Because Forgall and Ozma are well designed fights (though I wish tanks would keep Forgall in the middle of the arena). While we wiped frequently to the two bosses (and eventually getting Duty Failed), we all communicated with each other and tried new things. It was rewarding, despite losing. Every other 24-man raid I don't think there was as much communication...
Now if the fights were all like Cloud of Darkness, then it would have been bad. Cloud of Darkness is easily the worst fight in FFXIV.
Yes please. mechanics are non-threatening, the only risk of dying is a flub during a huge pull. Which most dungeons won't even let you do that anymore.
I guess failure is literally not a option in dungeons.

All mechanics are threatening. That's why you abide by them. Whether solo or in group, I KNOW most, if not all of us here have failed a duty in story mode. Or what most refer to as faceroll content? So when you say the only risk of dying is a flub, I have to ask what other risk is there?
In a way I get it. If a dungeon run is crazy smooth. Cleared in 20 minutes (maybe less for some dungeons), and no problems. It's kind of just "meh". You have to rely on things going wrong in order to test your skill and get some kind of excitement. I also understand that other people are different. They LOVE those smooth runs, and they gain confidence from those. When things are so diverse among a player base, I can only imagine how difficult it is for the designers to come up with something suitable for everyone. Both those wanting more difficulty and less need to try and understand this. But do know that the devs can release content that is just stupid difficult if they wanted. So yeah, be careful what you ask for.
Well, I could argue to try and complete an objective within a current beast tribe zone when you are several levels below the surrounding mobs. It isn't what I could call easy by any means.
In FFXI soloing a mob of the same level was a daunting task for most jobs. In XIV, all classes I've played can take down single mobs a few levels higher without much trouble, it's the damn adds that will get you. You usually can run to safety to prevent yourself from dying, but the way I see this is an attempt at your objective that failed. Even though you did not die, you still have to try again.
Ok, now with that said, I am still going to agree with you. Wanna know why? Because you can still out run a mob when they slap weight on you. :p
Oh. I'm still scared of the Sylph lands. At level 60 the mobs don't even attack me but I'm still scared when I go in. Oh, the memories. That place is beautiful, the storylines are fun, the music is just perfect, but it still gives me the creeps. Especially when Odin once showed up while I was inside.
