To be honest, in 52 pages we haven't covered much new ground. Mostly it's a matter of folks new to the thread chiming in with points that were made several times before, and others reiterating the counterpoints they've already made.
Still, I wouldn't say it helps no one. Devs do read these threads, and I'd guess that issues folks are willing to debate for 52 pages are ones they'll at least glance at. My personal hope is that it'll prompt some kind of dev response, some kind of explanation as to why they did what they did. If it IS some kind of weird technical reason, they probably won't answer - but I honestly don't think that's the issue.
