Why are low standards for dps acceptable?

You missed the point.

I'm simply saying that I began doing the MSQ right at release, and was leveling there. The Lv50 quest (after already completing all job quests prior to HW's release) did not (or does not) show in the quest list. I read patch notes after I was Lv56 and was at work with some free time and was like "Oh crap, I've been sucking lol...".

Depends. If the burn is slow then I will say something or ask the healer to help dps. If the burn is at a moderate pace. I wont say anything. It is DF after all.
As a tank I dont accept piss poor dps though to where I have to stop and type to tell the player that they are sucking.

For BLM, with the more-or-less useless/niche spells they have (Surecast, Sleep, Lethargy...) you have plenty of room. Heck, I still have some PvP skills on my bars from Slaughter...

Sure, you'll need them for certain fights, but for normal dungeon-running...you really don't need them...

Well you didnt mension that this was when HW have not being released yet, But readin the way of how you talked, it was moslty assume that you didnt check the orther jobs quests.
Paying a look to the patch notes is good from time to time, but i understand that some people dont even bother in tring to read or did you at least watched any of the videos prior to HW ?

Let's look at the facts shall we? Prior to HW release player has completed all their job quests. After HW release there is no in-game notification of new job quests for the player to do. Player continues with their MSQ and does not read patch notes because it is not mandatory and are busy having fun with the new story. Player is in the mindset that this is a game and not a job and is not thinking like one of the hardcore elitists (Oh I better go research all this stuff that just got released in case I miss something totally vital to my game life and therefore become complete trash) Player is then politely informed when they reach end game and no longer have MSQ to work on that they have new job quests for awesome new skills and should go check them out. Player is grateful and does so, learns to use new job skills and the world continues to spin. Sorry all I see in you right now is an elitist who thinks everyone should automatically know things about the game based on some innate knowledge and research everything about the game whenever new patches are released. I stand by everything I have said here, and will only admit I could have said some of it nicer. Have a nice day/

But, I gotta ask, didn't it strike you as odd when you got to about 54-55 and you hadn't learned anything new? I can understand not knowing for a few levels, but after a certain point I'd be wondering if I was missing something. Even when leveling 1-50 we got class/job quests every 5 levels.

I am ok with blm doesnt use enochian as long as they still can do the old fire III fire I bliz III, i know with someone control the enochian/fire IV/bliz IV is kinda stressful
But the blm i met in expert spam fire III x2 - bliz x4- fire III x2 - ....
And when i tell her "you can use bliz III for full umbral ice stack and spam fire I for more damage cause it can proc fire III" she call me "elitist" and said " i can do what i want, this is just a game"
And when i complain about her in the forum, someone told she's doing fine and nothing wrong with her rotation, and i also get 10days banned from my complaintion cause of offend others.
The problem is not how bad you playing, everyone had their bad time ( i still remember the time i spam cure II cause i think cure II is better than cure I when i played my whm until someone show me that cure I is better for mana management ) but if you keep being a stubborn and ignore everyone who try to help you by give you useful tips and advises then it is your problem. ( not everyone's tip and advise is useful, but at least you can give it a try and see it is or isnt suitable for you )
