What my dad would say is " If you're looking for logic in the world, you'll be sorley dissapointed".
I think many players fear that they get their gear at day 1 and would have nothing to do the other days.
Solution:
1. keep ready a dice
2. if a gear you want is in a chest, use first the dice
3. if you get 1 or 2, choose Need or Greed. If you get another number, click on Pass
4. If you have until sunday no gear, give yourself on sunday the "ignore the dice" buff (if it is not too casual for you)
I think this is also good for the people who are missing the old "low droprate in dungeons" feeling.
That's not a solution, it doesn't solve the issue for people that want the gear SOLELY for the appearance. I want to grab the gear ASAP so that I can focus on helping people with it instead of having to compete with others to get all the gear on a weekly basis. The fact that only 4 yes FOUR chests drop per party and that only ONE person from each party can get an item from each chest will lead to cases where people will miss out on stuff that they wanted in a later chest because they rolled need on an earlier chest or worse they're helping with an FC run and a piece nobody needs drops but someone would like it for an alt class but CANNOT get it because they already won a piece earlier in the week (this is a situation I will be falling into quite a bit since I routinely run content with my FC and not with randoms in duty finder)
It's a broken design no matter how many times anyone says otherwise. ...
Oh I know it takes time, but that time is typically doled out by RNG not by ridiculous lockouts, stop defending a bad call on the part of the devs
Our FC is not a hardcore company. We play 2 hours per day to go Coil. We cleared turn 1-4 wearing ilvl 70 and some piece of ilvl 90.
Atm, we are fighting versus twintania, phase 4 and 5. I expect, twintania will be defeat before the patch will be release.
1 month ago, we do turn 1-4, 1:30 mins or more. The rest of the week, leveling other alters or crafting. 3 partners and me playing 2 hours per day, have all crafter lvl 50 (thanks levequest repeatable). Now, we are playing more time caused by we are nearly to kill twintania. But other days, it's not necessary, at least you want all lvl 50 battle and magic class.
As i said, we are no hardcore. Do you think are you unable to get the same thing? Are you not a static fc or group? is it my fault than you haven't a group to do coil?
If you have a smart look, you will see this patch is a step back. You think, using DL are unable to complete Coil (coff coff i am laughing). Then, what do you expect wearing '1' item ilvl 80 more if you haven't a static group? Mythology cap will be increase to 450, spend wisely you will bet more ilvl 90 per week than drop per CT, unless you spend mytho to upgrade all alters relics weapons.
Our fc and a lot of fc will be 3 months clearing Coil (if not leave the game) after the patch.
Monday, clear Coil. Primal extreme, probably, be generous, 2 weeks(they demand ilvl 80 gear, we are nearly ilvl 90). The rest of time, pvp? leveling other chars?
3 months seems to me too long.
It's easy to say "don't pay your subs" Sure, but now, do yo notice a lot of people left the game, the price of items in market are decreasing, the demand of gear ilvl 70 craft is inexistent or you must wait one week to sell one item.
A live content attract people, to farm a low gear not.
I...I don't understand really. I hear people say in 3-4 days they got 50 in any class they do. That they ran out of stuff to do, that now they are bored. I just don't understand really. No, seriously, not trolling or anything. I don't understand. I've been doing this since Early Access, and I still haven't even touched Coil yet. I have spent a lot of time as well, though only about 3-4 days a week, but, a whole day. So, I just only recently beat Titan HM and got my Relic for WHM, and just started DRG to close the gap(I like to give my FC options if they need help), along with my FC where some are only just now catching up to me. One member has entered Coil and started beating a few turns, so, I don't understand where people say they have nothing to do. How?! You must have played non-stop for weeks and forgot about life? Maybe not, maybe I'm missing something, but either way, I have fun! Still do, I look forward to this patch.
