So basically "NO U"
What you may consider blatantly flawed others will be fine with. You have to face reality. It's your opinion not a fact. I know this may seem like a shock to you but opinions CANNOT be written off as facts. The game doesn't cater to YOUR every whim. Reality is scary for the entitled masses.
'Cause the story is clearly to the standards of excellence, as well as the combat, and world.
I've already said it before, but why can you recieveelemental materia, lowering your chances of useful materia when elemental resistances are utterly and completely useless.
& the entitled masses as you call them, is the reason we aren't all doing Amdapor Keep in broken gear, with no gil, and as PLDs, because lolWars.
The game has boiled down to:
Log-in, complete dailies, complete roulettes, get my piece in CT for the week, down Coil.
There's little-no immersion any longer, it's a slog, and the world presents zero threat & no further reward for engaging it.
I suppose then you now are a bit more happy. You have the valentione event. xD
jokes aside all MMO are the same or worse. once you finish the story there's no more story until the next expansion. some people "burn" the story as fast as they can and then complain there's nothing to do. others slowly enjoy each step of the story and spend their time socializing with other adventurers and helping them.
I'm not going to tell how to play. everybody enjoys the game on his own way but rest assured for me it will last a lot longer than for those that only want to have new content to see how fast can beat it and complain there's no more story.
Can someone give me an honest answer on why someone posts something like this... Your game sucks I cancelled my sub and yet you still feel the need to post something like this? Why? When I stop playing something because it sucks I stop playing it... That's it is squashed... Why post something like this... And better yet why does SE even let someone who canceled there sub still post anything at all...!!! You limit new people to the point they can't ask questions and yet someone who isn't paying can troll the threads and post there negativity on the community... These people are worst than the gil sellers IMHO, get rid of them... No money no voice...
And I'd answer why someone would post something like this?
The OP is providing feedback on what they think needs improvement in this game. That's what forums are for, right? Feedback and why they aren't enjoying the game right? I think the OP has some valid concerns, and so do a lot of other posters in this thread.
Can somebody please honestly tell me why I keep answering the same questions with the same replies even though they go against my 20 post limit?
The game doesn't suck, it does some excellent things, but still a mediocre package in the grand scheme of things, some mighty flaws that detract from not only the game, but from the Final Fantasy series, and from the players themselves. This is echoed not only by myself, but many others, just look at the comments and where the votes are distributed.
I actually do care for this game, it's why I make these threads, post my complaints, so S.E can make something of their massive potential, if someone is doing something poorly, they're going to keep doing it poorly till something outside acts upon them. Maybe subscription numbers? Hopefully fan complaints.
I've played and paid for this game for many months, I just recently decided this game wasn't worth my money. Nothing wrong with that.
Lastly, I hope you're joking, or a troll- the people leaving should have a voice, it very heavily impacts Square as a company and you as a player, just look at the popularity of this thread, lots of people share the same sentiments.
Because no company would want the feedback of those who have stopped playing their game so they know what went wrong and could do something about it so that less people leave and could possibly bring back some of those who have previously left, right?
Why, that'd just be good business sense. Who wants that?
agree but highly doubt square will do anything at this point maybe next expansion? lol
The game is good and I agree with the OP's original statement. It really is more of a chore to log in than anything else lately.
I love the game...but there really isn't much to do...
Do beast dailies. (if not capped)
Daily Roulette. (if not capped)
Cap myth for the week.
Turns 1-5 in an hour/hour and a half, one day a week.
Do a few treasure maps.
Log out.
I still sub and play because I have friends that I enjoy my time with but there really is no reason for me, personally, to stay logged in for any substantial amount of time anymore.
Apparently, just yesterday one of my relative came up to me and asked "Wow you are still playing this? Aren't you bored?" Now that I think of it....I think I am seriously getting bored.
Routine....same as madolyn above^ lol.
How about we reply to this post, give all our ideas for how to better expand and change the game. All in one easy to access post!
- Adding an elemental wheel, and balancing it among all classes and jobs
- Expanding on (repairing) mobs aggro behaviour such as longer ranges, and not just tunnel vision, touch, and sound is important too
- Expanding on the world map, adding non-combat activites such as secret explorable areas, crating/gathering party content, puzzle areas, chocobo races
- Chocobo companions, summonable in dungeons, or dungeons specfically made for you and chocobo
I don't know why people make forums like this when they know MMO's are never a complete game they are a work in progress and for the most part always have elements that needed to be added. OP why make a pointless post when you know from playing other MMO's that Sqaure-Enix won't do anything massive to FFXIV until the 1st Expansion. I've played a ton of MMO's and everyone of them that are great don't massive changes until the 1st Expansion. FFXIV offers major patches every 3 mos adding to the story quest and dungeons what other MMO's offer that you can't because you'd have to go back to WOW
I think that can be credited to them using the generic songs most of the time, instead of the excellent ones.
