I had a bit of a nightmare run yesterday. I was leveling as a DRG to get Blood for Blood and was doing a run of Tam Tara Deepcroft from the roulette. In the group was a non-level synced Marauder, an Arcanist and a Scholar. The Scholar was a massive problem as he refused to cast protect on anyone and in fact only cast his DoT spells the whole dungeon while pulling everything before the tank got anywhere near the mobs. When asked why he was doing this, his reply was "I'm Eos healing and speed pulling to make the run fast, it's a thing and it works" I have never heard of a Sch Eos Healing and doing all the pulls before, though we made it through the dungeon solely because I didn't feel like waiting for a new healer and kept saving him. I know it had to be me saving things cause at the end of the run, I received 3 player recommendations. Can someone please tell me that this idea of this healer's is not an actually practice used by normal people?

Healer horror story:
Once upon a time ( really the other day) there was a white mage who went into the duty finder and registered for a leveling roulette. The white mage was happy when it popped and found himself in stone vigil with a paladin and two dps. When they got to the first big room the healer (who was a lvl 60 and an ilvl of 180 ) told the tank to grab them all in that room. The tank proceeded to be a negative Nancy about it and pulled the mobs telling the mage it would be "their funeral". The two dps backed up the healer saying if the healer is telling the tank to pull more then for the tank to do it. Suffice it to say they were able to clear that room with no deaths so the white mage and dps started joking around and having fun. The tank was not amused so a little later the tank decided to pull more without the healer saying anything about it knowing the tank would have had the fit again. The tank was unable to keep the hate and caused the whole party to wipe and make it seem he was teaching the healer a lesson. Healer then vote kicked him and the party got a better tank and enjoyed the rest of the df. THE END -

I've been getting a lot of PLDs that like to stop after every pull and Stoneskin the whole party. If I'm on AST or SCH, I normally just keep it on the tank and the pull before a boss I'll put it on everyone. I have no idea if this makes me bad or not, but I'd rather spend that time DPSing...never had a problem before! I'm a patient person, but for some reason this just annoys me lol.
Also...not really a horror story, just something a little frustrating. I was in Dusk Vigil earlier for my leveling roulette. This tank also liked to spam Stoneskin! Well, we get to the second boss and I see that he's chasing the adds around. I've run DV a lot at this point, and I always see the tank ignore the adds and just let the DPS take care of them...Never had a problem with this strategy, its always incredibly easy to heal. So I tell the tank, "Hey, you don't need to pick up the adds :P" Adding in the smiley so I don't come off as a jerk lol. He says, "Yes I do". By the end of the fight the damage was pretty high, no wipes...but I wasn't able to dps at all. After the fight the tank asks what happens if the adds are near him, and I tell him that the boss will get a stacking damage buff. So he says something like, "Hmm, lets see...I can either ignore the adds and let them hit the party, or I can just grab them...Yea I'm gonna keep grabbing them and keep the damage on me" except much snarkier. The thing is, he couldn't keep aggro on them anyways. Also, this isn't the only fight where the tank ignores the adds. Well, I don't like arguing so all I said was, "Alrighty" and continued, picturing him frantically trying to grab the bees on the first boss in Sohm Al XD -

He also probably had Cleric Stance in his first slot instead of Protect, which is why he didn't use it. He could have cast Protect and then switched to Cleric Stance...but I think its unnecessary there.Quote:

My horror story from today is: I had the worst Cutter's Cry experience ever. The party was horrible? No, they were great. The DPS was low? No, everyone was cutting the mobs down like a hot knife in butter. What was the problem? ME.
IDK why, but I decided to run my leveling roulette after taking my medications and GOD I was awful. No one died or got close to it, but my reaction time was SO SLOW it was bothering even myself. Advice: do not queue after medications. Wait for the hard effects to pass on to queue. -

