Yesterday evening had the weirdest healer in the MSQ roulette in Castrum. On first boss they marked the boss with the mark and kept shouting in the chat to FOCUS 1 FOCUS 1 when tank and other dps were using aoes to clear the ads too. And after it was done, the tank told them to chill and relax a bit and they jsut.... Went off in french. On a giant tangent long enough that party ran to first after-boss mob pack and tank died because they were busy typing. And at that, they (healer in lvl50 dungeon) had the gall to say that tank has braindead gameplay and that their job is more complex and intellectual. They ended up intentionally not healing on second boss and kicked for harassment, but man... Some people really tryharding that Black Eft fight like its an Ultimate...

Is that the boss that summons more adds no matter what you do? If so that healer's pretty low on the IQ scale to be screaming that.

It's like the first boss in Pharos Sirius. You think you can burn it down quickly enough, but the adds still overwhelm you. At least they die quickly enough.

Yet another PLD tank who was just... weird. Holminster Switch, with a litter of sprouts. It was a Party in Progress join for me (time elapsed showed as just 1m): PLD, SGE and two NINs (me one of them). The tank was pulling tiny - you know those packs at the first stretch where the enemies are split into 2/3/2? Well, they didn't even pull together the 2 and 3 groups, as a single-puller would. They just took them one by one. Eh, complaining about single-pullers is redundant at this point. They're everywhere. They were "vocal" in chat: complimenting the healer for good healing and good DPS here and there in broken English. They ate 6 Vulnerability Ups during the first boss, and managed to not die. I was personally too focused on my rotations to track their buffs, but for a fleeting moment I did see their Requiescat stacks go from 4 to none in one GCD. Now that's definitely a mistake...

And then came the second boss... I have an irrational hate for tanks who don't pull Tesleen out of the ice she drops after the stack marker. They just stand there, inflicting frustration on not just the healer but also the melees who'd rather do the mechanic than greed and make the healer more miserable. Second time around I tried to be a little heartless and stayed in the ice with Bloodthirst up, and the healer piped up to not stay in the ice at that. I was a tiny bit miffed because they spoke up only when I went in, but they're not wrong after all - and I'd probably interpreted their intention incorrectly. Either way, we down that as well.

Everything was normal after that, until we reached the third boss where the healer spoke again.

I looked up the person after the dungeon on Lodestone's character search. The PLD was apparently level 89 on that same Job (a couple others at most on 60) and on one of the new EU servers. Since they were a sprout... they'd definitely at least boosted one Job (can't speak for story skip). Oh well.

Finally, FINALLY, I was that one mentor. Where? In Gubal, normal. First boss. For some reason my character refused to turn around so I died to the damn book TWICE. Rest went smoothly but I am sorry to my party ;;

To the WAR I just had in Dun Scaith:

Have you tried using Holmgang my good sir? Instead of getting upset with us healers, you do have that wonderful invuln at your disposal. I beg of you to use it to save your life.

My ED/AST regens/Benefic 2s only do so much at 60. I did the best I can for you but you immediately went splat at the start of Hollow's entry.

I remembered this particular Dun Scaith run from last week where it was all smooth sailing until last boss at 2nd phase where there was one random MNK who thought they had a galaxy brain plan... to tell the entire alliance to 'hold back dps until shield falls off.' It was later revealed that homie never knew the shield also guarantees a critical hit from whatever Diabolos throwing, including autos and tankbusters. Surely enough when all 3 tanks fell real fast things get super chaotic to the point of wiping. That was one funny spectacle.

Wait. Wait wait wait. You mean, Diabolos uses a destructible shield and not a timed one?

The shield he uses at the beginning of the Hollow phase works like the old Stoneskin spell. It absorbs a certain amount of damage, so the only way to break it is to just keep hitting him.

At the end, when he casts Double Edge, all hits by and against him are automatic critical hits, turning it into a DPS race to drop him before he eats the tanks and starts murdering everyone.

Uh...I wasn't a monk at the time but I've said that myself before. I had no idea it was a shield you had to break. Seems I wasn't the only one who thought this. At least now if I make a call out about it I'll be correct for once. Thanks for the tip.

There really isn't anything I can do to counteract all those crits/tankbusters if tanks don't mitigate.

