Let them die.
Omg. I'm dying right now.
Thank you, guys. c:
So something I've not experienced since 2014 has reared its ugly head again (though this time I joined in progress). Amdapor Keep, 5 minutes. Okay, no big deal. Run up to the group and do business as usual. Fight first boss and we're golden. Tank activates the two gargoyles and we begin what should be the big pull... but there was no inbetween. The two gargoyles were the ONLY trash mobs between the first and second boss. Fight second boss, win and then... literally NO trash mobs between the second and final boss. When I first noticed something was up, I asked if the healer before me was a bot, the tank responded by saying they never saw them. I then later learned that the two DPS with us were also Joiners and that the tank was originally with an AST and two BLM's, three of which he never saw.
The first time I had something like this happen, I was a SCH and the other tank was a WAR (back in 2014). The two DPS were BLM's, who were not with us and apparently already fighting mobs (demon summoned was already attacking me by the time I zoned in, even with the barrier of 'waiting for players' up). Mobs already dead between bosses, etc.
I am incredibly sad right now... Trials roulette suzaku normal.
Thought the MT wasnt safe during the phoenix and exploding platforms mechanic. Activate rescue, he moves (after he moved, rescue activates...) and the hole in the arena was between me and him...
If you read this MT. I am incredibly sorry. It wasnt intentional.
Healer horror story with me in the driver seat... sigh
In all my time playing this game, I have only ever seen rescue used in a positive way once. It was during a run of shinryu ex, in the last phase where you pair up for a stack marker my partner was a healer, and we might not have been close enough after breaking the chains to make it to each other in time so they used rescue on me and it went off perfectly.
Every other time has led to either a death of some kind, or maybe the target of the rescue already knew what they were doing and felt angry that they were forced over to the healer, or whatnot.
I've rescued people and had to apologize for twitch reflex, but you also have to remember I'm also doing it because of server tick: I'm seeing the cast bars at my rate and its the rate that matters when making a choice on how you're going to die.
take the Bardum's Mettle first boss mechanic for rush: 50% or closer to boss = 1 shot. i see you going through a combo as DRG but i know that bars going to finish before you activate your elusive jump, meaning you die. I think I'd rather take the flack for messing up your rotation than seeing if your server tick is better than mine...info I can't exactly see at any point. but over half the time I use rescue its for 1 of two reasons: I think you're too far out of position (commonly bard and RDM do this the most for some unhealthy reason.) another reason is you're basicly out in the middle of nowhere and need the speed to get to us. again accidental positioning happens and server tick occurs and i slide you INTO a hazard. this just means i didn't time it well at all.
the last reason i normally only do if someone wants to fairly piss me off prior (hasn't happened yet) or I'm running with friends and i feel like being a Resc-rude troll.
I am getting a lot of coms on my Bard, then I hear a FC member telling me they are removing utility and party buffs from Bard to try make every class equally represented. I am a sad panda.
Most of it is bard tend to forget they even have party buffs. but it was getting more than a little clustered trying to keep a rotation plus watching your positioning to buff plus knowing when and where to apply them for a number of people. so i can kinda see why they want to remove them...plus a lot of the changes are supposedly going to make them unneeded. we'll see. SE has a habit of doing something sideways at the start.
Not removing them exactly, but they're going to fall into a different spot when balanced against the other two physical ranged classes.
The way it's been explained is that the party utility from ranged physical classes will be redistributed so that:
MCH is selfish with its stuff but has high damage
DNC is MEGA utility but less damage
and BRD is right in between
So you'll lose some of what you have now, but it shouldn't be everything. Remember we don't know what the final class looks like yet. Making assumptions now is dangerous.

Ran into a Level 44+ GLADIATOR in Stone Vigil today.
Tried to kindly suggest they should get their pld job stone. They were altogether terrible at holding aggro (no Shield Oath), and I had to limit break the first boss to kill it before it wiped us.
Thankfully we got through the rest of it without any wipes, though I pity that poor WHM that had to deal with that. I was trying to take off targets to keep them from chewing on the unsynch'd WHM because I had potions and Second Wind at the ready so I figured I could take a few hits being a DRG.
Starting to think that streaming is going to be an automatic thing anytime I'm dealing with the duty finder from now on lol.
Whoo, just had myself a stellar Bard in The Temple of the Fist dungeon.
I queued in on DRK. WHM, BRD, SMN are the others. HP all seems low... oh great, everyone's rockin' i290 gear. Guess we'll be going slow.
