That's fair, I can understand that! I'm interested to see Hrothgar as well. I just don't want them to come at the expense of male Viera. The problem is that in a situation like this, people are bound to reactive negatively to Hrothgar regardless of how great there are just because we're basically being told "you're not getting what you want, you're getting this instead" and that is going to color perspectives no matter how SE spins it. Really, the whole thing is doing a disservice to both races. You're going to get people who hate Hrothgar out of the gate as a result, it's unavoidable.

I can't speak for others but there theres no real swaying me on this topic. You're conflating two points. The point of the petition would be a cohesive statement that's simple to understand and plain to see how many people are for your point. This thread being an echo chamber was because you said in paraphrase "lol well more people are responding positively than negatively" which... of course they are. People who either want something other than male Viera or are neutral probably aren't seeking out a thread to post complaints. People who are seeking such thread, are doing so to find a group of like minded people. That's the echo chamber. A petition can't be an echo chamber because in theory, if people didn't argue back and forth, it would just be a bunch of signed statements of desire. One post per person, no need to go any deeper than that to make your point.

And really, I'm not trying to sway you or anyone. I don't care if you're for or against genderlocking. My points have been, for the most part, responses to people either saying things that were in my mind illogical, or to people saying outlandish things, like being entitled to what they want. I've never said "you should stop wanting male Viera that's stupid". Or, "genderlocking is good for the community, you should change your mind!" I agree that if everyone got everything they wanted it would be amazing and we could all go home happy. I'm saying that based on what we know, it's looking like it's not going to happen, and since you will probably have to keep voicing your dissatisfaction, probably do it without using the word "entitled". (Not you, the other guy redcurrant).

The issue I'm trying to get across is that on these forums all petitions inevitably become this thread: Someone wanted more male glamours to counter balance the female exclusives. People decided to make it an argument. Someone wanted more class based items to be unlocked or to have unlocked variants. People decided to make it an argument. The infamous bunny outfit? Arguments. I can see that. It's probably naive to think a thread could stay on point and civil. I guess there's no point in trying to call people out on being extreme because it's just a thing that happens in online forums. I just hope they have some way to measure how impactful decisions like this would really be, rather than just seeing a page number on a forum.

Red, you're not helping the cause so just drop the Roe thing. They can turn your argument around and say that elezen with bunny ears are Viera. Plus it's safe so say that hrothgar are a thing.

But they do look like that race from Bless with only minor differences. The fact is no one can deny that there would be no way to make male Viera in the game if they are not officially released without using mods. The bara crowd has its needs met with Roegadyn but mine are not.

Honestly, I doubt they'll be 'bara' - more like muscular but not to the standards that is Roegadyn as that's basically the only thing Roe has going for it, tall and insanely chunky. No, I think if anything we'll be seeing something that is more like Buff Daddy Byakko. For some reason, people keep getting Bara confused with anything that is even beyond 'slightly toned'.

Personally, I’d rather have one big thread for the devs to flip through rather than multiple threads scattered across the forums. While there are extremes, exaggerations, and tangents argued for and against, there are also many civil posts quietly posted and upvoted as well. One big thread isn't likely going to be what makes or breaks any issue really, but its a fairly easy to navigate info dump and keeps the forums slightly more tidy. For even more feedback they have reddit, twitter, the other languages’ forums, event Q&As, in-game discussions (at least in JP), gaming news posts, etc.

Er, no. I don't like how Roegadyn look. I like beefy men who are classically handsome but not bizarrely proportioned. Highlander men are the sweet spot in terms of physique for me but their lack of eyebrows and the fact that they suffer from a dire case of 'same face' puts me off of them. The amount of likes that a post gets around these parts is largely irrelevant. Only a small portion of the overall community even bothers to post here in the first place. It is also very easy for particular posts to be brigaded by echo chambers.

So everybody else has to resort to using workarounds to get what they want, but you need to be catered to specifically or else you'll take your leave of the game? I'm in the camp where I'd sooner see both Viera and Hrothgar added with no gender lock at all to better appease every player. To be the devil's advocate; the male Highlander argument doesn't really work due to the face paint. The face paint doesn't give you decent eyebrows at all and then you're out of an option to have more 'fashionable' face paint.

I honestly wish they would just update the character creator and let all races have a muscle scale. Muscle scale, not 'toned' scale.

I will agree that realistic bunny ears are hard to come by, but they're not supposed to be realistic. But we can't look past the fact that Viera is and always will be a sub-human race and some adjustments can serve to 'look' like one. I managed to make myself look somewhat like a male Viera with the bunny ears, long hair, long nails and the magic dps boots from swallows compass (for the heel) - or whatever it's called. It can be done, but it doesn't scratch that itch. So I can see where you're coming from, but still, both ways...

I think we should step back from the whole, 'well this can be this but I can't make this' argument, as it doesn't add anything and can be turned on its head for both sides.

Honestly, if they make ripped male Viera that could be a good reason to race change for me too. I'm on the pro-Hrothgar side just in hopes of something I'd be interested in, since people seem to assume male Viera will be super feminine.

If Tsukuyomi is any guide, probably Omega M or Byakko are teasers of more or else what Male Viera's body types will be. Both look really great but ideally I'd like it if they looked more like the old concept art we all know and love.

I shouldn't have to mess with mods on a multiplayer game let alone one that costs this much. This isn't a single player sandbox like Skyrim or FFXV and from what I understand mods don't even work across all platforms so why should I even bother? Release male Viera or I'm going to go play a different game. Simple as that.

Most people here want male viera and that is what this whole thing is really about. NOT GENDER LOCKING RACES again!

I want something between Au Ra and Highlander: buff, but with a slightly slimmer waist. Preferably with ear choices and length sliders cause I hate how horns are locked both to face and a fixed size :(

I suspect it is up to the original poster to decide what the thread was meant to be about, not those hijacking it so they can try and force their own ideas onto everybody else. I'm not at all surprised that there is excessive tone policing at play, though. It's a very common tactic these days!

Look at my post history, I've explained what I'm posting to. Did you post that you want male Viera and stop? No? Thought so. I mean, to be frank - someone wanting Hrothgar is obviously going to be in the same boat. I can understand the want for Hrothgar, but I'd be extremely saddened by what they would represent.

Best of both worlds, as people have stated before would be to have both races without a gender-lock slapped on them. The sad fact is that someone who wants male Hrothgar is saddled into the corner where they're viewed as wanting a genderlock - because there are only two ways it can go. Hrothgar is the male option and is genderlocked or no genderlocks. It shouldn't mean that those of us should who want male Viera should start screeching because someone else wants Hrothgar - blame SE for this, not them. Or, wait for the live letter and we can see if we really need to start writing our desires for genderlocks to be lifted.

People are allowed to like what they want. I only wrinkle my -hopefully male bunny- nose when someone comes into the thread and just goes 'hurr hurr, I hope they're gender locked because f you guys.'

Think you need to chill, someone wanting Hrothgar could easily be someone who doesn't want genderlocks. If they're locked then those who want female Hrothgar are also screwed.

This is a thread discussing gender locked races, Hrothgar is sadly viewed as one of them due to the leaks - I don't see why it shouldn't be discussed here. I think those wanting Hrothgar should also have the right to complain due to genderlocks. No female? Created just because someone didn't want male viera - my thoughts would be the race would be 'half-arsed' if it's just 'male filler'