The other day I got Sohm Al Hard and got a mnk the wasn't aoeing at all. So after the 1st boss I ask hey mnk you going to aoe on the trash? Which for some reason the tank replies always. I reply with but they're not. No other talk after this. I then also do my best to single target. However that is a bit difficult on smn unless you just ruin spam. I did end up doing so with festers. The only reason I knew they weren't aoeing is because I'd not only see them go for positionals and snap punch's animation being shown. I then thought well maybe the tank n the mnk are friends. Unless they were cross server friends they weren't. It was odd as the only time I've had someone pipe up to defend someone else for their poor play in the way the tank did is if they're friends or FC mates. I play with show limited on for others and there are some animations that have enough of a distinct look to them that when you see them you know what they are. And yes that was the only problem. Except for myself being the only one who knew or remembered how to do the dungeon. Thankfully I got targeted for the lava pool drops on the final boss every time.

You mean every time I get battle on the big bridge and battle in the big keep where dps has to slow down cause people ignore my telling them how to not get everyone turned into chickens or minied or frogs?

Been farming the tomes for the event, and I must say I miss the older version at least the bosses melted. As a healer it pains me how long bosses take to die at times when your two dps are Meh.

Only need four more runs.

I'm guessing returning from Dungeon Finder duties directly into the island could also cause rare animal spawns to not spawn. Even leaving the island and coming back didn't fix it. Had to wait another full Eorzea day...

I too was on the moogletome hype train for a good two days over the holidays. It was also a good excuse to farm a few glam sets...

and the class of choice? Scholar! Primarily because my SMN cheated it to endgame. :P
Don't get me wrong. Scholar is fun and I prefer it over Sage because when I was working on Sage I felt as if I was clipping my aoe shields sometimes because I have to press an extra button first before I can get the shields out.

I gotta say, the amount of people who either don't esuna or don't esuna fast enough is SHOCKING.

but I suppose it's a good thing that I end up being the one that esunas while the co healer heals. So it works both ways.

I manually queued for a lot of Dun Scaith and a LOT of wiping city. Queue inevitable hilarity and hijinxs below:

1. It then came to light that I never remembered or even knew that around the time AFTER ozma shallows you and you pass that phase, there are blue orbs that are slowly moving around the platform and their aoe damage is INSANE.

one time I was pressured to use Fey illumination during one of those moments. One match had a Dragoon on my alliance not paying attention to meteor markers and dropped a meteor right on top us. TWICE. Thank the faes for Adloquium + Deployment Tactics. (because Adloquium's shield is better than Succor's. Better to duplicate that shield for something super serious instead.)

I usually don't use healing potency buffs because I don't see what the incentive is to use those when most heals and most shields usually get the job done well enough on their own.

2. The only other thing I saw that really ruins these runs is when after Calo's recharge phase...at some point after she casted penetration she ends up getting tanked with one half facing the WHOLE ARENA and then everyone will get cleaved. It's like the tanks forget she needs to be tanked north the whole time and then she ends up getting tanked sideways. At that point it's a coin toss if she completely misses everyone or cleaves everyone.

In Dun Scaith:

most of these runs are without incident.

Controlling the big black balls that fall down during Diabolos Hollow usually wouldn't be what does us in. It would always be those slow-moving gravity wells that send us all flying around in multiple knockbacks. Sometimes I notice they're there sometimes I'll randomly look behind me...

and then it's too late and we all go for a wild ride. We laugh it up, of course.

One run the tanks...well you know how it is. Diabolos has trouble determining who is main tank and since he repeatedly cleaves from multiple angles.

All and all, it was good training and I did manage to prevent and stop numerous catastrophes and bad plays.

can't wait to see what the Level 70 kit does but I'm gonna wait for the event to end. i've had my fill of Alliance Raids already. ;)

The wiping city healer set made me look like Elvis.

The Dun Scaith set gave off Tim Burton vibes.

Before Sohm Al changes, i had a healer that was willing to report me for "trolling" in the 2nd boss fight... the one where the markers were all screwed up with red = stack and blu = away from marker.
Like i legit looked at him and forced him to notice the damage difference in stacking vs not (which basically if you only stacked with 2 people, you'd lose half health, not having any stacks you'd remain a quarter of health if you were not a tank and 3 or 4 you would take it well).

At same time i can't blame, even with EW, some markers and buffs can be confusing. The only tip you get for Hollow Diabolos' shield is pretty much being told by Caith Sith to keep hitting

Heroes' Gauntlet's final boss springs to my mind. That's definitely a boss that needs updated markers, even though it's a lvl 80 dungeon. Although it could've been more of an oversight.

It uses the stackup marker for two different attacks. When the rubble falls from the sky that sequence of jumps he does uses stackup markers too and people get confused by this. They need to be changed to circle markers because when the boss jumps, it's an aoe for every person on the team so if we stack up everyone takes 4 aoes, instead of everyone taking one aoe, if we were out of aoe range for every one of his jump attacks.

