Main Scenario Roulette streamlining suggestion

Alternately, it's a way for people to get exp by helping new players through the 2 least queued for story dungeons.

There's so much complaining going on by people who have completed it. You don't have to do the roulette.

It's fine the way it is. It's not even that much of a time investment. It's maybe twice as long as the average dungeon run. It's not even that bad.

The exp grind is pretty monotonous. I freely admit to being lazy about it. If I can get extra exp while I eat, cool.

However, the main purpose of the roulette is to get new people through the last two ARR story dungeons (and not harassed for skipping cutscenes in the process), and it's doing that. I feel like if SE added it to the trust system that'd probably be better, but for now it's at least somewhat functional. I doubt they'll touch it at this point.

Some FC mates of mine took a new recruit into Castrum. He's new to the game and was just going along with what they were telling him. They chose to do it unsynced, thinking they could skip the cut scenes. Being a couple of 70's, they figured they would just mow through everything and get in and out of there in 20 or less. Don't ask me how but they found a way to wipe in there, couldn't skip the cut scenes and denied themselves and him exp and tomes. It actually took them longer than a roulette run. They did finish, eventually and I was quite upset with them for attempting to do what has been done to many players prior to this change. I told them it served them right.

The new recruit did not know what he was getting into at all. None of the things that synced parties still need to do were explained to him. He felt like he wasn't contributing and was wasting everyone's time. Just like those of us who had to deal with that nonsense before they made the change. There is a very specific, and a very strict reason why the devs forced the cut scenes in these two instances. Negligence, ignorance, or defiance comes with a possible penalty as I have described above.

In short, there is no reason to run it unsynced.

The dungeon itself being un-skippable for roulette, you know, I'll get behind that. I think it's fair since they increased the rewards for exp and tomes, so you'd need to put about 56 minutes exactly into it. (It was 56 min with a fully geared out party of 7 players in ilvl 300+ gear and 1 new member of our fc who was just coming into the msq storyline with essentially relic gear at level).

The main issue I have with this is the UNCAPPED and UNSYNCED version. Someone please for the love of god tell me WHY THIS is ALSO unskippable?? Synced and roulette I'm fine with. But unsynced? Is a giant middle finger to everyone.

Probably because the roulette just pulls the dungeons. None of them are modified. To do this they'd have to have 2 seperate sets of instances. More work than its worth.

I soloed both places as WAR70 with 400 ilvl gear. It seems like the 70's who went in with them didn't have appropriate gear or common sense unsynced. Unsynced should have no bearing on the players like synced does (at cap). I've run countless people from 1-60 dungeons at 70 with WAR solo (me and the other player) and have had no issues whatsoever. I'm not saying that ALL players are that good (or well trained in common sense), but you shouldn't be trying to keep players from doing anything unsynced unless it's relevant content.

Good for you, but none of this is even relevant. Who cares why they wiped. These two players avoid main story roulette like the plague, and were uninformed that the cut scenes are not skippable even when running it unsynced. It should be quite clear why they cannot be skipped even when running it unsynced, and that reason is they want players to run this content as intended. Yet this reason does not and cannot penetrate the thick-skulled. The devs understand it is a time sink, and have adjusted the rewards accordingly.

I'm sorry your FC has some bad players who caused that to the newbies, and didn't bother to check the live letter producer note and run tests prior till the new change (omething that everyone else did lol). Might want to consider checking your members and advising them for the future, since they don't seem to read the live letter or look around online for new information that comes to the game (lodestone is amazing for this!). Didn't say that I was the rule maker, but it's common among MMO's to keep players in content according to a routine (duty roulette) and keep the rest separate (unsynced). This isn't uncommon.

I would think you should be able to skip the cutscenes if there's NO NEW players in the instance with you. Like if everyone in the party that has done it before can have scenes skip as well.

Just a nice QoL in case while the non-skippable scenes are for new players. Honestly I only use this Roulette to help power level my lower level classes/jobs as quickly as possible. I really hate how compare to the other Roulettes this one is the only one that gives the decent amount of EXP. Otherwise I'd avoid it. It's gets so boring watching the same scenes over and over again everyday.