Putting this here on behalf of my static WHM, because she's too shy to forum.
You guys know the Vault, yeah? In particular, the final boss of the Vault, "sickness must be purged" and all that rot. Well, I have a story to tell about an inept Dark Knight (me), a tunnel-visioned Summoner, a "typically" disrespectful Ninja (the primary antagonist of our tale [yes I know a lot of Ninjas don't actually do this crap, I have a few on my friends list]) and a poor, put-upon healer who by the end of the run desperately needed a hug.
I, as a tank, struggle to remind myself about the charging knights in that fight, so I usually keep my camera angled facing the south end of the arena because of how I pull the boss. This meant I was eating knights more than I care to admit, making the WHM's job more difficult than I wanted to. On top of this, the SMN liked sitting as far away from the rest of the party as possible because apparently all caster DPS I get stuck with in DF have been told that you take less damage the farther away from the tank you are. And this Ninja sat in the center of the room DPSing the boss. Even when he got chained. Actually, especially when he got chained; I watched him move to dodge Heavensflame and knights with ease. Yes, that old chestnut; the SMN died at least once per each of our three attempts.
We push phase very easily, and I deal with the orbs in my usual fashion of taking out the northernmost one first because it spawns on top of where I usually sit, Plunging to the next and throwing Salted on the third while I work. The other DPS work opposite me like I'd hoped them to, so we clean out the orbs well enough every time. The problem comes when we hit the second leg of the fight; the NIN makes it his mission is life to always be on the opposite end of the arena from the healer, and the SMN is having to run around all the time because of Heavensflames and knights and being chained to the NIN constantly. So naturally everyone is very far away from each other and a WHM's AoE heals can't really do much to hit everyone, and because that fight is insane and both the WHM and I are still getting the hang of it, we wipe a couple of times. After the second failure the NIN (who I soon checked and saw that he had neither CNJ nor ARC levelled) starts to get smarmy with the healer, saying tripe such as "You shouldn't be using cure when people take damage" "You have AoE heals" "The best ones in the game in fact. Hint hint wink wink, it has a two in it". I stay silent because it's the internet and outputting righteous indignation oftentimes doesn't go well, and I convince the WHM of the same, so we just keep going. The first Altar Pyre comes out and everyone takes a chunk of damage but, again, no one is close enough to each other for a Medica II to be anything but a waste of MP. So she starts running around throwing out Cures where needed, and the NIN actually takes the time during the fight to say "wrong spell". We push phase, kill the orbs, and everyone's actually bunched up for once because I was faster at my work this time, so the WHM has a chance to throw out that lovely AoE healing regen goodness, and they snark out a "there ya go". We kill the boss that attempt, no thanks to the NIN, and before he leaves he tells my WHM to "youtube whm my god" and leave before I can chew him out.
I will now take this moment to inform you all that my WHM goes through great pains and spent weeks researching and practicing her job because she wants to be the best healer that she can possibly be. And she's very much the best one I have the honor of knowing and tanking for. That NIN, meanwhile, was one of the more inept DPS I've seen in my short time running HW content.

Once, before heavenward came out, I was trying to get the ifrit pony as sch in DF. Turns out, the other healer was a leech, he purposefully d/c'd himself at the start of battle, just as the tank pulled (you can't vote kick in battle). The party wiped the first time, the other healer came back at the end of battle, waited till the tank pulled again, then d/c'd again. I managed to successfully solo heal it this time (the dps were more careful this time also and loved my heals :) ), and the healer joined back right at the end (again) and grabs the horse. :| I was not amused. I saw him next in a titan ex DF group, I chewed him out after he was yelling at people to do their roles. something along the lines of "HAHA!!!! LIKE YOU DID WHEN YOU LEECHED THE IFRIT HORSE!!!!????" Since he managed to piss off everyone else, not just me, we managed to vote kick him out, and we defeated titan ex with the next healer that came along, sadly no horse dropped. :<
Not the first time I have had leeches, this one time, waaay back, I was in the LotA, and my healer partner was a healer that was famous for selling ex kills on our server. I thought "Oh cool, at least my partner is a decent healer" NOPE! He stood still at the start and didn't do sh*t the entire time, every time we vote kicked him, he just joined back in. Made me so mad. He also kept trying to bribe wolves den wins from our pvp linkshell. (our pvp linkshell doesn't win trade, we go head to head at full force for fun :P) -

