Probably because you consider those who like anything about the game as fanboys and anyone who doesn't like an idea as a troll.

At the moment the only thing going for this game is the graphics. But at this rate, the game won't be ready until its graphics are obsolete.
Sometimes I'm vulgar, but you... geez.Quote:
Now don't listen to the people who say this game is fine the way it is and just needs endgame. These people are people who are idiots in real life and have mental issues and thinks SE cares for there customer base when everyone obviously knows SE could give a damn about there customer base.
My best advice to give SE at this point of time would be to completely scratch the game though and have yoshi go play rift hit cap try endgame and do the same with aion and wow. Afterwards take the things from there and notice how 99% of gamers could give a damn about graphics. Make a game that looks like aion, but has a nice fluid combat system. Afterwards do all the things I said above.
And you are talking about a dude who has 15+ years of MMO experience, and you talk about AION? RIFT?
You won the internet. Now get the F*CK out of here and MAKE ME A F*CKING SAMMICH!
1.) It's been out for 7 months, which is almost half of your so-called "year".
2.) Don't forget that they are changing some of the foundations of the game. Like the battle system, etc. How can they implement end-game content when they are changing things like the battle system and maybe even the lore of the job/class system? Not to mention things like earthquakes/tsunamis that delayed the progress.
Another topic that's a waste of forum space.

This game has multiple mounts. You can build your houses anywhere. You can build castles. You can seige castles. There are hundreds of quests. You can swim, climb, jump, and even swing with ropes. Magic animations don't look like crap. There are instanced dungeons. You can build your own ships. You can sail your own ships. There are no zone lines. You can sail to new areas. You can ride pillion on other people's mounts. There is mounted combat.
And it's still in beta...
It's pretty typical that MMOs today have a similar amount of features during beta. FFXIV released in an alpha state, and it will never be able to compete with upcoming MMOs at the rate it's releasing content. SE needs to invest way more manpower if it wants to stand a chance.
That's why I encourage SE to do something different with this game.
They need to make bold design choices and they need to put a lot more funding behind them, otherwise they will fail. Maybe it won't happen overnight, but it there will be a gradual decline as TERA, GW2, and ArcheAge hit the shelf, all of which offer more than FFXIV has so far delivered (and also promised).
SE makes it look like they're moving mountains just to implement an Instanced Dungeon or a new NM that isn't just a reskin of an old monster. Other upcoming MMOs have multiple dungeons, multiple zones, and multiple boss monsters purely because they recognise what is expected from customers and also what is required to make it against competitors. If FFXIV wasn't veiled in so much Final Fantasy nostalgia and graphical prowess, nobody would play it. And nobody will continue to play it if that's all it offers.
An instanced dungeon every ten months and a new NM just as often is so not guying to fly.
Greencactuar has a point.
18 pages of people feeding a troll? Come on guys, report it and move on.
I think you guys are failing to understand. I'm not a troll all I'm saying is If SE doesn't employ more people updates are going to come way to slowly for the game to be fixed. If they're having trouble adding mounts with the time they've been given then how do you expect them to release future content and small stuff like mounts player housing etc. When games like Wow releases mounts almost every patch and new achivements etc. Not only wow, but much like gifthorse said look at all that and its in beta. Look at rift which had a solid release and had 2million subscribers a week after its release and at this time it has like 2.5million. I realize you guys don't want wow and thats FINE no one is saying this game is going to be like Wow I'm just saying take the good stuff from other mmo's and implement them. I realize development takes time, but development shouldn't take 7 months for a few ui changes.
Thank you for making an honest and mature post. But you shouldn't worry about the mounts, because they aren't high priority for Square, because they aren't high priority for the players. When Square fixes the old content, they can start developing the new content, and when they do, it will be easier to add new features and options into that content. For example, ever sense sidequest have been implemented, we've been getting them every update.