Yes, that loot lockout is kinda annoying and I'm not looking forward to it, but, there is PvP, housing(I play MMOs for a SOCIAL FACTOR! If I wanted to play an MMO for the grinding questy stuff, I would play games like Diablo that do the same, MMO means multiple people I can interact with), beast tribe quests, bloody treasure hunting ARRRRRR matey! I just...I really don't understand where people say, there is nothing to do, I hate this game bye. Well, maybe you just went too fast? Didn't stop and enjoy the minor things here and there? Maybe this is your fault, not SE's? I don't know. I don't know how long you have played each day. All I know, from my point of view, you folks rushed way too fast and didn't enjoy the ride, and now are sitting in the backseat asking your parents "are we there yet?".
Also, a reason there might be a loot lockout is, CT is suppose to keep expanding, maybe later on this dungeon gives such good gear that it needs to be placed. SE knows the future of this game, we don't. There could be a reason that is explained down in, 4-5 patches.
in this thread people care more about loot than doing content
People are more willing to do things when a reward is involved than if there is no reward.
Whodathunkit?
In all seriousness - How often do people run AK/WP outside of the times when they want to get Tomes? Right? Most don't.
How often do people run ANY low level/story line dungeon after they've completed it? Almost never, unless they want Exp (and let's for a moment equate EXP to loot).
There's a reason they had to implement Duty Roulette, because no one does content they don't need. Crystal Tower will be the same way, get your loot of the week and never run it again.
Most people don't do things unless there's a reward attached to it, welcome to life.
Demonizing loot acquisition doesn't help.
Nonetheless, repeating content usually roots itself in some form of motivation. For MMOs, that can be gear. For Tetris, it could be a high score. For Contra, it could be doing it without dying. Having personal goals helps to extend things past the ennui, because I can assure you doing 10 WPs a week isn't really in the realm of fun for me anymore. It's just something I gotta do if I do want those tomes. Socially, I usually do it with 1-3 other FCmates. We crack jokes or make fun of stupid things that may happen, but I also don't need the game itself to find a chat room. I personally have no interest in PvP or housing, so people trying to tell me it's something to do really aren't going to get anywhere.
I certainly have other desires to help XIV grow, but with respect to CT, the lockout doesn't help that ambition. If anything, it makes the game's lacking points even more glaringly obvious.
It...is? More content means something else? The definition of More is that it's...well a greater value of the original value. So, the original value is, what we have now. And the greater value is CT. Regardless of how many times you are forced to do it, it is still technically more content. It's just, in people's mind, they want another expansion, or something that would take them so long, that, it would last to another expansion. Problem is, they've stated that this patch is a "catch-up"/casual update. So, honestly, to throw SE to the wolves right now, is wrongly timed. If, after 2.2, it is still the same path, then I can say you have justified means to react this way. But, right now? I don't see it. I see just people assuming the wrong assumptions.
Wonder why RNG is not part of the Game anymore like it was in 1.0.. Maybe because of the hilarious amount of the complain/QQ-threads and how people wanted lockouts rather than low RNG?... Not that i am surprised that people now want it the other way around. Armchair Devs and how they believe, how Games have to be actually designed.
Source to that claim?
That may goes for you, i play Games for fun and i do not need rewards to have fun. Welcome to real life.
I don't say all hardcore have lvl 50 class.
As a BLM, you need lvl 34 archer (Quelling Strikes) unless you are trying to tank all mobs as you can.
As SMN, WHM, SCH, you need lvl 26 THM (Swiftcast). Instant rezz, instant spell wehn a great focus is needed.
That, it's the reason players go unnoticed.
Claiming for a item per week, when, in coil, they get 2-3 items to mains or alters.
Now, you can say we are no lifers and others words than feel you better.
How about all the threads that are full of people complaining about hour long queues for things like Ifrit/Garuda story mode?
You are genuinely an anomaly, most people are generally it for themselves. Tell me, honestly... how often do you run Storyline content outside of if friends ask for your help?Quote:

You don't need rewards to have fun. This is a very true point, I spend my entire Tuesday-Sunday in this game helping random shouts do things like Chim/Hydra/Primals... Do I have fun? For a time, however, there comes a point where you've done the same content so much that it stops being fun. When you get to that point, the only thing left to keep you going is the reward, and no, that point isn't exclusive to me. It's a biological fact that people get bored when doing the same thing over again, the only difference is it takes some people longer to get to that point than others.
