This is such a good idea!

I think the key thing is that the other games also have an extremely streamlined crafting system. GW2 has maybe 5 or 6 different metal ingots maybe.. and that's it for metal. There's simply no need for a harvest log because if you're building something for a max level character, the materials needed are found in every max level zone. Every max level tree drops "Ancient Wood", every max level ore drops "Orichalcum ore". With the exception of area specific niche skin stuff, you never need to go to different zones.
The only crafting line that IS a bit complicated is cooking because it at least tries to emulate "real" recipes.
The thing that FFXIV has full on crafting/gathering jobs is what makes the devs make more and more new materials (imho), and it's not really a good call.
A better call to me would have been to do like EQ2 to utilize old materials + something new, so instead of like "somethingsomething Gold", they could have just used legit old school Gold plus "something something reagent", to keep old materials relevant.
It's not that a dedicated material storage is a bad idea like GW2 has, it's that there's just too many materials that are incredibly unnecessary, especially given how easy it is to gather them in the wild.
What they need to do is change how these items function.
How they treat tokens in the game is bizarrely inconsistent. The tribe tokens, which can only be gotten in their respective zones , have no cap, and are turned in to one location are in the currency tab. Yet these crystals that I get from adventurer in need, can only be turned in to a select few npcs in their respective zones, fill up my bag. Why? As far as tokens go, they literally have a system they can use, but just don't.

If they can't use the currency tab for all currencies, then why not this? What's bad is this is only for clusters. All these other stupid tokens we get from this same instance fills up your bag. Again, why? You can only spend the coins inside the instance, put them on there too. We don't need items taking up inventory space. Use this for Eureka. Use it for every raid. The only time I feel I want to know how many totems I have is when I'm in that instance or when I'm talking to the npc I turn them into. Just use a system that's already in place if the currency tab can't.
Baits can be changed to how the gig heads worked. Instead of having multiple stacks of bait that are consumed, just have a one use, register item (like a minion) that gives access to that bait. We already have fish getting away, we don't need a second type of get away with the fish getting your 3k lure. It doesn't add anything.
No, it's the same thing. Bozja is legitimately what I had in mind and the person you're quoting picked up on that.
It's tokens that are progress towards completing your relic, but you need to keep several items in your inventory. There's no inventory to clean up there. You absolutely need those and you'll probably have them for a significant portion of time by design. Relics aren't meant to be completed quickly. Bozjan coins too. They're literally a currency.
The tokens from clearing EX and such come to mind as well. There's no reason they aren't in the currency tab. They're a currency in the same way beast tribe tokens are too!
Eureka did the same thing with multiple currencies that take up inventory space.
All these should absolutely be in a currency tab. The game is just wildly inconsistent on this front. It's a little sketch when the game also charges you for extra inventory space via retainers. It feels a little bit like mobile game design where they would intentionally inconvenience you to make you spend more money.
Halve the Key Items inventory and add a Currency tab - or better yet, somehow make Currencies move to Key Items. Would be great if Raid tokens were included in this. Leave the inventory for crafting/crafted materials.
Re: Bozja
I was honestly really turned off by the clutter/physical items in inventory as opposed to something like wondrous tales where we just get a thing checked off as we “collect” it.
That alone turned me off entirely from Bozja; haven’t bothered trying it beyond doing the 1st raid.
These items don't go into a currency inventory because their use is more limited by time and need. Once you're done getting what you want out of an EX trial, you're pretty much done. The same goes with relics. After you've completed all of them, you're done. Raid tokens were brought up and that's the same thing. The same can ultimately be said for harvests.
Tribal currency is as it is because there's always the possibility of revisiting the vendor at some point.
All the items you mention become properly redundant / useless at some point. Let's look at Extreme trials. You want them to have (currently) 26 entries on the currency window that will inevitably sit at 0 or just not shift at all for the rest of the life of the game. It's clear they like to keep the currency window tidy.
I don't see where the inconsistency is.
On the subject of charging for inventory space, it's absolutely fine that they do. Past a certain point, it's a luxury. Once again, in case you missed it, there are lots of opportunities for you to make a choice. You could spend a few minutes any time you need to put something together or you could pay for the convenience of everything being in one place. You can make the choice to take on multiple tasks at once that could put a strain on your inventory or you could sit and think about how to best approach things.
I've had conversations with FC mates about this stuff and they've been around longer than me and have multiple retainers just loaded up. Those that make an effort to follow my suggestions have a lot less stress and they have a better idea where things are because there's less to manage.
