Everything to know about 4.0 from the Fan Fest

The thing that bothers me is more or less the same as most others have stated. It makes financial sense to cater to what's most popular to the largest chunk of the fan-base, but it stifles creativity and diversity for everyone, and is less likely to pull in new players unhappy with the current roster.

That said, I really hope we get a new race (Viera or otherwise), but the alternative of expanding the current races to more options within them grows more appealing each day.

Best case scenario would be both, but budgets....

With "good looking" being subjective. One might argue that Freya Crescent is good looking - despite going into "Furry Territory" as you would put it. I personally avoid the term since it's typically used in a derogatory fashion.

Personally, I don't find the races very varied - Roegadyn look like humans that go body building, Highlanders look like humans that are not as far into body building as Roegadyn yet. Miqo'te look like humans with cat ears and tail tacked on, Au Ra look like humans with tail and scales tacked on, Lalafell are small Humans with pointy ears and Elezen are just lanky humans with pointy ears. Cosplaying any of the races is as simple as picking one that suits your personal stature and attaching fake ears/tails. That's nice for cosplayers, but I fail to see the variety. Our RACES have about as much deviation as my local bus stop and those are all of the same race - humans.

Not Cutesy =/= not attractive

How many times do I have to say this? XD They can provide customization options that are still beautiful without everything falling into the "cute teenager" look. They managed it with a couple of the elezen female faces. I'd just like more of that.

(There are barely any scales for female Au Ra though... I put them on max for this character and she still has a baby face. I don't dislike her, but I do wish I could make other Au Ra that were more mature-looking. More classically beautiful than cutesy.)

Why is half of the first post factual information and the other half is made-up and/or speculation? Please stick to one or the other.

So it seems the OP who stated this amount hasn't actually seen it from anywhere official. I was looking through the SE Japanese investor page and couldn't find any mention of this quote, though of course it may have been in some sort of private email to an actual investor. Maybe the original forum post should be edited to make clear that the 35 million isn't official?

Still, it would be awesome if they really were spending that amount of money on SB!

Not being able to read Japanese I haven't been able to verify it but apparently in a earnings report to shareholders it indicated that the 4.0 expansion budget was $35 million. If they are doing an overhaul of their server infrastructure, a far amount of that money might be going into that.

I was on the Japanese version of their Investor Relations site and found no mention in any of the reports about the expansion. Though perhaps there is another site/section where you have to prove that you are a shareholder rather than just being able available for anyone on the internet?

Honestly I am very underwhelmed by the reveals, we literally got nothing to get excited about. Most of the reveals were already assumed and/or typical of xpacs (level raises, and uhh. more content).

Agreed, I'm not sure why you'd hold 3 events when the content you have so little for each event. I'd prefer they took the Blizzcon approach, charge $50 or however much for the stream and hold one much larger event at the end of the year where you share everything possible. I don't care for most Blizzard games but Blizzcon is always worth the price of the stream when they reveal an expansion as far more is revealed. The price of admission is worth it if you're going to the event itself, as you can actually see the concert live alongside being able to purchase the merchandise early and actually socialise with FFXIV fans.

Anyone know if the Japanese Fanfest is going to be translated? Would be unfortunate if all the big details were revealed there, only for it all to be in Japanese.

Hey, we get a hint than the next "Relic" weapons will probably be tied to its own content in Eureka instead of just reusing old content over and over. If it's true, that would shut a lot of complains people has about Zodiac and Anima weapons.

And also that we might have 3 raid difficulties so that odd patches wouldn't just be "catch-up" patches.

It's not surprising that's what they're doing, it's a good way of building hype and getting people to buy the stream to see what happens next.

So far, all the events they've held in Japan were conducted in Japanese only with some very kind individuals translating it and updating a thread on reddit to keep us up to date.

Because it began before the fan fest whe3n everything was speculation and I replaced/will replace parts with official information when they become available.

I love the idea of this but it could go very bad. The relic that is. Also what I think is more important to a lot of people is not how we are going to obtain the next relic but actually making a relic that feels like an actual Relic weapon.

The funniest thing is there is only one item in the game that is purple (relic weapon) and it isn't even *technically* the best weapon (barring crappy secondary stats on Creator weapons), this literally makes no sense. What game has a color indicated system where the best color is inferior to the second best. It's absolutely infuriating, hah.

I did want to add again though I do love the idea of Eureka and NM with 72 hour timers, bring it on.

Relics need to be more worth the time than just ilvl, they need job specific stats added but then people poo poo about balance and that everyone will be forced to get one which is nonsense.

3 raid difficulties would alleviate a lot of the strain on the community, no doubt of this, however they have not confirmed it is happening.

Maybe you should make it obvious which bits have been confirmed and which bits haven't yet? Like the budget (I keep checking the SE holdings website in both English and Japanese to try and find a provable source for the Stormblood budget but so far nothing).

It came from another forum post where the poster said it was in a Japanese earnings report for shareholders. However the poster couldn't provide a link to/proof of the report and later made it seem like he hadn't even seen the report himself.