I was levelling up my AST and decided to clear the last unfinished guildhest from my list for the bonus and for a change of pace. It was Ward Up. I'm pretty familiar with the role (and it's not a very difficult fight to heal) so I was looking forward to a quick, simple experience bonus before moving on to something more challenging.
I should note that I play on a Japanese world which has various advantages and disadvantages. One of the advantages is that people tend to be reasonably respectful in DF and the cringeworthy confrontations that I've seen described in other posts in this thread are extremely rare. Even if you do something outrageously stupid (and I've been guilty of this a few times...) people will generally keep their thoughts to themselves and try to salvage the situation as best as they can. In other words, I've become accustomed to getting great parties in DF and having a bad experience that wasn't caused by myself is extremely rare.
The principle of the Ward Up guildhest, for those who might not know or remember, is that your party has to bring five monsters close to death then kill them all in quick succession or they respawn at full health. I think you can see where this story is going.
We started off well enough; the Dark Knight was tanking effortlessly and I was able to join in and deal some damage. The MNK advised us that he was a relatively new player and hadn't tried this hest before, but he was doing ok. Suddenly, we noticed one of the monsters had died and was about to respawn at full health. "You mustn't kill them," advised the tank politely, "We have to kill them all at the same time."
This happened a few times, and the DRK's tone of voice gradually became more and more strained as he explained the mechanics in detail and gave tips on avoiding DoT abilities and other possible mistakes. I don't usually pay a huge amount of attention to killing blows but I started watching the DPS a little more closely and noticed that it was the DRG who kept deliberately running to the enemies we had burned down and poking them until they died. I checked the party list; his client language was set to Japanese. I joined in with the tank and begged this guy to take notice of our instructions, even switching to English in case he wasn't a native speaker and was genuinely confused.
He ignored everything we said. We tried emotes, sound effects, shouting, begging; the guy wouldn't say a single word in response or stop killing the demons. The maddening thing was that his damage was high enough that he could successfully hold the entire party to ransom in this maddening deadlock for the entire duration of the hest, and because he was only poking the enemies which were already close to death it was surprisingly difficult to let him die (believe me, I tried) - even though he would only have respawned and run back in within seconds. I couldn't kick him because I was stuck in combat. I couldn't even dish out enough DPS of my own to help counter what he was doing.
The tank wondered whether he was a bot. His playstyle seemed far too accurate for that, yet I have no idea whatsoever what he was trying to achieve by making the hest unwinnable until the timer ran out. After 25 minutes of emotional torture the tank apologised and left, probably to go and get some strong alcohol. I persuaded the newbie MNK that we should do the same.
In the end I was too traumatised to go back into DF for the rest of the day and spent 45 minutes writing an extremely passionate report for the customer services team instead begging them to do something about that awful, awful DRG. -

Next time you see something like this (someone intentionally wiping you by doing mechanics incorrectly), you should give them one warning to stop, then jot their name down to report them, and boot them. After the duty, you can file a report. Enough reports will very likely end up with the person getting banned.Quote:

I had a healing horror story last night that actually resulted in my first vote abandon of a four-man dungeon in a longgggg time.
Queue'd up for the Vault to level my AST, and we made it to through the trash okay, no problem. First boss took a while but damage in that fight is minimal, so we were fine. I started noticing problems at the second boss. The DPS was so slow in the fight that we had so many aetherial tears up that there were no longer ANY safe spaces put your back to. Many of the tears were overlapping other tears. There was just a big black circle around the outside of the arena. The fight was dragging on way too long, and any time the knockback move happened, players would immediately go sailing into multiple tears and come very close to death. Both tank and one DPS had five stacks of vulnerability towards the end. I was completely out of mana despite using Aether and an x-ether, AND desperately trying to draw Ewer cards. But we held it together and made it through, some how. I was already thinking "Oh god, what is the last boss going to be like..."
Got to the last boss, and sure enough, we have problems immediately because one of the DPS makes no effort to break the chain, so I'm trying to heal massive damage right from the start of the fight and playing catch up from that point on. We make to the fire orbs. DPS is slow, the tank decides to switch into sword oath, and that's really understandable because I am not DPSing that much because I am trying hard to conserve mp because I know I'm gonna need it. We clear orbs, and first big problem: tank doesn't switch back to shield oath. So he starts taking a lot more damage at the same time that the mechanics get more complicated and the DPS who wasn't dodging before... dodges even less now and dies after eating fire and chess pieces and probably also chain to the face. I swiftcast raise that DPS but that and the intense heals needed on the tank drains the mana away so quickly, and I'm ending up taking damage myself trying frantically to heal the others... Eventually, the damage just becomes too much from lack of dodging and the fight dragging on and I go out of mana again. We wipe.
Then this same exact thing proceeds to happen two more times. Complete with the whole shield oath/sword oath business and the non-dodging DPS. I felt terrible, thinking maybe I just wasn't healing as well as I should be and that it was somehow me causing the problems... But that was my sixth time doing that dungeon that day and my first time ever wiping on that boss, so... There are just limits on what I can heal through, and that group well exceeded the limits. D; -

Me: The big fat one we were just fighting.

