30 Minute Lockout for Leaving Roulette's isn't Working as Intended.

What I would like to see is a 30-minute permanent mark next to the person's name, like the green-leaf, for people who get kicked due to harassment. This way everyone knows that they acted inappropriately. Or maybe a 1-day permanent mark if someone gets vote kicked for harassment 5 or 10 times or something.

If they feel that they were not harassing anyone, but were kicked for another reason (like difference in play style or being a first timer), they should report it to a GM and the GM should take some action against the person who initiated the vote kick.

Lately I've had a bunch of people dropping out as soon as they load in because the don't like the dungeon. Instead of increasing the lockout time I'd like it if you were locked into that dungeon until you complete it; so for example if you drop from Steps of Fate every time you queue for trial roulette you get nothing but Steps of Fate until you complete it.

Actually, please tell me it was a troll post, and I am just way to tired to see it. It has to be, because it is probably hands down the worst, and worst thought out, idea I have read on these forums.

I had this thought before, and I think it is a pretty good one. There are some flaws, like if you don't log in for so long afterwards, it is dead content. But they are pretty minor. I think setting this for a week or two count down would be a good idea. Of course it would have to reset when roulettes roll over patches and the like.

I personally think the penalty is fine. Should it be a little harsher on people intentionally quitting simply because they don't like the dungeon? Perhaps. But in 6 pages I haven't seen a single viable suggestion for an alternative. If you can't even come up with a replacement system in a hypothetical situation, then I think it's about as good as it's going to get. The punishment is long enough to discourage, without being like some medieval style death penalty that some of you are looking for.

I have ran a duty before, where, the cleric was using cleric stance throughout the dungeon when I told him nicely, the guy said " because I'm cool that", so I'm like nevermind. The tank wasn't tanking either using skills that doesn't generate enimity. The other DPS wasn't doing much. So.. obviously the mobs will mostly fly to me and the dps made a sarcastic remark " wow how do you tank like this, so awesome". So I've had enough and decided to vote kick, despite explaining and explaining how to make the run work.was rejected and I got kicked instead, I found out later on that they were all in the same FC and they were friends. So yeah do I deserve the mark too?

Understand that when extreme measures are implemented, there will be drawbacks, the more extreme the implementation the bigger the drawback. We have a blacklist and I've seen people who have no clue that soloing A rank hunts is prohibited getting blacklisted by all the hunt linkshell. Having another thing to shame someone isn't a good idea.

I've never been in a group like that before. I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

But as I mentioned in my post, if a player is unjustifiably kicked then it is abuse of the system, which should be reported to GMs. (In a perfect world) the GMs would actually investigate the matter and impose a harsher punishment on the one who abused the vote kick system.

It has been stated before that a different playstyle from the majority is a valid kick, and that pretty much anything falls under this blanket. TBH, putting a punishment of any form on people who are kicked, other than the actual removal just opens the door for troll teams, or threats of a kick for doing things like rolling on loot. This is one of those things you have to think through when proposing.

The 30 minute abandon rule is pretty good, because its not so harsh that it promotes a huge amount of trolling for kicks, but annoying enough that most will just stick with it rather than leave. I have seen a huge decrease in the number of people leaving since its implementation. The goal of any of these measures should be to stem the issue, without creating new ones.

30 minute lockout is fine. I think anything more then that and then the penalty exceeds the crime.

I see your point.
I believe I am naive about this still, as I have yet to actually encounter a troll team in DF. I have encountered a troll player a couple times, but they were removed as soon as possible with a vote kick.
