Judging from the replies from this thread I think the reason for the NA population not raiding is pretty clear. People have a billion and one excuses for not wanting to go near raid content and very little to none of it has to do with themselves.
Most of these excuses just boils down to 'elitism' and everyone seems to have their own arbitrary definition of the word. Something doesn't goes their way? Elitism. Expecting them to have a competent understanding of their jobs before tackling currently the second hardest content in the game? Elitism. Using ACT and fflogs for self improvement, since it shows all of your actions in a single attempt of a boss? Using it to examine a fight closely such as which mechanics happens at what times and what times are the best for aligning buffs as well as healing and mitigation to maximize damage to a boss? Elitism. These tools are way more than just a parser but of course it's way easier to just unfairly slap a label on something they've never even used before then dismiss it forever.
At the start of 4.0, SE have made almost everything easier to play than ever before. From battle jobs to extreme trials, and savage raids, they have been more accessible than ever before since the goal behind this is to get as many people to attempt these content as possible. While I do understand that they may not appeal to every single active player in this game just like how I will probably never get into crafting/gathering side of the game, the difference is that you will never see me go around pretending I have some level of understanding of them and saying how much the those content suck and get mad at SE for putting more resources towards developing content I don't play.
It's not a coincidence that raiding related threads are always fastest growing threads on here. Every time one pops up it would garner 30+ replies in matters of hours and most of them are filled with people who never even touches raids making nonsensical to downright stupid accusations about the raiding scene in this game as well as seeking validation from the same type of players in the process. It's always funny to me that how these people claims to "not care" about raiding in this game and yet they are the same people who frequents these types of threads. If people have so much time to spend on threads going back and forth about something they "don't care" about, they'd certainly also have time to look up guides on jobs they enjoy playing as well as guides on the raids they plan on doing, both of which are very easy to find btw, and practice rotations from them, as much as they don't want to admit it, I am willing to bet they'd enjoy the game more that way.
