Warriors in coil .. It's not happening

If the tank is really taking that much damage, yes, even a Scholar can go dry. That's even using Aetherflow AND Energy Drain as much as possible, and typically using Lustrate or Sacred Soil will take priority over Energy Drain.

Not a hate builder but just a panic grabber if you lose hate on a mob (that is instantly back off after 1 heal)

Provoke is not a NEEDED skill for WAR at all. Overpower generates x4 hate with defiance up and works much better than a provoke.

It's very nice to have in turn two so the tanks have an easier time swapping threat back and forth on the aids boss.

This is flat out wrong having a war in turn 4 is really useful. Turn 1-4 is no problem for a war its turn 5 that is the problem.

Edit: also Provoke is needed for turn 2 as the post above mentioned. I highly doubt you are doing turn 2 without provoke.

So how do you switch aggro between tanks in turn 2 ?

Or they are doing enough right not to need it. One tomahawk and flash / overpower can regrab a mob and provoke needs a second move after it in order to keep the hate. So really if you are good it's just a wasted skill. (talking from experience by the way)

I don't see how anyone can claim it's bad warrior play. Maybe if they're losing threat, but there isn't really that much a WAR can do to make themselves more survivable in Coil.

The way for a WAR to be viable is by having other party members alter their play and do things to help them stay alive. I.E. feed the snake more slimes to keep stacks at 0-2, Drop sacred Soil on the WAR only, Use Eye for an Eye on every cooldown, Have the BRD maintain rain of Death on the target, etc. etc.

This is all stuff that is above and beyond what is required for a PLD to tank. Paladins can take up to 4-5 stacks for a limited amount of time, paladins don't NEED sacred soil. Paladins don't need the rest of the team to support them with various debuffs, and paladins will require significantly less healing throughout an encounter.

In the end, yes, most of coil is possible with a Warrior, but it is far from ideal. Essentially everything in Coil is better done with a Paladin.

Do warriors have considerable trouble holding mobs? I did my first AK run with one yesterday and omg, every mob group we ran into i'd get mad hate from the mobs.. for just letting off a cure o.0. The one the warrior was on would stay focused on him but the other 2-3 would all come after me, just for letting off a cure. was he just terribly terrible, or do they not have an aoe hate generator ability or something? I have ran with them in CM a few times and noticed dps gets quite a bit of aggro too, but we melt them so fast it don't matter.

Also have beat garuda and ifrit with them , but they just have to focus on one thing pretty much so they can hold it np. Are they just not cut out for multiple target engagements that can take more than 10 sec , or have I just had bad luck with warriors. I don't know, but as a paladin user myself I think paladin is the much better tank imo

Your experience is valid for most of the game. Not turn two where it is important to switch aggro between two tanks in a controlled and quick way.

^ This. The only fight where Warriors are currently a bad choice is Turn 5. If you're wiping "because you're using a warrior" in the other fights then it's probably not actually an issue of the job your tank is playing...

You can think that warrior is bad all you want, there are plenty of people out there that actually know how to play warrior well and are doing better than some paladins.