It's you who is failing to understand. I understand that the community is frustrated with the state of the thing, but it's not as simple as just, "Wah! Put mounts in! We demand it." You are overlooking some FUNDAMENTAL and UNQUESTIONABLE facts in your assumptions and that is why you are being perceived as a troll.
1. IT HASN'T BEEN 7 MONTHS
This is a favored statistic amongst trolls. "Wha?! You've had 5 years of development and 7 months since launch!" This is BS. Everyone knows or SHOULD know that the CURRENT dev team has only been on since Jan 1. Does that excuse the state of the game? No. But there are other issues at play here as well.
2. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE
Also another favored saying amongst trolls. "The stuff they have done isn't enough!" We've had way more than just 'UI Fixes' since Jan. Period. And hiring more people won't help when the dev team is focusing on other priorities.
3. IT IS EASY TO IMPLEMENT
You have no possible way of knowing that. Yes they may have part of these transportation systems in place but we have no idea what the current state is of the entire system. The current Dev team has BIGGER priorities. Not only have they accomplished what they have in 3 months (Subtracting one for the disaster), they are also REDESIGNING IT. They are changing the BATTLE SYSTEM, THE CRAFTING SYSTEM, THE COMPANIES SYSTEM, MAPS, AND THE JOB SYSTEM. That is almost 100% of the game that is being redesigned by the new dev team and your biggest complaint is that you don't have chocobos?
This is why people have labeled you a troll. We have heard the same thing a hundred times before. They aren't going to cave and put in Chocobos and Airships when their main focus is fixing the game from the ground up.
Sorry, but the OP has a valid point. I, like most, are being as patient as possible with this game, but they really need to add some serious content to this game. Yes, content takes time to make, so people can just stop it with the cop out excuses, they have had time. It's time for SE to nut up or shut up.
Not much. They only really started working on it 5 months ago, and one of those months was lost due to a natural disaster. They also probably have to do a lot of restructuring of the games code, as it sounds like it wasn't designed with change in mind.
Should it have been better out the door? Yes. But it's not something we can linger on. The past is the past, and we can't change that. We can look back on it to learn from our mistakes, but we can't linger on what might have been. Yoshi is carefully and diligently moving forward because he wants to make sure he does it right. Most of the reason of the games poor launch was because it was rushed out before completion and they relied too much on shortcuts in the games design.
I agree, even after time and time again SE stated content will be coming, especially AFTER THEY FINISH REDESIGNING THE FOUNDATION, AS IN THE BATTLE SYSTEM AND CLASS AND JOB SYSTEM people should know that it will take time and people will just bitch and whine and moan and complain about the content like they already do now.
People will complain no matter what. They add serious content? People will bitch the game is still not as responsive as it should be.
Therefore they want the foundation redesigned first.
I mean do you really consider a few ui changes a good patch? I mean WOO EQUIPMENT HAS ITS OWN TAB is that really an amazing patch? Can you really consider that good? =\ I guess no matter what happens its just fanboys will be fanboys the thing is most of you are going to defend fanboys cause this is a FF forum, but the general public would say the patches are coming way to slow for things to ever be fixed. I mean thing of the release then look at now really nothings changed, I mean yeah sure they've improved the Ui a little bit, but is those 7 or 8 ui changes in the pass 7 months enough to suffice for your taste? What I'm saying is lets look at the overall game and the speed of patches and lets look at how and what exactly changes. most patches are Ui changes and yet you guys are happy with that? Sure progress is progress, but What I'm trying to say is if everyone says SE move faster they'll have no choice, but to move faster. If everyone says remake the game they'll have no choice to remake the game. At this point its a lost cause and they really do just need to either scratch it or be releasing a patch every week otherwise the games just going to die. I mean its already dead sorry. each server barely breaking 300 people isn't going to be enough to keep the servers up even if they all pay the monthly fee. Also don't think of this thread as a troll I mean were just two parties speaking our opinions which is true, but what I'm saying does have a point to some extent. If things don't get fixed faster how does the game have any hope in surviving
I agree.
