I'm not even going to argue, just, stop acting like you know what you're talking about when you don't.
Shinryu EX, unsynced. Some idiot had no idea what they were doing and even once wiped the group.
I know we don’t name but they were...uh....me. And me is sorry for being bad.
Doing Don Mheg and I notice no interjects from the tank to keep the damage up buffs from going off. Needless to say, a certain tank(Number 2) didn't want to hear it, despite it being a completely non-hostile reminder.
Number 3 was the healer and was a fellow crown holder.

You, sir, are a hero, and your use of misdirection made me laugh and cheered me up! Thank you.
I didn't know that. I'll keep that in mind when I tank.
The use of "remember" here can be interpreted as domineering. It's not conscious on your part, but that's probably what rubbed him the wrong way.
It's hard for guys to communicate with guys. My instinct is to be cute and motherly, which doesn't come off threatening. But it's a lot harder to play up being fuzzy in text.
Drunk tanking Aurum vale last night on my tank sprout. Poor sprout healer! what a disastrous first room lmao I can do rdps amazingly after a few drinks, learning that mdps is a total no go, and probably tanking as well
I don't know the exact rules of this thread, but I guess I'll tell a story I'm proud of and another that was funny but I'm a bit ashamed of to balance it out. If I'm doing this wrong, please let me know.

So, the other day I was doing Ramuh and I was a little bit stressed by this because I didn't entirely know the mechanic of the fight (I did it a few times before already, but I keep forgetting about mechanics a lot of the time).
I was a WHM and I tried to get as mentally ready as I could to make things run smoothly, keeping an eye on my other support just in case things went sour so we always have a support up and running.
I saw the fear marker over someone's head and I remembered all of the sudden what I had to do, so I ran next to them and zapped them to snap them out of the fear.
Everything was going smoothly from that point onwards up to a certain point where someone was going to get feared and everyone ran away from them. At this point I was panicking because I positioned next to them out of habit but I had no thunder to cleanese them...
So I picked the first random dude with a thunder on their head and pulled them towards us.
And God knows I'm lucky I'm slow doing stuff, because if I pulled them any faster, they would have left the poor guy next to me feared for a minute, because the person I picked just. kept. running.
Thankfully everything went well and I ended up getting 4 commendations, so I'm pretty proud of that.

The other story is about this time I was at the hard version of this Tonberry dungeon. We were on a pretty easy boss fight and everything was going well, but my PC seems to be fond of untargeting my targets from time to time? So I was going to cast benediction on the tank, but I moved the camera a bit and the game detected that as "Well, now I want to untarget this person".
I casted Benediction on myself.
Being the profesional healer that I am, I obviously panic and try to target my tank as fast as I can (Which, as you might have guessed, a "panic fast" targeting is much, much slower than just normally targeting the tank. But hey, you have to work under the circumstances you're given, right?)
Nobody said anything about me and I sigh in relief... until a DPS talks about how he did something wrong.
DPS: Man, I messed up hard my rotation...
Of course I, being the absolute idiot of a support that I am, couldn't let him feel bad.
Me: If it makes you feel better, I accidentally casted Benediction on myself.
Tank: ... ooooh, so that's why you stopped healing me for a while.
Me: SHUT UP.
DPS: HAHAHAHA
DPS2: HAHAHAHAHA
It was a fun, albeit really embarrasing moment, I must admit. Thank God people in this game seem to be mostly nice.
#justwhitemagethings
Don't worry, happened to every WHM I know at least once. It's also great if you land in Aurum Vale and forget that you don't have Bene yet. Or you miscalculate server delay and it goes off but the tank already splatted by the time it actually would've hit.
So.. I was just trying to level up my warrior and doing Holminster Switch for a total of 5 times today, 4 out of those 5 always ended up in a wipe from one of the big pulls because of various reasons.
On the first run, the astro claimed to be lagging so we wiped.. which is not a big deal..
On the second run, i got an undergeared whm wearing ilvl 355 almost full set gears minus the 390 weapon and some accs.. i only pulled 2 out of the 3 mob packs and we wiped..
On the third run, the astro complained about astro being hard to use and she hasnt been using it in a long time.. i don't think this one matters at all.
On the fourth run, we got a decently fine AST but there was this RDM who was really undergeared by using lv 69 gear from castrum Abania. The fight just lasted far too long so we wiped. Healer made a mistake during the rotating mechanic and died from it, the RDM didn't bother to raise the healer at all for more than 30 secs until he finally decided to raise the healer with a swiftcast into the front of the the boss while he was doing right knot move, so the healer got pacified and unable to move for the upcoming left knot.. healer died and the rdm didn't bother to raise the healer at all for like another 20 secs until he decided to hard cast raise for the whole duration of verraise. RDM then commented now it was lucky for us to have an RDM in the party.
