They have not "forced SE's hand." They've been doing the thing theyve been doing for YEARS at this point. SE could continue to ignore it, as they always have. Instead they've chosen to placate a small number of people who complain about the "authenticity" of the UNOFFICIAL world first race that they barely acknowledge. SE could also give clear guidelines regarding add-ons, after all they have basically said GSHADE is ok already. Just tell people that if you use a parser any harassment whatsoever in or out of the game, for any reason, is going to be a zero-tolerance bannable offense. Tell people that UI customization is OK, since it is literally a cosmetic change and thats it. This zero-tolerance approach to add-ons is nonsense.

It's even more amusing when you consider that even the addons that do give an advantage, don't give one in the world first race. Because the timeline of the fight needs to be put into the program first for it to be able to do anything. Which requires people clear the fight first.

People are emboldened after mass reporting someone worked. Now the witch hunts have started, and are becoming more widespread.

There are likely more players that use mods for aesthetics, than there are for what ever advantage you think savage raiders are getting from there mods. SE said to stop doing that as well, and what do people do? Post there pics on Twitter of there shirtless male character all nipped up. Why aren't those players banned? Well they weren't mass reported.

You're obviously being intentionally obtuse here. There is such a thing as 'cactbot' which can bend your ping to your will, something that people who have categorically sworn off all mobs can not do. Do you think that doesn't provide any benefit for savage raiders?(see people who care very, very deeply about ̶t̶h̶e̶i̶r̶ ̶d̶a̶m̶a̶g̶e̶ scores on some websites)

The /truth/ is as follows: People are upset that they have been breaking the rules with impunity and suddenly they face(what they knew all along) that their actions have consequences. Now we reach a turning point, knowing that they are acting out of step with the rules established for the game, will people decide to stop using add-ons, or will they create parallel excuses for why they particularly actually deserve to use add-ons. -I mean they can't tell I'm using them. -Who are they to tell ME what I can do?!-

Even without mods or addons do you think lewd pictures of FF14 characters wouldn't exist? Look at Overwatch and Fortnite for clear examples of why that's just not a realistic point of view. Its hard for me to believe that the SE devs are that out of touch with the realities of the internet. You can't escape lewd pictures.

Did you read the rest of my statement which included mention of programs like Cactbot which provide automated callouts. But as I said before none of those have any sort of impact on another player's experience with the game, so why does anyone care what another player is doing?

This all stems from SE failing to do basic updates to the UI QoL, things they have themselves admitted they failed to do.

There's a notable difference between fanart, and using the game itself for the pictures. Especially since the later needs you to mod the game.
