the main basis of the whole expansion you know in a story driven game.
And again like someone else has said storm blood is an expansion can the devs really help that the player base chooses to run everything unsync and ignored all other form of content below level 60. One would think that you all these people in here thought they got a brand new game instead of just an expansion
Will savage PotD have new monters or will they resuse Stromblood monters that are reskinned HW monsters which are reskinned ARR monsters? We need to make it that the casuls dont need to learn new ememy patterns/mechanics.
After all casuls, new players and RMT keep the servers running.
OP's question: A definitive "Maybe. It would be, certainly, if there was something better in the genre that wasn't WoW."
So it even comes down to the trash mobs now, Yea the devs can not win with this player base. I've stated that yes they should of added maybe one or two extra forms of gameplay. I'd actually be fine if with the new treasure place u could que for it instead of doing the maps. But it really sounds like most people here just want a whole new m mo experience in general
I was bored before SB. So I took a 3 or 4 month break. Now I'm playing consistently again.
They never said things would change. Pretty sure they said the exact opposite. Yes, they have said things like "we'll be doing something different for the next patch". Pretty sure when they said that, we got treasure maps, PotD, and Aquapolis/Canals. Fluff content.
Does not counter what I said. My point is he does not understand, at least this point if it was said in the last few months, people are tired with doing the SAME FORMULA, so it defeats itself where it says "next major patch" (proof it is not in to reference of what is being complained about here) when said next major patch is just a copy/paste of the last major patch.
I think at this point it is proven people will say no to change.
*10 years from now, a new group of people thinking about quitting due to same formula*
"It has been working for 14 years so why change it?"
*only this neglects the high turnover rate and it works because of new people coming in*
Even if they are "happy" they do not want to make suggestions to make the game better? makes no sense to me.
I'm kinda bored, yes. I feel like SB suffered immensely from not updating content such as Deep Dungeon and Diadem ASAP.
PoTD allowed you to level different classes or gave you tomes if you were capped, and you could gain a weapon from it, so you benefited from it in some form no matter what you did. Diadem gave you good gear (although how it gave said gear left a lot to be desired, as BiS RNG gear is just terrible) and there were millions of different other little things you could gain from it.
You could always gain some sort of reward for doing this content, and any excess tomes could go towards an Anima weapon whether you really wanted one or not. You were always progressing towards something no matter what you did. But now? There's really nothing to do aside from raid or level classes.
We really need uncapped content that offers meaningful rewards, even if those rewards aren't the best. As long as they're still good. And there needs to be more things to spend uncapped tomes on.
I mean they're at the point that they're reskinning NEW dungeon gear already...so...
I'm waiting for the "We'll be doing something no MMO has done before!" which was said at fan fest and interviews. So far endgame is the same with a prettier reskin.
Not to be cynical, but I'm not all that impressed with Matsuno working on Return to Ivalices story. I never played Tactics and XII for the story as it bored me the copious amount of exposition.
I like the game, I log in everyday , but I can't denied that the game feels the same in every way besides gauge.
Same formula on everything?
Same weekly lockout?
Empty world maps?
Not sure what is it but I feel I seen everything before, from battle to grind.
An yeah we all know what's gonna happen with the relic, stone storm farming low level dungeons run x100
I think its a real shame that they work on creating these huge detailed zones and they are never to be seen again unless its for a hunt. I have not been diving once since the msq and will only do so to gather.
Hunts, fates, gathering, maps, MSQ updates, job quests, sightseeing log. Plenty of reasons to be out in the various zones. Underwater, not so much I'll give you that. The lack of any addition to combat leves this time around was also a pretty bad move.
People generally just don't want to do most of those things that can get them out of Kugane/Rhalgr's Reach/Housing. There's only so much you can do when people aren't willing to do anything.
Yes those zones are truly huge but they are lacking quite the life. Especially underwater. You have a huge mass of land with a bit of plants everywhere and some monster sprinkled around it. It does not feel alive for me. You only have monsters that are out to kill you so how can these farmers survive this, if those monsters are even around the camp and are attacking you if you just walk on the normal path? Where are all the critters and non violent animals? Why are plant eating animals attacking us on sight? Where are the herds in the Azim steppe? Why is there no true actions between different kind of animals or monsters? I mean in the new diadem you will have non violent creatures that are attacked by meat eaters in fates. Why not have something like that in the zones too? Then I at least would feel like these are alive.