I knew we'd be going slow, but dang this feels REALLY slow, so I start paying closer attention. By pull 3, I notice that nobody has BRD crit+ buff, so they're not playing any songs.
[Me] : bard, are you using any songs at all
...silence...
Whatever, lets do this 1st boss. I'll keep a closer eye on 'em. Not only do they never use a song, I also noticed that they never have the Straight Shot buff up. After boss...
[Me] : Okay, Bard, type or somehow indicate that you're an actual person, because I suspect you are a bot
[Me] : You haven't used a song, no straight shot
[BRD] : Huh?
[Me] : do you know how to play your job?
[BRD] : I'm doing fine.
[Me] : for some definitions of fine, uh huh
[BRD] : What does the Rock say?
(what?)
Next two pulls. Same thing, no song, no straight shot, only DoTing a single target despite there being several targets. They never said anything else, so I kicked them.
tl;dr Lv70 BRD not using songs, no straight shot, and only DoT a single target amongst several.
YOU CAN ONLY LEVEL BOOST TO LV60, HOW DID THEY MANAGE TO GET TO LEVEL 70?! UGHHHHHH
I just can't even sometimes like when you get a new ability read it or test it out or something! I have a similar story but in Kugane Castle I had a RDM/SCH (me)/ DRK/ DRG, we all say hello and we begin the pull and I notice the DRGs AoEing, DRKs doing big pulls, I'm DPSing healing etc then I noticed the RDM is doing some...questionable things. They're rotation (if I could call it that) was Tether, Tether, Jolt II, Jolt II, hardcasting Veraero etc I'm just like uhhh I'm gonna ask em if they understand their abilities.
So I ask em if you use Scatter you'll AoE and do more dmg and get more mana for each color, *crickets* the DRK says "yeah you should be using Scatter do you want us to give you a moment to give some advice or?", again nothing. So the DRG makes a joke saying beep boop must be a bot and I'm like I don't think it is and finally the RDM speaks and says "I'm using spells and abilities so i'm doing fine can we complete the dungeon please". We all just go well we can but the dungeon can be completed later all that we wanna do is make sure you understand how to use your basic abilities, the RDM just says "Why can't you people just leave me alone? I wanna do this dungeon I love Kugane", we wait a bit at first boss and then vote dismiss her.
I don't really feel bad anymore about kicking people who had 20 levels to figure out how to use RDM as well as doing all the quests but there's no excuse why you can't even do a simple Veraero/Verthunder after a Jolt, I do appreciate everyone trying to help the sprout so if you're reading this thanks you guys were great.
seems like the case of either one of these
- jump pot player
- not the real person who play the char (maybe little brother or someone who dont know about FF14 and just told to press this and that over and over)
- just being lazy
and judging from your story, seems to be case number 2. had a friend who did that and surprisingly similar playstyle too, told his sister to play his blm char and my friend just told her to keep pressing ice 1 button lol
To be honest, I've come across way too many level 70 BRD who didn't use Foes, Songs, or Straight Shot, to think that it's anything special. It's quite surprising how many high-leveled BRD don't use their skills. Same goes for Dragoons that never uses Heavy Thrust, even at level 70...
Gosh after reading the description of this run it almost sounded like my daily roulette from last night. Having watched the video now I know it wasn't. In my version of this I was the unfortunate WHM and to make the run extra fun, the 2nd dps (a BRD) kept running into the side rooms to pull extra mobs to the GLA tank who already couldn't do his job. At the end of the run I was just mentally screaming "DRG please take all my comms for being the only player that tried to make this run not a complete disaster".
Why do I keep meeting DRKs that use Dark Mind against a giant pack of trash mobs that only deal physical damage. Do they not realize that it's magic damage mitigation only?
So:
-Had a WoD with 3 friends and where nobody knew any strats. So first boss, giant eyeball thing. Tanks fought for aggro, didn't know how to face him away from the rest, people don't know how to do the orange / blue mechanic... it was a disaster.
So I put on my mentor pants and explained the strat for this boss and the result was like day and night. People did amazing. I then proceeded to explain the rest of the bosses and wouldn't you know it, all these newbies did great.
At the end of the run I received 4 comms from my team
-Recently in trials roulette, I had a lot Nabriales run. Easy fight right? Well for some reason every run I got was a trainwreck of healers not healing, tanks not going in meteors but DPS and healers going in, no LB on the tear etc etc..