Black Hayate dropped and I won it ^^’.
For the fifth run, i had to wait an effing 17mins as a tank to get the duty popped and I ended up with the that same RDM with Castrum Abania gear! When I pulled the first bear, I noticed the scholar didn't use aeterflow, my first impression was kinda bad with resulted me in less pull on the first segment of the dungeon because I dont want to repeat past mistakes. As we were fighting the first boss, the bad geared RDM (i'm gonna call him RDM1 to make it easier) asked the other RDM(RDM2) about why RDM2 didn't use any AoE at all, no verthunder II, no veraero II. RDM2 didn't reply at all despite he was mistyping something on the chat earlier on about someone who were waiting for him to join them. I tried to play the Devil's advocate by asking RDM1 about his bad gear to which he said it's because he doesn't have enough tomestones. RDM1 thought that I was defending RDM2 because the 3 of us bared the healer happened to be on the same server, so he told me to relax because his question about AoE wasnt directed at me.
During the 2nd segment, me and RDM1 were trolling at each other spewing nonsense. Then when I said "plebs will be plebs", RDM2 broke the vow of silence and said "and a** wholes will be a** wholes", take note that aside from the asterisks, this isn't a typo of mine. He then said "If I was dieing all the time and not doing my job, then you will have something to moan about, but I not."
As we reached the Final Boss, RDM1 just plunged directly on the boss followed by RDM2, i was watching them out of the arena for like 15 secs and joined through the battle after the arena got locked off. Both RDMs died and healer raised Both RDMs. I fought the boss normally but RDM2 wouldnt bother to move out of AoE while the other was being locked by the chain, RDM1 returned to entrance and we fought the battle as 3. RDM1 acknowledge of pulling the boss by mistake and calling it LAG casting, meanwhile RDM2 died again and again after failing to dodge mechanic multiple times.. I actually lost counts how many times RDM2 died.
As the fight ended, I wanted to commendate the healer for staying with us, but he just said "take care" and left the duty without me being able to commendate him.
Note: From a sheer glance by the aggro meter, RDM1 who has a bad gear actually did more dps than RDM2
Had a tank run through the entire dungeon waiting for no one (one of the dps had never been to the dungeon before and obviously wanted to see the cutscenes). He wouldn’t respond to anything in the chat and would just rush off. So the rest of the party decided to hang with the new guy. The soloist tank of course died and we walked pasted his corpse (a few times) and then waited for him at the last boss gate
Is it me, or are Titania EX runs more prone to failure than Innocence EX runs?
I'm having more success clearing and farming Innocence EX a lot more than Titania EX.
There's just so many mechanics that you can fail without destroying the raid in Innocence vs Titania. You don't move out of Swords before they hit you in Innocence, that's on you and you alone. You screw up Puddles in Titania and the whole raid will potentially wipe due to Add Explosion or Fire Spread.
Titania is the worst. Pug groups can barely ever figure out tethers without at least a tank dying, adds is pretty much always a failure, and even if they get past adds they die or screw up the puddles. It's literally a nightmare. I am glad I got my gwiber early, but every single time I level an alt class to 80, and I don't already have the weapon I get filled with dread. Pugs literally just can't. Doesn't help that they nearly always have poor DPS even when they don't die to mechanics. The "clear for one then farm" parties are pretty much all traps, heck the farm parties are traps too so I guess it doesn't really matter.
Innocence farms are usually just a couple people dying over and over constantly. Now the worst part of these farms is when they panic because there are two of them with aoe markers on their head so they run through the group to go to the other side, hit everyone with the marker, and also blow up a star. The other issue is greedy dps staying in too long, hitting the group with the marker, and blowing up the star. Also, for me at least, the gwiber pretty much NEVER drops. I have cleared Innocence EX about 160 something times, and only ever seen it drop once, literally.
A Dancer literally carried our entire party to victory. They healed when the healer rip’d and then some how managed to tank after the tank rip’d and then when the other dps died, they dps’d us to victory. This is the shite legends are made of (and also how dancer gets nerfed later)
I'm getting to the point where I'ma drop healer for a while. I don't think I ever seen such bad tanks in the 6 years I've played.
Well I did the the AA 80 dungeon as a SCH.