I went into Aurum Vale to level AST the other day. The tank was a little impatient and ran way ahead of the party in the first room, moving around a corner so that he broke my LoS and I couldn't heal him. As he was already near death, I stopped a little short to pull off a single heal and aggro'd two additional enemies.
Insert wipe here. Comment from tank: "You okay, AST?"
Yes, I'm okay. Just getting used to AST's lower potency is all. No biggie. It was probably my fault, there was more that I could have done on my part, right? The tank gives me some advice, which I immediately put to use. Admittedly, I'm still learning the class.
Insert aggro problems here. Insert wipe here.
After some struggle, we make it to the first boss. One DPS runs to the other side of the room, near the exit, far outside of healing range. My remaining fruit is too far away. I move in a little too close to save him and die. We wipe.
Rather than try to blame a DPS for the wipe, I ask a question: "Can we switch fruit so that everyone's within healing range and I can more easily access fruit? Mine was gone."
Comment from tank is berating and tells me to just "stand in the back" and don't get hit, and that there is fruit back there, even though I clearly said my fruit was gone.
We switch fruit. We clear the boss. Insert sarcastic remark about my want to switch fruit locations for healing range.
We continue on through the dungeon with some aggro complications.
We proceed to the next boss. A DPS is killed by Coincounter. In my attempt to resurrect them, I am also killed. Insert tank's remark about "already accepting his death" before our second attempt.
We defeat the final boss without a word said.
My thoughts: Aurum Vale is always a hard dungeon when you're going through it with a new class, especially since your gear will likely be a little underleveled. In my experience, it is the first dungeon in which every party member has to consider their other party members or else mechanical issues will cause consistent wipes. A little mistake here or there is easily fixed when there are no bad attitudes or berating of party members. -

My most recent story involves library of Gubal and tank still mostly wearing ilvl130 gear. Start off it was only my second run in this dungeon and I am still messing up here and there on the first boss. My first two deaths were my fault, getting too the point though, Tank starts chain pulling after the first boss. While tanking the pack he pulled my healing pulls a patrol he does not notice AT ALL. So I spend the next oh minute or so spam healing myself and him before he finally grabs it. After the trash is down and we are moving on he asks "Nana what happen to your mana?" I was I like really you didn't notice the pack that was kicking my ass? Next series of wipes come at the final boss. First wipe is caused when I die too a orb that is too close to a pad right as heal goes off on myself.

Next I misplace a orb too close too a pad as I didnt notice the mark above me my head, on the next try pads come up I ran too the first pad I see tank standing next too it. I step on the pad and wait for him to press it as well, but he does not move and just stands there. Adds spawn and we end up dying, tank screams in chat why didn't I run too their pad when I was standing right next too him. Next thing I know I am vote kicked out of the dungeon, no loss on my end got most of the exp I needed out of it. Still said tank had tunnel vision and was trying to speed run a dungeon that he was not geared enough to speed run. He even went off at one point saying the dungeon should have been completed 20 minutes ago this was after I think the second wipe on the final boss. *face palm*
I am not the best player in the world but going into a dungeon and complaining about others mistakes when your lesser geared then everyone all while tunnel visioning and trying to speed run. Does not make you better then the player who is making a couple of mistakes.. -

i'd have to go with a sastasha run. marauder tanks usually scare me at the low levs, but this 1 was definitely the worst i'd seen in awhile. first mob, just those 2 little bats, and i'm getting agro after my first heal. i figure i just started healing too soon, and try holding off, even letting my hp drop rather low to give him time to take agro back. by the time we reached the first jellyfish, i was worried and started watching him. he was only using his basic attack and buffs. that was it. i told him to try using his enmity skills, but he claimed that HE DIDN'T HAVE THEM YET! i was like, dude, i know you should have atleast 2 by now so use them. he didn't. i just said screw it, if i'm taking agro anyway, then i'll just heal tank this stuff, and started every fight with a medica spam and then focused on my own hp. for the entire dungeon... i really wish we had a little more room to work with in our roles/classes. a few more skills that we can use for other classes (like esuna and medica), and let people choose if they're gonna be a tank, healer, or dps instead of pigeon-holing us with these useless people that can't get anything right. a person that's bad at their job is one thing, but not even knowing what your class is capable of... that shouldn't happen. ever.