If SE would have worked on the serious content and released it what would be the result? We might enjoy it but once the changes happen and the current content doesn't fit the changes people will cry about how SE broke the game even more. Then if they didn't overhaul the game(so it would fit) people would complain how they aren't listening to us.
I think the current path is a lot more beneficial compared to the other. 70% of the Eorzea you know now is going to be changed completely so how can they rush that and put endgame on top of it.
People need to understand a few things and drill it into their head if it cannot penetrate.
1)The game has not been in development for 5 years.
2)The same dev team isn't working on it right now(All the top spots were replaced)
3)The first month in they were learning their team(as stated by Yoshi)
4)There was a disaster in Japan that delayed it another month
5)The most important: The game code is fucked which is why the "simple" changes turn out to be not so simple and we have to wait for things like a mailbox system.
They have been in what 5 months now(correct me if i'm wrong)? So they had a solid 3 months of development time working at 100%. Also with the code being as is and disasters hitting Japan I applaud SE for moving at the pace they have been. Would I love A LOT MOAR NAO!?!?! Of course but people need to stop crying over spilled milk and chill out.
Yeah, though I don't put it past people since MMOs these days are generally just copy and pasted with different names for the same content, so there's no long run vision to be seen and people only learned about the short term "what I want" that MMOs coddled to.
People are getting too used to the copy/paste of other MMOs which allows such quick changes/additions to the game since the foundation is already laid out for them. If SE copied the WoW foundation and threw a FF skin on it i'm positive things would be moving a lot faster but at what cost?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you don't play this game or ever read any patch notes. Otherwise you'd know there are more than a few UI changes over the 7 months. So again I reiterate:
This was JUST April and I left out a lot of the smaller stuff they changed. If you want I can go and pull all the major points out of all the patches under the current team.
300 people on each server? Where are you getting your numbers? I'd really love to see the source on it. No seriously, post it and I'll believe you if it's true.
I don't see how they could honestly move any faster. 2 patches a month is unheard of in most MMOs, it's a pretty intense speed. Not to mention they're doing this in sub-par conditions just so they can have the servers running.
besides, those patches are just there to keep us on the ball, and to fix minor problems while the devs are still reworking the more flawed mechanics like the battle system, classes and other balances.
bitching at something is allways easier then actually understanding how it works.
be happy about getting anything at all, because else you'd have to wait 3 months or longer for one big update.
This is exactly why people read your posts and file you under "troll". You are given REASONABLE and LOGICAL information time and time again and you completely IGNORE it while making widely untrue statements and figures that you pass off as fact.
It's not just about pumping out a patch every week. IT CAN'T BE DONE. They aren't trying to STEM THE TIDE. They are REDESIGNING PRACTICALLY THE ENTIRE GAME FROM THE GROUND UP. How could the current dev team POSSIBLY have all this done in 4 months WHEN IT WASN'T COMPLETED IN THE YEARS THE PREVIOUS DEV TEAM HAD?!
Deep breaths.
I'm pretty sure they're just throwing in auto-attack and calling it a day.
I said practically. And one day you will log in and the game will be drastically different, you are absolutely right. Jobs will be named differently, there will be a new job system, a new crafting system, a new grouping system, a new companies system, new transportation, and a new battle system. If you don't believe that, then I hope you keep to your own advice.
How could they do that? Just adding auto-attack is going to drastically change the system in and of itself and break half the abilities as they are. Add on top of that the new job system and the Dev's desire to make classes more distinct and common sense dictates that they have to do more than just "throw in auto-attack and call it a day."
they cant 'just' add auto attack. It would be utterly pointless.
I wouldn't mind if they implemented PvP. It would give me something to do that isn't a complete bore for 7 months and running :P But I doubt it will be implemented in a fasion that isn't completely softcore at this point.
It would be nice if there was actually some meat in traveling into the game world, but there simply isn't enough of that to even call this a solid PvE MMO. Where is this "environment" we are are against!?
