By the way, would a male Viera be wearing high heels?
The females do because that's how their feet are structured, similar to a bunny standing on its hind legs. Because, you know, Viera are bunnies. Going by That Concept Art™, the males have the same foot structure, so it stands to reason that any footwear they'll come with should offer similar support.
Namely, high heels.
And to be fair, not all Viera wear the heels in FF XII. If they go barefoot they don't need them. But since Fran is out and about she wears them for protection I'm assuming. :v
It looks to me like the Viera in XIV might have normal feet though. They might just have high heels as their racial gear.
Actually, concept art shows them with digitigrade feet (heel off the ground), just not wearing heeled shoes to "support" it - which makes much more sense to me anyway, for both genders. They shouldn't have evolved that foot shape if they can't naturally support themselves on it.
I also suspect heels would interfere with a proper digitigrade gait rather than support it. From trying it out, it feels like your heels need to be able to move up and down, not have a heel spike keeping it X distance off the ground.
it’s March.
i’m gonna make it
Aside from 12 the official viera concept art shows them wearing standard boots and shoes just as often as barefoot or the heel-spike which would lead to the conclusion that it's simply a fashion choice
and you are correct if they had feet like an actual rabbit or kangaroo or whatnot. The heel would actually severely hinder their movement rather than offer support
Every time I see this thread updated, there's a spark of hope that some new info came out, only to be crushed with an iron fist
Lol I don't see any new info being revealed this close to fanfest, but it's super close now!
3 weeks. ;.;
What do you guys make of this?

A variation of Viera resembling a young elezen?
She had been talking about ear shapes, so quite possible she was still just referring to that - a variation with ears further apart so they look more like Elezen ears, position-wise.
I think it's best not to read too much into it. Get excited now over your ideal version of what it might mean, and you'll most likely be disappointed later. I'd rather just "wait and see" and get excited when they actually reveal things.
Respectfully, "young Elezen" would be a poor way to describe an ear style. There isn't exactly a huge difference between the ears of younger or older Elezen, so the "young" descriptor is a little useless there. Not to mention, I can't imagine they'd move the placement of the ears so drastically on the head, though I suppose it's possible.
I was thinking more of the combination of "Elezen-like" ears and Viera face, which together might give an overall appearance of an Elezen with more childlike proportions - not even necessarily looking like the in-game Elezen child models.
It seems risky to guess at what she intended. There's the language barrier, and the fact that (I assume) she wasn't able to complete her description and clarify what she meant. Without the need to keep future secrets, it could have been a very mundane conversation.
During the art panel they showed the concept art of the four faces, four ear types and the eight unique hairstyles. Here's a cropped screen capture of that for reference:

Hmm ... No. Faces from Hairstyle #1, #2, #3 and #4 are all unique faces.
But I can already tell the ears are set to the faces. So not much "variety" there, we gotta stick with presets again.

So comparing our 4 ladies from the trailer we got from right to left... (ear checkup)
Face #1
Face #2
Face #2
Face #4
But then again we get some additional mouth, nose and eye features that alter the face a bit.. So yea
Guess i'm not going to be touching veira. no fucking way i'm gonna let people assume things about me and especially not those things.
While real-world associations are unfortunate, people aren't necessarily going to assume the same thing about in-game Viera. It's just going to be another race. If you actually want to play as a female one, and are only worried about what people in-game will think, I don't think you need to be. Just go for it, and play her in a way that doesn't support those associations.
PS. You may want to remove that swear word from your post. And Laerune from quoting it as well. It's against forum rules and can get your post deleted because of it.
Quite the opposite, in fact.
Art of a G'raha Tia minion was shown in the community stream, lending more credibility to the later leaks that mentioned Crystal Tower - and genderlocked races.