So they took their budget, make those big zones yet they dont feel alive and are barely used anyway. They could do way more with this, or just create smaller, denser zones like some of the ARR ones and take the time and money and create more new endgame stuff instead.
MSQ and job quests are done once and thus are not something you do repeatably. One can only do so much fates and hunts after so many years before it feels boring and repetitive. So its kinda bad to say that people are not willing to do anything if they have to do content that was already done in ARR..
You know in Rift you can gather artifacts that are lying all over the landscapes as small balls of light. Some are next to a path, some others are behind items, some are far off the path and much more. Its fun to explore the whole map to get these and they are not so easy to find since there are no hints where they are. (One could buy an ability that shows them for 30 minutes for real money but you are not forced to use that) Also you can stumble over a riddle in each zone which must be solved differently and grants you a chest with a nice price. At the same time you are able to find books from time to time in NPCs houses or in the zone, which you can take with you. They will tell you about the lore of the game, something that is quite lacking in a story driven game like FF14. You know instead of having all the lore information in a real life book, they could have been included as ingame books too which could be read in the game. This would have been another way to use the zones.
The only thing that is even near something like that in FF14 is the sightseeing log and that was made way easier since HW.
Maybe this is why Themeparks are falling out of fashion? It's all much too linear - be it the MSQ or just endgame in general. As much as I love this game, I can't see how bearing through another gear treadmill for SB could possibly be healthy for the game. :/
Never said it was something that's going to keep you out there forever. 15 Jobs to get you out and about. MSQ updates repeatedly over the course of the expansion. Saying that once you're through the only reason you ever go out is for hunts is a lie, that's all I was getting at. People just don't do them for whatever reason they feel like saying.
You're not going to convince most people in this game to go find random little balls of light with no assistance. Not unless you tie the best possible gear to it or make it the best way to level. All you'll get for that is people complaining that it's not content, that it's boring.Quote:

In fairness people have been saying that about WoW for at least the last 7 years... yet here we all are still.
I think it's more of the notion that you must be logged into to an MMO 24/7 (especially in the subscription-based models) to either a) enjoy it or b) get your monies worth – that idea is shifting to a more (dare I dare I say it) 'casual' approach - casual in the time invested sense.
I think that perhaps for MMO veterans – which I think a lot of the player base would be now (over all MMOs; given that shift in gaming habits over the last 20 years)– would be having a hard time adjusting to that.
I leveled my chocobo in racing to max rank and pedigree, so i could unlock chocobo helm.
please put more glam behind walls to make them special.
You know how many Frontlines I spammed to try to get commander's coat but did it during a time where it was a slow que and the people who did them were premades? I barely got wins but i did them anyways cuz it was only way to work toward coat, still haven't got it yet, but it's literally the only long term goal I have lmao.
This will help me feel like I have something to work towards.
I would've NEVER did chocobo racing this much if I didn't want that helm. and honestly I thought the journey there was kind of fun.
I also want the glamour from seal rock, the problem is nobody running seal rock anymore....i was in que more than 1.5h and nothing...
I think that we like prestige rewards in general, but the joke's on us because everytime they add something that requires more than 10 mins to get the forums goes up in flames, because how dare they make us works our butt to do stuff!.
I'm at the point that I'm surprised if stuffs doesn't get nerfed or make easier. I don't want to say that everything should be hard to get, but certianly some things should feel special
I left ARR and HW at certain points for the same reason. Grinding tomestones over and over just gets very boring for content after a while. Fates are obsolete at max level because they only give grand company seals. Hunts can be fun, but also quite frustrating, and hitting the raids or dungeons over and over just wears you down after a while. They need to mix the formula up. My suggestion is if they want us collecting tomes then offer a small amount of tomes from other content like fates or the challenge log. I say Fates highly because I see so many people not doing them. Make it a drop you can get that you can turn in for tomes or to purchase materia. One token gets you 5 or 10 tomes. Then 5 tokens gets you the items you use to purchase level 5 materia while 10 gets you the item for the level 6 materia. Another incentive to do world content.
