Hilariously wrong. There's no possibility of a data issue at all. The game is already storing all the data from our 800+ members, they're just split into 2 FCs instead of one. There is no world where combining those would result in MORE data, not LESS data, since the data about the other FC would be deleted. (unless you're really worried about the one bit more it would take to store 1024 instead of 512 as the max limit)

If we were asking for a raise in the max number of people allowed into Excalibur itself, that would create more data, but just moving people from one FC to another would not.

If I come back here on Sunday still having the same problem with having literal hundreds of people still unable to fit in our FC despite having kicked over 6 times your total FC population for being "inactive" do I have a legitimate concern then or is your contribution to the thread to question the validity of my FC's existence?

How are we supposed to determine who this "20-30%" is comprised of?

What about people who only log in once or twice a week? Only on the weekends?

But this is a moot point because even if we purged 50% of our primary FC the overflow FC is still larger than that. There are over 300 people in the overflow FC.

So if your not recruiting, why do you guy need the room? I'm starting to think this is one of those business strategies. I haven't logged in since yesterday night because I had to work, feel free to purge me from the FC as this level of inactivity is clearly problematic and gets in the way of maintaining a functioning FC.

Don't let your limited experience blind you, there are MUCH larger player organizations out there. Hell, take SA's Eve presence for example, last time i looked their alliance was well over 3k strong.

Best stop talking about things you don't know. Inventory size limitation is purely one of gameplay balance, not some sort of "database limitation". This isn't 1994, and SE isn't using 486s as their server.

Using Eve as an example again, EVERY SINGLE inventory location is capable of holding ONE THOUSAND unique item stacks, with the maximum stack size being... whatever the limit is for 32 or 64 bit integers iirc (most I've gotten is around a few billions in a single stack). And there is practically limitless number of places where you can store items - every one of the thousands of stations, outposts, and every one of your ships, pos hangars... and this goes for every single eve character.

Right now a single ARR character can have at the most 765 item slots beyond what is equipped on their person, with 490 of those capale of holding items up to 99 per slot.

A single one of my Eve character will easily use 100+ times that number of "slots", and if you factor in actual unit count... probably more than an entire server, if not all servers combined, and I'm not even an industrialist.

and I have 9 characters.



There are over 500k active Eve subscribers, with each account capable of holding 3 characters. Adding in the inactive but not deleted characters ( which still have all their stuff), you're looking at over 2 mil Eve characters. With every single one capable of holding more items than every characters in all of ARR.

By your assertion, either CCP is secretly using an alien super computer to run Eve, or SE is using a team of monkeys with abacuses to run ARR.

That, or your assertion is simply incorrect, you tell me which is more likely.

Everyone who thinks 512 is something more important than some arbitrary number a developer picked one day is hilarious. There's no functional reason the size can't be expanded. Even if it were one guy and his 799 alts, there's no ultimate reason for there to be a hard cap on the size to begin with. Zero.

I'm interested in seeing whatever the response ends up being to this. Were in in SE's position I would probably refuse for a variety of reasons; the number one being that if you are indeed bringing another 400~500 people over to Excalibur with world transfers, that ends up leaving your FC with almost 1/7th of the entire server population... which I personally would consider to be unfair in the sense that it'll basically become your server, particularly if the FC continues to grow. But hey, SE already opened this can of worms by having such a large limit in the first place, and I am in fact NOT in SE's position. Curious to see how this plays out.

The two first pages each hold 200 names. So as you can see from that shot at least 420 people have logged in in the last 5 days. Did we mention the second FC is closing on 400 members? Given, there are several members ther that haven't logged in for weeks, but even clearing out those we're still way over the limit for one FC.

While I think 512 is already a ridiculously absurd amount of people for one FC. I won't sit here and tell you how to run your FC but I will tell you that you're probably the ONLY FC between all servers and all regions that has that many members. Now the keyword is "probably" because you'd be the only one I've ever heard of with that many members.