So I was tanking Qarn on DKN for the 1st time (Can tank on Warrior and Paladin just now learning DKN though) and the Scholar proceeds to pull bees so I gather up the mobs and then he just doesn't heal me at all. I had a cool down running with Blood bath in Darkside and I still died. OMG I could not believe it. Then the monk tells the healer to pay attention jokingly and they say, "Well you are suppose to kill the bees first it is not my fault". The monk then told him that, "but the tank did not get one heal???" We all had a good laugh and then proceeded to roll the rest of the dungeon no problem but just a funny story...not a horror story but funny.

I was doing my expert, and played with an FC mate (bard)
the tank a drk was a bit undergear but handle the tanking really well (Selene was able to heal him without problem, I only had to put a physic from time to time)
The thing is that everytime I cast stoneskin and/or adlo to shield him before a pull... he jump or body pull a pack
and I end up getting aggro
during the whole instance he was safe, the DPs were safe, no one died...
One moment I ran to get a chest and didn't saw that the tank did an half pull, so I end up with aggro (I'm a fat ass SCH...)
I did understand that the tank didn't want to help me... (but bitch please, I'm a SCH, I can tank as much as him XD)

and I answer him with the same tone saying that Tank should wait for buff if they don't want to lose aggro while I cast.

I was shocked, frustrated... then laugh for 20 min when my FC mate tell me that they got an other heal that was worse and made them wipe 3 time on the final boss XD

People (read, tanks) used to quickrun from the very start a few months ago, now that they can cast their own protect, they do it even more , I often see them SPRINT, cast protect on themselves ONLY, and immediatly agro things without leaving us, healers, any time to cast on every player.
As a consequence : I don't bother either. Whoever walks too much in aoe will die. Get blamed when that happens ? I don't mind, they may as well kick me out if they can't just wait 3 seconds for shields to be up. It's not like we have a long queue time anyway. And they're likely to wait for another healer longer than the time I spend in requeue myself. -

I should have caught this when we fell down the cliffs in the Aery. Was rolling my PLD in Aery, during Niahogg the SMN noticed the AST (in Noct stance, ok...) wasn't using Helios at all and calls him out to use it to AoE heal. Still was using Benefic II as much as possible. So the adds come, go to Sword Oath as usual to help DPS down the adds. Seeing everyone's health 20% or below the whole time, I'm sure they were focusing on Edstein, which is fine. These adds don't hurt much anyway. Ok in the bubble, no heals going out? Oh now here they come right when I'm going to pickup Niahogg at 15% HP in Shield now, hallowed ground maybe will get their attention? I have a macro. Ok we are all dead.
Next pull, he somehow stands in the fire balls and dies. Why he likes to get up front with me is a question I didn't even want to ask.
I was just too annoyed to give any more advice than what the SMN did, four pulls it took and it wasn't even the DPS that was the issue. Only a MNK left, and we got an instant NIN that did way higher DPS than him but they still once again only used Benefic I/II but this time they were more on-time during the adds. Sure that probably helped the AST out a bit in the damage department in pushing the boss further, it still was manageable though.
Yeah, many probably didn't know about being full HP for them bees. I've gotten so used to slow DPS on them in pug roulettes that I just pop a cooldown (Shadowskin) when I see Final Sting casting to live. Next time if I ever get that dungeon I'm just going to take off grit, use blood sword on those because it happens almost everytime even if you mark, say kill the bees first, etc. Don't worry I'll use a CD like bloodbath xD.Quote:

On an AV run as a healer, first boss. Tank is holding boss in the usual position, I'm stood by my typical fruit point (one closest to the entrance - offers the best range.) The close-range DPS takes the tank's fruit, which causes the tank to have a "hurdurrr" moment and decide that instead of briefly running a bit further to the right, grabbing some other fruit then moving back into position, the best idea is to run over to me, dragging the monster right over to the vulnerable black mage and healer, and take my fruit - the fruit of the only person keeping this derp alive - as I hit three stacks. I have to go across to the left immediately for another fruit because I'm seconds away from dying, while the DPS (also on low HP) panics and flail right across the room out of healing range to get away from the monster, just as the tank decides to take several big hits and drops to 25%. I managed to pull us out of it without anyone dying, but it was sheer luck me and the DPS weren't wiped during the initial mess up. I was <100 at one point.
Lesson of the day: DON'T TAKE YOUR HEALER'S FRUIT YOU GODDAMN CRETIN -

Ran through my first Dusk Vigil earlier, as a healer. My tank...was level 51...with a i55 weapon.

My DRG friend was the one tanking for the most part. At one point, the tank got disconnected and a replacement from my FC joined us. I don't know why our tank just didn't buy a DRK sword in Foundation... -

HAHA, how do you get to lvl 51 with an I55 weapon, crazy.
My worst one was just a party where the other 3 members were first timers in Bukakke manor in Roulette. I was around lvl 58 and had 150 more HP than the tank and as soon as i used cure i got aggro. The worst part is that i play on a JP server and the other three were JP players, so i couldn't even tell them where to go, i ended up just quitting because i couldn't be bothered tanking with a WHM. -

Eos can handle it... in fact in Sastasha unless something goes really wrong I do just heal through Eos. Pop a manual Embrace once in a while... maybe even Whispering Dawn if I'm feeling especially lazy. If I didn't DPS in those dungeons I would literally fall asleep (it's happened before).Quote:

I also have cleric stance first, low level dungeons do not require protect, and cleric stance lets me use mana for something productive.
I'm also of the opinion that its fine for non-tanks to pull, as long as they're prepared to solo whatever they agro.
It is fairly efficient for a dot class to pull, as spamming ruin makes baby eos cry, but it doesn't sound that that was being done efficiently at all. -

This Week me and my friends Cleared t13 for a new guy of our fc, I got the DRK Sword,.the DRK from my Static said "Go up a DRK, or i will get mad at you for getting that sword".

I was doing Qarn Normal, and my gear was a mix of Brailfox Gear, GC gear and lvl 20 Tier Acessories and i Thinked gonna do small pulls, on the first bee pulled two Bees and tree other mobs, Two Unleashed anda aggro combo in one of the bee.
>Healers get aggro of the other bee.
I got to panicked and provoked the wrong add, I panic so much when playing as tank have to run e try get the aggro back using the usual aggro combo.
Aside from that the boss was "easy". Nothing Wrong.
Every pack of mobs was hiting me so hard, and I died, the swiftressed me but i didn't the aggro back before he die, them he said "I'm not so bad, i'm whit lag". I apologized adn said I was new on tanking, I play as AST.
Second boss, I died on the gollem because i was trying to dodge the AoEs and not moving the boss, one of the dps is a DRG and i think moving the boss will not be good., but i was hited two times, again i
I provoked the Soulstone but the Gollem Stay following the healer and killed him, we are lucky the soul stone died the melee LB finished the gollem whitout problem.
And I sucked a lot on handling adds and and dont being hit by AoE, I feel like dying a lot of time and my trying poping my cds to help, I think the Healer was cursing me on the others side, and I died again on the mobs, whit small pulls.
one time only, we got to the last boss after that and no problems.
Give him a commend, and promised myself, don't ever try tanking again if you don't have the gear for that DG. -
08-25-2015, 06:15 PMSelliI 100% support Cleric > Protect on a SCH. Eos/Selene can solo heal up until Haukke fairly easily. By having Cleric in the first slot you're only missing Protect for the first 2-3 dungeons (which are all under level 25). Extra DPS helps the dungeon go faster, especially since the SCH literally doesn't have to lift a finger to heal... at all, even without Protect.Quote:

So the AST will probably be spending a fairly even amount of time healing and DPSing (if one even chooses to DPS, some healers don't at all). Well most of my healing horror stories are all about me trying to heal Titan as an AST. For some reason I can't heal that fight, I seem to eat every landslide even if I move the moment I see the lines. The only horror story caused by others was an ifrit normal where I couldn't convince anyone to hit the nail and being blamed for the wipes.
