Getting a VA to talk (in several languages, mind) isn't as easy as phoning them in. They need to be paid, and they would need to get that same VA for ARR. I dont know if there were any changes for German or French in the transition to Heavensward, but if there were- then that's even more money. The voice actor isn't going to travel to the studio that hired them and read off some lines for free. Nor is the director going to direct for free, or audio engineers ect ect.

To be entirely fair, even though both dungeons give the same amount of tomes, only Praetorium gives a massive chunk of XP while CM gives barely more than what a normal leveling dungeon would. But yeah, no one is forcing anyone to do the dungeon more than once - you queue to it perfectly knowing there will be cutscenes and if/when the roulette is removed or revamped, say bye bye to the XP/tomes that come with it. You can't have your cake and eat it.

Or. You could just skip doing those two in the roulette cause its inly those two that have unskippable cutscenes. I rather like the amount of exp it gives and it helps newbies because a lot of stuff is happening in those two dungeons. My first time for both of those was watching a cutscene and then immediately another because the team beat those boss without me while bitching at me the whole time to "watch it on my own time" and so forth

You realize that queuing for the dungeon fills with other direct queues as well as roulette right?

Roulette doesn’t only fill with other roulletters

It’s there to help fill dungeons people need semi randomly.

I mean it's only faceroll gameplay now that you can get ironworks gear before even entering the damn dungeon. At launch it was apparently decently challenging for a normal difficulty dungeon. At least ultima weapon was

Personally wouldn't the more logical approach to the MSQ roulette is simply do a check to see if the players actually completed the scenario already?

Just do a quick vote where everyone must do a check to skip the scenes, but everyone has to be in agreement.

If the person never completed the MSQ dungeon then the voting option does not appear.

I actually prefer Praetorium to Castrum and it's not simply because of the XP. The longer cutscenes let me do lots of non game things. Castrum you need to be active a lot more of the time. If they let you skip you'd not get the xp you are getting now for Praetorium and most wouldn't be happy about that.

It should be interesting to see if they adjust how xp is awarded and if the duties are changed in anyway with the new ARR revamp.

If you do that people will start avoiding new players, perhaps even kicking them to let someone who did already see the cutscenes in, or harassing them because it will take more time to complete the instance, destroying what the main point of this roulette is : helping new players to see all of the dungeon without them feeling guilty for it.

And then you have people abandoning because they want to run into a roulette without newbies.

I feel like some people are misunderstanding the current situation. Entire groups of 80s being throw in there and forced to watch the cutscenes even though nobody needs them is not an unfortunate side effect. It is the intended design.

They've decided the playerbase as a whole cannot be trusted with the option to skip them, so we're going to have to into the roulette knowing we're going to have to watch 10-30 minutes of cutscenes or we're not going to be doing it at all.
