FFXIV: Limited Job and why it doesn't work

The thing is it needs an overhaul for it to be different from the other casters if it were to be regular job. It can't just be spamming 1-2 filler spells while weaving plethora of OGCDs in between. BLM is the sustainable DPS without any specific burst phase, RDM have a buid up to one burst phase, and SMN is going back and forth through 3 different burst phases. What kind of combat mechanic would BLU have were it'd be a regular job? Not only that, but the devs also have to make it balanced with the other DPSes.

The concept of learning spells from monsters is of course already unique to BLU, but we're talking specifically about combat rotation here.

That is an exceptionally terrible idea. Low level content is designed around not having higher level abilities available. I for one am super cool with not needing my full rotation on level 24 trash mobs that die in 6 seconds.

Well technically when BLU become normal job they should have basic rotation about it... and they can make the current skill we have become a "Glamour Skill" system , you know like egi to carbuncle for example... we can keep like both the limited version to enjoy the carnival stuffs , while we can still use the normal version with Glamour Skill system on normal end game content with other jobs.

So in order to make BLU a normal job they'd basically have to make another BLU then?

I like Blue Mage the way it is now.

well in order to make it a normal job they should have some rebalance right with other jobs... even if we want keep the system like now.. or make the current skill that exist become rotation... It will takes some times , but still it will be useful than half baked limited jobs right now with "very limited content" even after level 70.

Yes and that rotation should be unique to BLU and different from the other casters. Otherwise people would complain that it's too similar to BLM/RDM/SMN.
Unfortunately, the current BLU rotation when you go DPS spec IMO it's not different or unique enough. Just spamming filler spells while weaving in OGCDs.
That's why it needs overhaul in some way.

Yoshi-P even mentioned during the last fanfest that they really made sure that Reaper's rotation is unique and different than the other DPS.

Humbly disagree, blus current rotation is really quite different from the other 3 casters and is only "similar" if youre being very reductive

Agree to disagree then. We're talking about the basic rotation outside of the min-maxing moon flute opener (even I doubt moon flute would make it into the regular job anyway).
I surely would want more than just refresh DOT and spamming filler spell while weaving in OGCDs.

Currently you have:

Alternating nightbloom and SoT on 1 min cycles
30s eruption usage+ rose of destruction (or whatever it is)
60s jkick/quasar+sparkstrike + devour+ off guard
90s glass dance+ magic hammer + triple trident combo
120s phantom flurry + ravana ability (cant remember the name) + bristle + matra magic.

That rotation without moon flute is about as in depth as a smn rotation (and ive probably forgotten something), so it really doesnt need as much if anything to be a normal job