The 1st thing the tank did was oooooof course, race all the way to the grabbed every mob, tried to set up and we wipe.
I spammed Lustate, barely able to get that out because I have to be in battle to use AF. Tried as fast as I could to use all CDs didn't work.
(Because it's not instant, Eos still has to register and all that good stuff...)
Then the 1st boss, she doesn't move for crap.
2nd boss, she eats every debuff and vul stack.
Final boss, I tried to skip the CS, but she goes into boss.
So imagine if I tried to watch the CS. (I watched a video beforehand.)
Dear bad and rude tanks. Just stop please. - Love healer.
Seriously. Stop before I friggin' let you die and leave. I almost did tbh.
It's because it's getting SO bad, these impatient tanks are workin' me nerves lol.
Jesus dude. xD

So, I did Containment Bay S1T7 for the first time today and I fell off the edge because I'm an idiot, apparently. But then some other idiot gives me a commendation. WTF?
As PLD, I had a smooth Castrum Meridianum run for my Main Scenario Roulette (nice tomes and some extra EXP woot).
However, this smooth run was tainted by WHM and DRK accusing a Ninja of being AFK and doing nothing.
All that I saw the Ninja doing earlier was pull ahead recklessly during the beginning set of mobs and get knocked out to 0 HP. It wasn't much of an issue to me because the pulls afterwards ended up good.
One of them started to initiate a vote kick before the third boss and it got rejected. When the WHM started accusing the Ninja of being AFK, the rest of the party stayed silent. Only replies were said after vote kicks were mysteriously being initiated and the WHM/DRK duo started putting down the Ninja further. The Ninja player typed out that their comments were uncalled for. She also mentioned she only played for a couple of weeks. Luckily the rest of the team and myself assured her that most players aren't like that. Hopefully the newbie Ninja meets nicer people in future instances.
Had a Labyrinth of the Ancients yesterday with a Blackmage who thought they would be sly and AFK the entire time. Would take the teleport to the boss then sit back and do nothing, maybe cast a Fire or Blizz 3 with like a minute between each cast. The whole party noticed it and to make things worse, they would not roll on the items so by the time it does run out the next boss was dead already and they would open a new chest. Yet of course as soon as the final boss is pulled they had zero issue greeding the items remaining. So all of us in agreement to not let someone slide by for doing nothing, I think a few people got amnesia on the second Ancient Flare and swiftly kicked em on reset.
Got an ARR leviathan trial and the moment we pulled the other tank said "brb" and stayed AFK till we finish the fight. The moment we finish he left right away.
Also, in a treasure map party under the rule "everyone brings one Zonureskin map" we got a few players that used gliderskin maps.
To be honest, after Eureka nothing surprises me anymore in FFXIV. There I ended reading the complaints from AFK people that the instanced sucked because fates weren't spawning fast enough.
I've had a couple of healers who use every opportunity to assert themselves over me.
Usually they stand at the exit of a boss arena as the fight ends and try really hard to get a lead.
I can speedrun, but when I stop for a second because I notice someone is lagging behind and I want to make sure everything is okay, and you race ahead and pull everything, you're not optimizing. You're just causing chaos.
Additionally, being able to park yourself against a wall doesn't mean you can do the dungeon faster than anyone else. It means you're ranged and don't have to worry about grouping anything up, or where the rest of the party is in relation to you.
What's even more bizarre is that these healers know the dungeon isn't threatening, but they insist on adhering to mechanics that the community collectively ignores.
One or two of these healers have been the "leave me at 20%" types.
Which would be fine -- if I trusted you.
Trust is hard to establish when you don't know the mechanics of the fight, and I have to take extra steps to ensure my safety.
It's also hard to establish if you're so busy looking at your bar that you don't notice the boss has moved and you get cleaved.
That one button rotation is a real doozy.
You're not impressing me. It feels predatory, and it makes me think you're a creepy, petulant manchild with a fragile ego.
I frequently run ahead of the tank, not even thinking about it. Both healer and DPS. I don't pull any adds, this doesn't mean they are trying to speed run anything. Sometimes I put on auto run and look away, or tab out for a second, literally not paying attention to whether the tank is stopped or not.
Unless they are pulling for you, in my opinion - get over it.
This instance they may have pulled for you so I will give that only in that case.
So I got Dun Scaith on my DRK in my alliance roulette. Me and some people claim we haven't got this raid in a long time and it showed as soon as the first boss. Everyone gets hit pretty hard, there are some deaths but we pull through.