Has anyone had problems with the duo only stack in the Aether-(can't remember rest of the name) dungeon towards the end of HW? Should be during the second boss.

Aetherical Research Facility. And almost everyone has problems on that boss because so many people haven't done T8. It's two simple mechanics but either people don't listen and so they don't learn or they don't care and can end up killing half the party. 1st mechanic that locks a person in place just needs one other person to join the target. Then the other one is the follow up the tree boss from 8 does right after that also just needs one person to join the target.

The one please don't run from me I hate is when the black and white rings happen during Sophia or in the dungeon that ends with the Atma Weapon from FF VI. The one where if during Sophia one set will give a nasty paralyze and the other will give a magick defense down. Which surprise is most of her attacks.

Was in lab on our way to the demons right before behemoth. Talking to the tank in our group about the previous boss. Well hit a key combination on my kb that screwed up my wasd. Could not move my character or type properly in chat to let my party know..so left the raid without a word to fix my kb.

Today I learned that Gaius' dps check goes through Cover.

Got four comms in Aglaia for queuing as a tank and not fighting for aggro.

Weirdly enough, I never noticed that mechanic until a recent run where the other three people got sniped by it. Either we were always skipping it or everyone just knew what to do (it's never targeted me).

The kicker is Sophia and Zurvan's color debuffs are opposites while Sephirot's had to be matched, but at least Sophia's dialogue hints at what to do. Which raises another question: why did Sephirot get snubbed in the voice department?

there was that conjurer. i didnt really think much of it because overlevelling is a thing and that dungeon isnt locked behind story.
but after he complained about how little he heals i saw that he only used the small cure to heal. before i could say anything the other party members already wrote about him not being a whitemage. his answer?
he didnt bother with classquests since he just wanted to have fast qeues -.-

I think the stack marker makes sense in this case because all players are marked with their own icon at the same time, rather than just one player that you all gather to as normal. It indicates that there are four individual attacks going out, rather than just one big one that you can absorb/divide amongst the party. Obviously four people taking four attacks is not any better than four people taking one attack each, so you need to stack with something else besides your friends.

A circle marker gives no information other than an attack is imminent. It doesn't hint at anything about stacking. I could even see a newbie thinking you have to move away from the rubble piles, because maybe you have to use them for something later and you don't want to destroy them.

Joined Stone Vigil as a healer.
The moment I join, I see a DPS dead, another DPS standing to the side, a tank that just respawned.
Asked what happened.
*Tank continues to run up to first wave and gets himself killed*
DPS replies "Don't start until tank turns on his stance"

I noped out of there so fast.

levelling roulette as a tank on an alt. i've got stone vigil.
i was like: 'oh no'
because it was the highest possible dungeon and my gear pretty bad... but since the dps burnt through the enemies i still was able to pull a decent amount at once.

in runs like that i really wish to be able to give more than one mvp.

kinda strange how dps can influence thrashpulls that much but people always think about how great healers are now matter how good they actually are

I have been blessed with a new title!

Queued up as a DPS for a trial roulette and landed in The Mothercrystal with a few new people (I believe one of the tanks was new, a healer, and at least one DPS, although iffy on that last bit). Long story short, after the first few wipes I had warned them that I needed to go in about 13 minutes as my oven timer was going to be going off. I do feel bad as at least one of them had a long queue for it, and I will happily stay through rough runs when I land in them, but I unfortunately had not planned very well and didn't account for a 30 minute trial roulette.

So skip ahead to me warning the group of my impending departure, and it was then that I was deemed the worthless Lala by my fellow DPS. Ended up leaving after the next wipe and came back to a few /tells from my DPS friend.

To clarify a couple of my comments:
18:47 - "oh no" was because I ended up with a TB marker and died. :X
18:58 - "a lot to take in, so can lb3". I had previously started tying a sentence, then they pulled and I forgot to delete the first half. lol. Later on I tried to say they can LB3. The next two lines were me noticing I blended messages.
19:03 - "what?". That's when I read the line about mocking me. ;p

There's something oddly satisfiyng crushing latest raids\content quickly. Had a fast run in Aglaia, we got to the Balance part at 17% hp of final boss and honestly i love that boss, it hurts but it's so generous with LB and damage buffs, gotta be one of my favorites boss of 24 man raids.

So apparently it's not actually possible to defeat Gaius in Praetorium before he pulls the shadow clone trick. If you get him down to single digits, he just doesn't take any more damage until he pops the clones. No invulnerability buff, he just doesn't go down. But when he comes back, a single auto attack will finish it.

In other words, had a really good Prae run yesterday.

The big guy trial afterwards is like that too. It was a 5 minute mistake when i was doing wonderous tales.
