The game has been doing fine with the jobs we have now. Its funny some posters think that putting a requirement behind new advanced jobs will somehow kill the game.
Add that to the list of things that will kill the game I guess.

How so? IF I had bought World of Warcraft with all the expansion on the day Mist was released I could have played a monk from the get go. When Anarachy Online released the new classes with the shadowland expansion the new classes were open to anyone that had the expansion.
And can cite games like: Starwars Galaxies, The repopulation, Ultima Online, The Secret World, and Eve Online as games that are not class locked.
Do not get me wrong the statement "The Devs have decided that they wanted to do this, and understand that new players might be turned off and not come play." is okay with me. They have their internal set of metrics and goals that we do not have access too
Vet. players arguing about how a fictional demographic of new players feel about potentially not having access to advanced Jobs immediately.
Why?
Again - people buy games to play them.
The iLv argument will probably be moot as theres no way it will be left like that. There will be a smooth progression in the main story quest, you can count on that.
Beyond that, this really isn't that much different to any other young MMORPG at an expansion launch. New players will all have to do the previous leveling content. The WoW paid level-cap service is an exception because it is already a very old game. But FFXIV:ARR is really new. This is only the first ever expansion.
Doing the main story quests itself will be leveling up and will most likely dish out whatever gear is required.
I see a lot of people complain that new players will be stuck at level 50 trying to raise their iLv to 90 to finish the main story quest trials. I don't think it'll be a problem. It'll obviously get adjusted.
I work for a Fortune 500 company as well (I'm contracted by a wholly owned subsidiary of one). I'm sure close to 10% of the US work force works directly for one of those companies, and more than that indirectly. It has no bearing on business sense.
I'd trust a farmer over a sandwich artist with business advice, because the farmer has more experience in the business world than the Fortune 500 employee.