Ferdiad, nothing major, I tank it just fine and mechanics are done correctly. Though I can't help but watch the healers do more dps than healing... welp they kept me alive so it's no big deal. Right?
Proto Ultima, I tank it, fight goes smoothly except this time the healers really are doing more dps than healing. AST who was on diurnal sect never once threw an Aspected Benefic my way and SCH didn't throw an Adlo either.
Scathach cometh. Once again I tank it and oh boy they keep dpsing and not healing me and of course I die. I suggest they should you know, heal their tank that is MT?
The fight ends, we arrive at Diabolos, I'm about to pull and...I'm kicked.
No answers whatsoever from the healers or anyone else in the party, just straight up kicked. Just waoh.
Pretty normal. People usually like to take out their rage on the tank in alliance raid, I'd guess it was a healer who kicked you. Did you say anything at all? Usually if you say something they will kick last boss, happens all the time. The others in your party will generally just click yes on any kick you make doesn't matter who or for what.
Yeah, that was enough. Trust me. Players in this game do that all the time.
I have talked about being kicked before in this thread many times, and I am not exaggerating. Players in this game are extremely passive-aggressive, if they have buddies it just emboldens them - they can kick whomever they want whenever they want in their minds.
Did you say it in like a certain way or something?
Sometimes it's how you say it too, but I mean like...
Nowadays you can't say a damned thing without someones feelers hurt so I just stop talking lmao.
Screw it. I'm a mentor just to see whats up and help when I can in NN.
People are more appreciative. Dungeons people do whatever and don't listen
and get buttpained when they die and you try to help so I'm done helping lol.
I going to say something about alliance roulettes: in general, people there play with their brains turned off. Healers and tanks don't want to do anything related to their role. In the future don't bother and avoid tanking those bosses unless you end with a healer that can heal and do dps at the same time.
It literally doesn't matter how you say anything. Better off saying nothing. Even genuine help is taken the wrong way in this game. Kicking is the least of it, people report constantly too - advice for these forums as well. :)
Last night I was doing PoTD leveling my monk, one of them started getting mad at me in the chat for "not helping" because I was clearing rooms on my own. I just straight up said in the chat "just kick me", and they did. Just how it is.
If you do want to say something, I say don't pretty it up, say what you mean. They will probably kick you anyway - most definitely if they have a buddy.
I'm scared to say hi anymore in the dungeons now.
Me: Hi all!
"KICK 'EM! KICK 'EM FOR SAYING HI AND NOT SPRINTING AT FULL FORCE TO THE MOBS! REPORT AND CRY ABOUT THEM ON THE FORUMS THEN HAVE A 40000 PAGE DEBATE ABOUT IT!"
https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/...75/228/def.gif
One dungeon? Nope.. that's about MOST dungeons.
Unfortunately the passive-aggressiveness is contagious. I am part of the problem at times admittedly. Just this morning this rdm was reviving the other dps who couldn't do mechanics before me, for me, and then healing that dps (vercure) instead of dps. He tells me, get this he tells me "Trust me. You need me.." I stopped healing altogether after that, I let the tank die 3 times on trash pulls, until the rdm finally says "fine" or something along those lines when I told him to dps.
Here's a screenshot of my log:
https://i.imgur.com/wIIy35h.png
The alliance one in orange was when I had around 20% of my health left and didn't realize I was in alliance chat at that moment. Party chat in blue was after I died.
Could what I said be considered mean? Yeah probably but if you ask me, if you come to do the job you signed up for, and end up not doing it? I'll call you on that buddy.
Good man. Keep at it! I do the same thing! You learn to embrace the kicks.
https://media1.tenor.com/images/466b...itemid=7198888
I'll admit I've been kicked for petty reasons such as letting DPS tank a trash pull after telling them that "No, I won't pull more cause we might wipe", or letting people die cause I got tired of rezzing their butts when they kept getting killed by simple mechanics. But so far, from my experience, today's kick felt like the pettiest to me.
I see nothing wrong with was said. It'd be one thing if they actually did or they tried and you said that but yo, if they're prioritising dps over healing, call them out.
I mean, it's just like how you go into an alliance roulette, adds pop and tanks don't grab them or those dps checks come and dps tunnel vision boss. You gotta call those people out.
Hi. I mentioned they pulled for me in my post.
I've had people do ridiculous things like use Elusive Jump to get ahead of me to pull mobs.
It's okay to get ahead of me. It's not okay to troll on this level and, like I said in my post, cause chaos.
So, please don't tell me to get over it. You don't know what's happening. This thread is for venting. I have as much of a right to vent as anyone else.
