I'm happy especialy because now it will be motivating to gear up weekly with ToM accessories & Relic+1 will now take 2 weeks. This is incredibly nice for players like me who like to maximize their gear before attempting big things such as BC.

Yes, you see it more & more, people expecting you to be at least full DL to do Ifrit HM or WP. ppl who discriminate other jobs/players because of a X or Y reason. Everything you say is totaly valuable, but it is outside of SE's control, Yoshida can try everything, he cannont convince the thousand/million of player to accept each other.

This is why he's doing this change, now everyone can gear a little bit faster/easily up to fullfil each others expectations. he clearly stated it in his post.
Players like you need to be patient too, we don't know the difficulty of the new content coming with this patch, you might be surprised.

From an hardcore player point of view obviously, from a buisness point of view not at all.
When you have a buisness going, you want to sell your products to the majority, I have no math to back up the following statement but i'm pretty sure the hardcore playerbase fall into the minority (for now.)

This being said, its smarter to design content more oriented casual, while adding more difficult content.

Yoshi, how about providing Mytho cap per class? I think 300 was all ok but many people would like to spend their time on several classes. This can still be done by creating multiple characters but what is the reason for armory? I think ther is no sense in forcing people into creating multiple toons...

The time it would take you to collect myth tomes and buy the gear is much much longer than actually doing the dungeon. It will take me months to acquire a full myth set if I don't attempt Coil soon.

How do you have the time? I think they want you to progress with a one job, a main. Heck look at the relic quest. You can't do multiple relic quests at once. Keep it up with your main and then work towards your alts. It's not like they cut you off completely from playing other jobs.

Not true. People, like me, will still get bored with the new dungeons eventually. Thankfully they are adding other ways to obtain tomes other than doing dungeons. It will help the monotony that is obtaining tomes.

Of course nobody is forced to level any classes/jobs to lvl 50 if they don't want to, but please accept the fact that this game is built around leveling several classes/jobs and in result gearing them up. If you don't care about this cause your Free Company (the fact that you call it guild says a lot too) is fine with you only having one viable level 50 class/job, then good for you. Only proves that you and your FC are far from being anywhere near hardcore, still you make demands on behalf of the "hardcore" playerbase. You are not even not hardcore, you are even a minority among the casual players, cause even the majority of casual players care about lvling several classes/jobs to 50, cause that's what this game is built around.

If anyone in your FC decides to quit the game you are gonna be one of those players that can't jump in for any other role than what you are already and that's what makes the difference between hardcore and regular FCs in this game.
Hardcore FC demand versatility among all their members, being able to fill other roles if needed. My FC calls itself hardcore, though even I would say they are not as hardcore as they want to make it look like, but I can assure you, we are gonna run CT every single week til 2.2, cause as most people everyone in the FC focuses on using their Myth on their main class/job, but CT will help everyone to gear up their other classes/jobs as well, to make them more efficient in the case they have to jump in on that role. Some people in my FC even lvld alts to 50 and gear them up, cause of the Coil lockout, so they can jump in to other groups and help them if they are short one person.

I like the idea of the increase of the cap, and adding the new raid. It's great! Only problem for me is, that I won't be able to do it, since the lag is horrible, that I couldn't even do Titan properly.

According to blizzard (who have the most players in the mmo business both casual and hardcore.) The hardcore make up 8% of the game. Why on earth would you "Ideally" design content with the hardcore in mind? I guess if your goal is committing financial suicide then it would be a very sound practice.

thanks yoshi-p for going through everything, as a uni student i'm looking forward to daily quests, as a busy 3rd year student, runnig 9 dungeons at 1 and a half hours each with DF is very hard to do, so with this now I can just do quests if say, I have a deadline coming up.

Also, i'm very surprised that 2.1 will add Storyline quests, looking forward to that :D

Many players are still approaching the game with a rigid "progress" mentality. I completely understood what Yoshida was saying about either/or as opposed to A then B. Currently I am gearing (casually) though AK/WP and i love the 300 cap because I can pepper "grinding" throughout the week as opposed to just rushing it on monday. At the moment, I am a university student, with loads of free time to game, but I choose to study/other game/whatnot. After I gear, I plan on doing coil for the experience as opposed to gearing. I like the looks of AF-Relic and aesthetically I want to stick with that.

I dont knock Hardcore players, in fact i used to be one. That being said, I see FFXIV as a platform for SE to provide OPTIONS for players rather than one path that all players must go though (i.e. Dynamis in FFXI). I would love for them to introduce a system that drags hardcore players along for weeks like they did with Dynamis (which was, if i remember correctly, only able to be ran once a week) with horrible drop rates. But in this day and age, everyone would just rage over that.

I want to know what gear will the hard mode primal drop? Primal armor? or Primal Weapon+1? I guess they will be level 80 ?