Having said that, I doubt you'll see an increase, unless more and more FC's start popping with over 512 people. . .so at the moment, you'd be beating a dead horse and you'd also be feeding ignorant people fuel to give you a hard time, I'd say. . .get a voice chat server. . . .a really really really expensive one. . . .

As discussed earlier in the thread, we already have a voice-chat server. It is not feasible for 700+ people to effectively organize groups with each other and ask questions or give advice over a voice chat program. That is what we use the FC chat for and is why we are asking if the FC limit could go up so that we can organize and help each other using in-game functions.

As someone who has been working on organization for the FC and maintaining servers and writing software to handle a large number of members smoothly, months before anyone but a few of us knew that this game would probably end up rather popular and that we'd need these resources, what you said is highly ignorant and offensive.

All those listed are still within the limits though, I'm sure there are others over limit besides the one you're representing but I never defamed you or anyone who enjoys large groups of people and I never denied facts. I said "keyword "probably". . ." because I wasn't sure if there were more FC's with large amounts of people other than the one you're representing, it's in the very quote you quoted.

Someone representing you're guild said they have 512 members + spill over 256 members was it? While the guilds you listed have a huge amount of members they're not 1 member over the limit. . .so you would still be the largest guild accross all regions that I've ever heard of because there's no way of knowing unless the masters of said guilds come forth and request the same thing you're trying to request.

I know you're eager to try and own me up but before you waste your time looking through F-Z, save it, I'm not denying just not convinced because of the reason I've stated above.

Large groups exist. We're a large group that ran into the limit. There are other large groups out there who are also at the limit, or very close to it. There are other communities who have decided to work around the roster size: I know Reddit's FFXIV subreddit chose to splinter into dozens of FCs instead of attempting to deal with the FC cap as we are. We're interested in communicating with S-E about possible changes, like FC alliances or a purchaseable roster size increase.

It's absolutely ridiculous to just start contesting actual verifiable information with dumb "probably" hypotheticals. Maybe you can just accept that we're a group that has different aims than you and yours, instead of chiming in from the peanut gallery about how you think I'm actually just a figment of my own imagination?

Not at all bashing for having a large community, and can totally see why you've asked for a change rather than just accepting it, if your community's accounts are paid for you kind of have some obligation to your members to facilitate them playing together, but...

How is your FC chat not a constantly scrolling wall of text? :O

If you had 1,000 members in the same FC chat channel, you surely would be unable to read and type with any meaningful cohesion? And that many people would drown out any /tells /shouts /ls chats that you may have in the same filtered chat window? Which would surely prevent people from using the FC to chat. Which kind of defeats the point of you all being in the same FC?

Not attacking, just considering logistics!

I'd recommend having three or four equal FCs with ~200 members in each so members can freely transfer between them if they wanted to hang with different folks, rather than one full 'top' FC and one 'reserve' FC. Just a suggestion!

Because all 800+ aren't on at the same time; we have a wide range of people from all over in the FC.

No, because the majority are actually doing things. Running a dungeon, or crafting, or leveling. We don't just sit around chatting all the time :)

The FC chat was a non-stop scrolling wall of text for the first couple weeks as we were getting the hang of things. Things have calmed down now as people tend to use the linkshells for off-topic chat and the FC chat is used for organizing events across the linkshells, making announcements, and answering questions/requests that one given linkshell may not be able to handle. This is why we'd like to see all our members in one free company- right now when someone puts up a call for people to fill, say, a Praetorium or AK run only about 2/3 of our people are able to see it because the other 1/3 are required to be split into a different FC.

This thread is still going, huh? Over something that doesn't really concern anyone but the FC members themselves? Oh right... spite and entitlement. Not to mention pointless posts like my own.

Take solace in this: I used one of my limited daily posts to do absolutely nothing aside from voicing my disbelief and entertainment.
