Forcing players to do content they don't like for hairstyle, especially when it's hidden behind RNG, isn't best possible course of action.

They don't, but what would be the problem if they did? They put in a hairstyle as a reward for a new system in PotD. Why should you be handed everything for free with no effort involved? These arguments essentially boil down to "I wanted it but I wasn't given it, therefore it is unfair". Child logic lol

And with current system, some people put effort to get 1 bag, which contains hairstyle - while others run several hundred bags before they get it.

I'm OK with putting effort towards it, but RNG part infuriates me.

Do Extreme bosses or raiding, your effort is at least rewarded with token which can be traded in later for that item. But with hairstyle, you don't have anything like that, just pray to RNGesus and keep grinding - having this sort of experience right after Yo-Kai event? It'll end up burning people up and increase their disgust towards PotD.

Ahh yeah, RNG. I mean it's not like hairstyles in the past have LITERALLY been sold for casino chips or anything, this really sets a new precedent...

I really wanted that hairstyle when I first saw it in the 3.4 trailer. I was like "Woah, I NEED it, best hairstyle ever <3".

Really, I have no problem playing content to get some items. After many hours of grinding through the palace, I was able to open 20 chests. I got fireworks, fireworks and... yeah, fireworks :( Bad luck is my best friend in this game.

You realize that there are multiple avenues to get those chips without any luck involved? In fact, the majority of them requires no RNG whatsoever. The minigames (cuff a cur, syrcus, moogle crane) are skill based. The GATEs aside "Any way the wind blows" are skill based. Triple triad is only luck based with certain rules. Lord of Verminion is skill based. And the challenge log has no RNG in it whatsoever. That's not even an exhaustive list.

It took me 99 attempts at having the sacks appraised but I finally got it. Keep at it if your getting discouraged. Especially if you want it bad enough. And take friends who dont mind trading with you if they get it. Or put up a PF and offer to buy it from someone.

This part, is child logic. The same child logic that you've been displaying this whole thread so far too, actually!

Haircuts have no place inside a dungeon. It was a bad decision. Really bad. If you want to give players an incentive to play PoTD then make it more fun or give minions, armour designs for glamour, a title a mount. A haircut does not belong there. Especially with the way you have to obtain it. It feels totally wrong.

I wonder if people are getting crappier items, because they a more only running 1-10. Is it possible that better items come in deeper floors? I run all the floors 1-50 and get nice things.

No. It's the exact same bronze trimmed sack you get. They stack and don't discriminate. Been there, done that.

You can get some nice stuff in there as well - stuff you can also get outside the palace, like the level 1 glam equip and minions. If you watched the MB recently - chances are the prices crashed.

Later on, there will be silver/gold trimmed sacks as well in the higher PotD floors. Those will likely have a different loot pool. But for now, yeah...no difference between 1-10 and 41-50.

Doesn't seem like it, RNG is RNG. Got the hairstyle on my 18thish sack, with items totalling to 2m gil only running 1-10 and three runs of 11-20.

feel bad for those that really wanted the hairstyle yup, I hope everyone gets really lucky and gets it asap :)
I feel just as bad about the new tree location too, which is a sickening rngfest and in content I have zero interest in. oh well, even less to enjoy with housing in the game (gj)

It blows my mind the folks who wants everything given to them. It's this "I want a trophy because i participated" mentality

these folks would have gone insane if they ever played MMOs from the past. This MMO is so much more "user" friendly than other MMOs. Folks just have no idea.

I do agree that RNG sucks. I know. Running POTD countless times to get my ilvl 235 weapons and seeing "your atehrial armor is unchanged" for 40 times is aggravating but it's the nature of the beast for getting things you want.

The problem with a low % RNG is that there will be people for whom acquiring this hairstyle will an impossibility. The lower the % drop rate the higher the chances of more people never getting it.

That said, there is nothing to stop them from putting this into the loot table for retainer ventures, or buffing the drop rate after a few months to ensure that long term, no one is frozen out.

It is just not understandable for me, why something like a new hairstyle (for me) is buried by rng in the worst possible content. If it is necessary to be Potd, why not make it at least buyable for some shards ? I can farm ponys and weapons 24/7, no prob, but If I need to do brainafk content for the most common things ingame and hope Rngesus will grant it, it isn't fun anymore. Especially the "loottable" seems to be terribly huge, so what is the real chance of getting it ? This is just bad game design to make a content, what's neither difficult nor fun, somehow attractive again.

I've done floor 21-30 one night and got minions and a firework. Next night did 31-50 and again got minions, fireworks, and a male top. Then decided to do 1-20 and got a firework and the bustier.

