Best argument for Balmung yet, in my opinion. No really. :P

The only problem with this method of selling houses is if you are part of a FC already and wish to stay that way. I suppose you can make an alt to buy the FC and own the house, but I personally find that unappealing. It depends on the person buying.
They really need a way to either sell your house to another player or sell it back to the system for a reduced rate. I'm sure there are at least a few people holding onto houses they don't necessarily need or want any more because they don't want to go through the hassle that is the current method of selling but also don't want to lose the gil they invested.
Dawg you're the one who went to a thread about "there's LITERALLY no house plots on Balmung" to post "Heh. Funny how people who pushed their way onto a server are upset at how crowded it is" and expected anything other than justified derision. I mean for real. Your post, if not calling to task those who can't get a house, is worse than useless. It's worthless moralizing over videogame decisions like there's some sort of ethical failing of being on a server, with no connection to the topic being discussed.
Hmm. Well if the popular opinion is that joining full legacy servers or not leaving a full legacy server is the way to go; then that seems unlikely to happen. Since many people prefer playing on such servers, the smaller servers' housing plots fill up at a much smaller rate.
Oh, I get it now.
So low pop guys are threatened by people moving to high pop servers, since that could spell the death spiral of several places and no one wants that to happen to their home. Limited housing is thus seen as a positive, a thing to keep transfers flowing in both directions instead of only one. While I guess I can understand, that is a spiteful way to see things. Maintaining a system that can lock people out of houses and create terrible economic messes because you think it'll have people go to a small server is pretty... well, shitty of you. The way to make smaller servers more populated would be to ease restrictions of transfer to them, not to make life so shitty on bigger servers that people overcome paying for a transfer and either losing their fortune or paying more for alt transfers too.
No.. it's not out of spite that I don't wish for another addition of wards/plots.. Rather, I wish for housing the be in limited supply so that it's sought after..
But having reflected on the current state of the game and how the gil flows... I think I recant my opinions and perhaps SE should just open up wards.. But somehow make the houses bigger with a bigger price tag, or something..
I realized that the game has nothing to spend your money on.. It's got me thinking, maybe there's no flow of gil from players because of the lack of gil sink the game has.. What better way to make people open up their wallets than to buy housing.
In fact, the FC airship is pretty much the only thing keeping me in the MB right now..
I would fully stand behind the fc airship costing as much as 100million gil... just so the gil hoarders will finally have something to use their damn money on.
Before then, perhaps houses can get the job done.
The problem with Gil Sinks being on access to things means that it locks anyone who isn't a Madman out of stuff, which is probably an even worse fate than server economic inflation. It should be on upgrades and fancy stuff after you have things, while the bar to get in is low. With houses being restricted, it means that if stuff is full demand builds, too; if they added a couple districts to Balmug even the smallest house on the worst plot will be bid up fast. Only if they open it all up and let people just buy their hearts out would there be no economic nightmares.
Why? I know you've changed your opinion, but this position honestly baffles me, and I'd really like to understand. What was your reason for wanting housing to be sought after?
Personally, I don't think it counts as 'sought after' if there's no legitimate way to sell a house. There's no seeking involved - there's just those who got there first, and those who are SOL. Maybe you were hoping for an actual market where housing was a commodity between players?
(I hope this doesn't come across as snarky. I'm genuinely curious.)