Hmm I see Yoshi mentioning casuals and blah blah. Well...making stuff for casual people is fine, I dunno if that is the word I'd use though. My BF plays casually (As in couple hours a night or less) and he has allagan/AF2/relic+1 and has some of the best gear DRG can have atm. Also is decked out on his PLD. We do coil easily and all that...in an hour or less. I'm just not sure what SE means by casual, I thought it was stuff that can be done in a short amount of time?

Does he mean people who just play...at a slower pace then normal? >.> Not trying to start a flame war or anything..lol legit question.

Also...cool that SE is raising the cap...I can gear out my second myth job faster now :) I look forward to the HM dungeons and new primals....but can we see some more open world content please, besides fates/quests?

The number of hours you play doesn't determine whether you're casual or hardcore. Since you can get to 50 in a couiple of days and max out myth in a few hours, time is a useless gauge to assess a player's style. Now if your boyfriend did nothing but emotes and collecting pets all day, then you could call him casual.

Casuals are probably the players whose focus isn't to get to end-game content as quickly as possible.

Thats a good point of what is a casual and what is a hardcore. I thought I was a casual because I have work and other activities and I just can't devote lots of time to FFXIV even though I want to. But my mentality as a player is that I like to gear up, I like to try to learn and be the best possible skilled player for myself, I want to do end-game content and I want be in those big FCs where they have scheduled farming and end game content. That's my mentality as I love playing at a high skill level, but since I don't have the time to put in, I'm not able to join the big FCs and I don't have 4 or 5 level 50 jobs and I don't have full DLs and such. Yet the system seems fine for me because of the time I can invest.

I doubt this was mentioned in the thread, but trading high lvl gear would be good at this point. Trading coil drops u dont need for AF2 gear out vice versa. Or to trade Myth/ allagan gear for Myth points ; ignoring the weekly myth cap

No kiddo. Implying you can currently buy any roles gear NOW. If not then it would help a lot. im all for this idea, if u didnt read it the 1st time i replied

Also make it so you can only buy the items with the job that can use the armor . This would make it so you cant just farm using tank to gear up your WHM for example like Im doing .

I cant see this happening tho , it would be a nightmare having to have currencies for each character and every job . They would actually have to program an array to store the data instead of just a variable and we all know that would be far too difficult to program these days .

You realise crystal tower requires 3 groups and its probably going to be on lockout as well , if you don't have coil static chances are you wont have crystal tower static .

You are going to be running WP and AK still and maybe a 3rd hardmode dungeon which might even be 8 man and on lock out too lol . This game just isn't casual , but you can craft right ?

I really hope people wont have such a mentality. That would be really really silly to have this behavior especialy when the content difficulty is supposed to be lesser than coil.

I was really thinking hard about returning to FFXIV as a previous subscriber and collectors owner of the first FFXIV.

1.) After Reviewing the Barber-Shop system I am not intersted in joining Final Fantasy XIV again. What I want is a system that allows me to customize my character from within my house any time I want ((FOR FREE)) not 2000 GIL limits or anything just allow me to enjoy my game please and you (MAKE YOU'RE MONEY.)

2.) After reading what was posted over on MMORPG.com, I am not interested in returning to FFXIV for more than Reason #1, because you are Limiting my play. I pay to enjoy a game I spend random amount of time sometimes up to over 8 hours a day playing a game, so why should players be limit to how many tokens they can earn a week via a "Scripted System".

If only the developers would actually make some great changes before ESO, or Star Citizen come out we might return but otherwise are looking for other MMO to play.

This completely turns me away form Final Fantasy XIV, Please remove all restrictions and make this game worth playing.

In fact my entire Guild has quit this game because of these two reasons, and changes the devs are making towards this game we do not feel are in the right direction, if the game was F2P we wouldn't care but its not We are paying for a good gaming experience, not for limits.

No....it would be abused and you would have people fully geared in 1 job in like 3 weeks max instead of 5 months, 9 jobs, 300 each, after 3 weeks 9 jobs have 900 myth and thats already chest piece, legs, head, boot, hands, belt, ring, bracelet, earrings, and neck for a single job in 3 weeks, thats wayyyyyyyyyyy too fast, you would all be complaining then that there isnt enough jobs, or that there isnt anything more for you to do

While I'm not in favour of having a cap per job as well, you don't seem to get the reasoning behind it. A cap per job means, you can only use the points accumulated on THAT job for THEIR equipment. Not just grind 300myth on 9 jobs and use it all on one...

except that the way it currently is, you can buy any pieces you want with the Myth, and if it was class/job specific its not defined by anything other than Tomestome of Mythology, and the items that need to be bought require Tomestones of Mythology, so how can you gate items to a job when it requires the same tokens.

Cause you wouldn't reach an accumulated amount of Mythology on your character itself, it would only show the Mythology accumulated on that specific job. That is what people are asking for ;)
Of course they would have to change it to work like that, but that is what people are asking for, not to get 300myth/job and be able to spend it on all on one job^^