Battle theme, cutscene music, those 2 we hear the most and they're fairly unengaging as you say, but a large amount of the music is actually pretty solid, just not as common.
And another thing, the music usually fits what the game was supposed to be like, but the game itself can't live up to the music.
For example, the Beastmen areas, Amaljaa and Ixali in particular have amazing music, but the strongholds themselves are uneventful completely, small, not dangerous in the least, I ran through them in Phase 4 at level 18 without a scratch.
Another example is the Grand Company Chocobo Theme vs the Rental Chocobo theme
ARR itself's just awesome but since it's released, its weakest point's still the combat system.
I think the elemental wheel will make the current combat more interesting. If you fear having same skills with different name just make each element have a side-effect etc Fire have burn, Bizzard have slow, Thunder have paralyze, Stone have heavy... Add mechanic like if you use too much opposite elemental attack on a foe (etc Blizzard on Ifrit) it will raise the resistance of that element so you have to use other elemental attacks to put it down. That idea just suddenly came to my mind so SE you have time and resource I believe you can find more better way to do it.
Sorry for my bad English :P
A new MMO without a fleshed out end-game?
This is news.
That is kind of true however SE advertised the game by saying how the game only really starts when you reach 50 which is Endgame. So not having enough endgame content is one thing, but having really bad endgame content is what I'm talking about here. Login do turn 1-5 and primal ex, cap myths. That's all you do, and looking at 2.2, that's what you'll be doing still. Endgame dungeons in this is pretty lackluster especially CT. CT is like doing FATEs and provides no sense of accomplishment for the loot you get in there. Everyone in this game in any job will look the same in terms of gear/looks without much effort, there is no diversity and customization. Feels like these so called 3 months patches were suppose to be in at launch of the game in the first place.
I'd like to see this game succeed but looking at the direction they are taking it, I doubt that will happen soon.
Or they read the title and OP, and dismissed you because of your 'worthless' OP. First impressions are lasting impressions. You poo-poo'd this thread from the get go. That's your own fault really. Ultimately, it falls into another I quit thread, and not the first one mind you. Your sign off in the OP doesn't sound like you care anymore, yet here you are are. If you are going to jump, just do it. Casual quitters.... can't even quit without being carried.
This is why I only log on for about 90 minutes on Monday and then don't log on for another week.
I remember that, when Yoshi said the real game begins at 50 haha.
Then we got 4 rehashed bosses, 1 new unqiue one, 2 grind happy dungeons (full of reskins) and a raid full of reskins, and then turn 3 which was fun the first few times but poorly implemented.
When you start to think about it, it's sad how much of the game is rehashed, reskinned, and recoloured.
All things considered the development of this game since launch is pretty impressive. Each update adds more and more content and the game is still less than half a year old (1.0 doesn't count as ARR is very much a different game).
Perhaps my understanding of most of 1.0s storyline has given me a better understanding of the storyline within ARR, but I find the story very interesting. There are so many things going on and so many things to look forward to in the future.
I want to know just who these Ascians are, why they want to destroy Hydaelyn and summon their own dark god, and who that dark god is. I look forward to exploring the rest of Coerthas, delving into the troubles with the Holy See of Ishgard further. I can't wait to visit Ala Mhigo and truly free it from the now weakened Imperial's grasp. I want to see what trouble Nero is going to cause us within the Crystal Tower, what his fate will eventually be good or bad. What exactly happened to Louisoix and Bahamut, granted I'm sure some of that is already explained (haven't beaten T5 yet personally), since there are more turns coming obviously it should follow that that particular story is not finished. I want to see what has happened in Sharlayan (obviously it's the Acians, but I still want to see), to visit Sharlayan (there was concept art) and in general learn more about that area.
So.. as far as story goes, there's quite a lot to FFXIV:ARR and potential for more. The game's just began and we haven't even come close to even seeing an expansion (didn't they project it being 1-2 years after launch?) yet already we've seen significant advancement of the main story. I look forward to a level cap increase, that hopefully expands more on our Job's stories as well since they all pretty much wrap up with yet more being possible.
That's what I'm talking about potential, the story does have potential but it's hindered by fetch quest after fetch quest, bland unispired dialogue and poorly developed characters.
Little to no cutscenes, and if there are, the animations look completely robotic.
Minfillia a poorly developed character already, then 2.1 tries to introduce her long lost step mom (quality stuff right there) through endless fetch quests and an anti-climatic cutscene, what better way to try and develop a poorly devloped character, by adding a new one! Genius!
This games days are numbered anyway..
Look at concurrent logins of characters based on numbers of characters on the servers.
It drops daily.
Your first and only post on these boards is amazingly constructive.
It's also highly aware of the common MMO trends of spike initial subscriptions, decline, and eventual plateaus. As well as the the fact that this game alone pulled SE as a company out of the red, let alone paid for itself.
*stare*
You're not helping the OP's case or argument.