The "best" one had to be this AST who didn't put any stances on because "It's been a long time I don't remember how to play."
Then why did you queue you dummie?
Had to praetorium, so I went ahead and decided to act the part of an amusement park tour guide/movie host.
I ended up with 5 commendations at the end. We have to make these runs fun somehow.
I can be pretty thick at realizing how things can go together, but even I stopped hard-casting Veraero/Verthunder after 2 dungeons because something just didn't feel right about it all. Did 15 seconds of research, immediately spotted what I was doing wrong - (felt like an idiot for approximately 30 seconds and got over it), practiced the rotation on the FC practice dummy for 5 minutes to train the muscle memory - now I've got it down and am properly leading with the faster-casting spells. (AE rotation is boring though, hope that changes soon)
I recognize everybody has their own learning style or might be slower at grasping things and that's perfectly okay. But to refuse to learn at all is un-excusable!
Well, at least there won't be Heavy Thrust to miss by Shadowbringers :P
Job Action trailer seems to indicate Veraero II/Verthunder II (or whatever they decide to call them) as AoE spells in ShB. And apparently they're aiming to make all jobs have at least 2 buttons to press in AoE situations.
Had the three tanks in a pissing contest in wipehouse last night that i felt like DPSing. Final boss, they had had enough of each other, argued over who was doing what wrong and in our party, our WAR was saying that the other two were "f--king morons" and should "off themselves." Granted, no one was doing great as a tank. One was a PLD who was tanking against the back wall exclusively, our WAR who instead of mitigating would try to dodge moves (like the tank busters and autos) and keep moving the boss, and a DRK who just had no awareness of the party (would stand in AoEs, turn/drag boss into majority of raid, etc.). But here's the kicker: instead of just backing up and saying "hey, I'll let someone else MT this" each of them spammed provoke, talked smack to each other and pretty much everyone else who spoke up to say a healer needed a res or something that had nothing to do with them. Aggro went everywhere, three full raid wipes, lots of smack talk, and I just left them with "please don't have a pissing contest when you're all equally trash, thanks." And people wonder why I insist on MT'ing for raids.
Well, there's Verfire and Verstone, if those happen to proc from your Verthunder/aero. And then you get Impact at 66, which becomes available every time you've done Jolt.
Simple RDM flowchart because I like making these :P
(the bit about Impact going over Verfire/stone if it'd otherwise fall off I'm not sure is accurate, that's just what I heard somewhere).

This is not a tale about a specific run, but rather a specific trial - Vishap.
I main DRG. Usually, I'm lucky to get any commendations at all, and I'm okay with that. I still get them here and there, but it's usually like one or two at most. Not for Vishap, though. It seems to be the norm for me to get 3 or more on that fight.
I don't mind at all, but I simply don't get it...I'm really not doing anything special, let alone anything to earn those commendations. I just stand in the middle of Vishap's ground circle and hit him over and over again. I dodge an AOE here and there. That's it. That's literally all I'm doing.
I get that healing can be intimidating. Hell there was a period of time I got extreme anxiety even trying to do it myself. But if you're solo-healing an instance, even an old one, please make sure you're up to the task. Spamming medica when no damage is going out then complaining about a lack of mana is not going to help you out much. Let alone when the two DPS who could have helped you with mana shift have been dead for several minutes due to no one else stacking with them and you show no signs of actually remembering you have raise on your hotbar.
Thankfully after that I had a very blissful farm of the same instance with another party. Even got a dog out of the bargain after switching to healer myself so all's well that ends well. I just wish people who don't know their class as a healer would avoid trying to solo-heal... With two healers someone else can pick up your slack, but when it's just you then every single flaw is magnified to the nth degree. Don't do it unless you're confident you can handle it. And if not that's fine! Just practice more outside of a farm party.
I had a really strange run of Amdapor Keep last night. Not one trash mob appeared between the 2nd and last boss. I’ve been there at least 100 times, and know the route like the back of my hand. But I began to think we were going the wrong way, back to the start. Then I saw the purple aura of the last boss doorway, and knew we had just experienced a welcome glitch.
That's not a glitch. By any chance did you join an in-progress run? And so did the rest of your party?
A common bot leveling method is to manipulate all the trash mobs in AK to the starting area, blow them all up for the exp and drops, and then leave the instance. Sometimes normal players get caught in this and end up with an in-progress run that has no trash mobs.