1.0 Forum was used by 3% of the Playerbase, unless it magically increased ( its around 5% for most Games actually ) or SE gives us a new Number, i will somewhat assume it is a similiar amount for the 2.0 Forums.
Last time i did Story Titan, which was last week with some french people just for fun. I do it if feel like it and be like "oh.. i did not do that in a while, could be fun". And yeah.. it was fun. I am not saying that other people don't have other goals or don't play for different reasons, but i can only speak for myself and those people i know. And so i can say i am not alone with the way i play. Just now a couple groups in my FC doing WP for fun, their tomes are capped, they just like to mess around.
I'm with Nero. I just have fun. CT is still going to be fun, and I care not for rewards. There are a lot of people like that. To say that's an abonomaly is wrong. My whole FC is filled with it. We are all just having fun and don't care if we do something and it leads no where, because, the journey itself is where the reward is. I jump into Titan HM because, why not!? I may fail, but I had fun making noises and talking to my room mate about how that Landslide totally just took my arm. I laugh, I cry, and I enjoy it! To say that is rare, or unheard of, is bias and wrong.
I could just as easily say you're in the 3% of people that managed to get in quickly or something.
The fact stands there tends to be incredibly long queue times for a lot of things because there simply is not enough people doing them. Why? Because it offers no reward for them to do it.
See I didn't play 1.0 because I didn't have the money for it at the time, if I had, I personally wouldn't have minded RNG because it's a mechanic I'm used to from my time spent playing SWG (freaking Sith 4/5 waistpack holocron RNG for master jedi cloak was the bane of my existence for years) and yet I still prefer RNG to week long lockouts.
I have all ilvl 70 gear with a had full of 90s from greeded coil drops for my alt jobs. This seems good enough for me. The level 70 geared DL jobs seem more then decent to do most everything in the game, I finished relics for them all as well.
You don't need all level 90 gear to enjoy the different classes the game offers.
5 of 5 tank queue Cape Westwinds were instant for me. 1 of 1 DD queues... 28 minutes.
Average WP queue time as DD is around 30 minutes for me, and it's about 10-20 minutes more for AK. I have yet to have a non-instant queue time queuing for either alone as tank, though it may take a couple minutes with dps along for the quick queue. That seems to be pretty standard for the other tanks I've spoken to...
There are several issues with this game, but this one is not one of them.
also, can i have your stuff?
Then quit. No one cares.
The real root of the problem is myth armors, or rather, the way myth tomes are obtained. It discourages a large number of people from doing endgame content. Why bother banging ur head against an rng wall when u can gear up your entire character in highest tier gear through farming midgame content? Right now with myth items, your character's items progress even though you don't do any progressive content. If you remove myth items, then as many claim, DL is sufficient for the entire game save 1 fight. Then, players who "don't see a problem with current lockouts" will understand progression.
Unless I Queue up with my wife, Tank queues for me is like 1-2secs even on Monday.
I happen to like Gear Grinding, It increases my chances of getting into End Game content and succeeding. I do other stuff in game. But I can only Fate Grind so much, I find it boring and sometimes I fall asleep.... At least in FFXI I could occupy my time by camping NMs or helping others. But in FFXIV seems everyone only needs help on titan HM, And that as you all know sucks and I don't like doing it.
Come again!
this game has content but the way the gear was done makes most of it. they did vertical progression and did it bad. leads to lack on viable content
To say EVERYONE is enjoying the game is speculation. Lets have an official poll on this matter and I think you will find that EVERYONE isnt enjoying the game. The game is dull and boring as in its the same crap everyday regardless of whats being released in patch 2.1 it will end up being the same til 2.2. This will possibly hinder the game's growth as those who find it boring and dull will tell their friends and word of mouth is very powerful. Now of course those who think this game is the greatest thing to man will do the same but Im sure after those who try it will come to the same conclusion as all those who currently find this game dull and boring.