So whether you get what you're actually looking for depends on your luck. Which floors you do are irrelevant, and that's not a good design.

I'm making so much money from these sacks, I don't know why people are complaining. I've made close to 2mil myself while also pushing towards yet another i235 weapon and earning plenty of tomes.

The only thing SE could have done is make the hairstyle sellable on the MB, then would have be perfect.

I made 3 million gil as well since the patch drop...3 million gil from the first 10 floors of PoTD alone (multiple times of course)

But people will come up with any reason to get angry.

How does this hairstyle work? how do these chests work do you get one for beating the first 10 floor or something that what eveyone keeps talking about.

Also, it's "just" a hairstyle, locked behind random chance on a casual content. So what's the problem? I am sooooooooooo glad it's here and not in Mogstation!
I am happy overall :) See, we don't even have to party or DF the entire dungeon, just solo first set, done :D You guys are asking for it to be exchanged for sherds, are you sure? I for one, wouldn't want to have to complete the entire palace to get a hairstyle :( I am very happy how it is, and 'scuse me now, gotta keep on spamming 1-10... Bluebird and Panda so far, it's cool :D

A little worried about the effects it'll have on the prices of items long term though, it doesn't seem like a feasible money maker long term due to almost every item in FFXIV seemingly having a far lower demand than supply.

I honestly did not know that they added other stuff like vanity items and minions to PotD so I might actually be compelled to run it now. Don't even care about the hairstyle.

How do you get the hairstyle its not in the OP i have read several pages and nobody has said how you get it just that i was rng or whatever.

So in palace of the dead they added accursed hoards. It is basicly treasure chests that you can't see unless you happen to step on it by mistake or use a pomander item that reveals it. pomander of intuition is the name I believe. You can only get 1 per floor from my experience and after you complete the dungeon there is an npc at quarrymill by the person who gives the aether weapons who will give you one item per accursed hoard your party found.

yes. And the intuition buff will last multiple floors until you reveal a chest

Sometimes you can get 6 or 7 just for the first 10 floors

People need to learn that. I've had to explain it so many times that the intuition is active until we find a chest. Enter the next floor and someone uses another Intuition immediately.

finally got mine after 50ish tries. pray everyone gets theirs quick.

Got mine on bag 114, which took about 60 runs. Not too bad, but I'm sure there will be people with worse luck than me.

Could swear it says "current floor" in the tooltip. I mean, I know it does work on multiple floors, but if you just read the tooltip I'm pretty sure that's the case.

Can confirm it's tradeable btw, got 2 of them and sent one to my BF via mail and it worked fine.

While I understand how people hate the RNG aspects of it, I think it is still good to have a few things for people to 'grind' in order to get something they like/want. If it is worth it to someone, they'll get it. To be honest it isn't my most favorite hairstyle, but I'll wear it for awhile just because it is the ONLY hairstyle anyone has to work to gain (regardless of the braindead nature of the grind - it still shows tenacity). I have done 8x 1-50 runs and still no drop, worst part is the RNG . The RNG of getting the hairstyle is hidden behind another RNG: Which is the chance to have a Hoard bag drop. I have noticed that there were some runs where I would not get a single Hoard Bag each 10 floors and other times I would get 2-3 Hoard Bags every 10 floors.

I reckon the grind would be less awfull, if they made it so each floor or each two floors drop atleast one Hoard Bag.

Honestly yes, it would be faster to complete a whole 1-50 for a potsherd than the 60+ runs some people have had to do. Even with the fact that mine only took around 8 runs to drop I think it would have been a better option as it isn't chance based then (RNG). They could have even made it cost a lot of potsherd - but in that case people would probably complain about that too lol (I wouldn't!). It isn't hard to get potsherd, especially if running in parties. Just open bronze chests while running two saves at a time. I wish they had added more stuff to buy with potsherd, cause as it stands I'm just accumulating them for the possible chance they add more to the vendor in the future. I have so many mhachi matter between alts that I'll never have to use the potsherd for materia (though if I'm forced to I will, if they don't add any new rewards in 3.45).

I understand a huge part of the ARR game design is RNG, but I don't think that all of it should be. I was around to play EQ1 trying to get my cleric holy water sprinkler and never being able to get the drop in years of trying. I loved that game regardless back in the day. I'm not for everything having to be easy, in fact I enjoy grindy games. I still think the hair should have been potsherd buyable. It just should have cost a lot XD. I'm not complaining either - if I really want something I will work towards it (like this hair), but that doesn't change my opinion that it would have been better off as a potsherd item. Now excuse me while I go back to grinding 1-10 again for all of the furniture items that those that had to farm excessively got!
