I created a thread in Support Forum, take your screen shot of the msg and tag it to the thread:
[GIL Seller] - Reporting Gil seller
jc
SE. Need to add spam filter under config. It works great in XI.
Highlight name and all of the /tell text ctrl + C, open the harassment window, ctrl + V. Nice, simple, fast.
No way to put gil into the economy, huge deflation coming, gil sellers on the rise. Gil sellers will be leveling classes 1-50 for the 300k you get and selling gil, they will be SAVING the economy by doing this. I hope they stay if SE isn't going to fix the inability to put gil into the economy at 50.
My 107 Amigos and I see it differently.
Anyway, I also get people say add a confirm/cancel, but that doesn't fix the fact that square enix find their own playerbase incompetent enough that they can't either undo a mess up on their own or lack the responsibility to be big kids and block people without derping.
This is getting frustrating what's the point in submitting these violations if SE won't take swift action especially in the case of RMT advertising? There's a patricularily obnoxious RMT spammer that's been repeatedly reported but now 6+ hours later he's still happily spamming away in Ul'dah on Hyperion. D:
Ran into the most polite gil seller I've ever met today. He sent me a spam tell, then ended it with "Sorry to bother." I was pretty entertained, though that didn't stop me from reporting him.
On Lich - a brand new server just yesterday - they are spamming /tells every 15 mins or so to people in the starting areas. It's just crazy.
Is getting so bad that in the main 3 areas there is no more text chat just constant spam by the gil/lvl sellers all a gm needs to do ispeek their heads in the game and they will see
I say ban them all gil sellers gil buyers lvl sellers lvl buyers if someones character get a 100k jump in money than a red flag should go up for se
i ever hear someone got hack for shout sell gil. what should can do in this case?
i hear from friend in ls. gilseller shout sell gil and someone shout that character is his friend who got hacked. long time ago i ever believe SE can protect us from this case. but after play ffxi very long time until ffxiv at now.that's hopeless trust. so in this case happen with someone i known or myself . what can i do?
btw yesterday i logout for 3hr and when back to first login i got this character still in SV.. omg but my stand place still same so np..
Just got done spending about an hour of late night crafting. Received upwards to about 15 RMT tells. That's not even counting the guy sitting in the Ul'dah Adventurer's Guild spamming the ad over and over in /say.
WTB an /ignore function SE.
Ps3 players can't right click.
Edit: To elaborate, the current process for Ps3 players is to write down the name or sludge through the select button to switch menus to get the spammer's name (since his name is rarely there due to it taking up the entire box which is roughly 5-7 lines and the name being hidden) and then use the obnoxious and laggy XMB keyboard to blacklist. There is no easy method for blacklisting and I would very much like one. Of course, I would like them to combat the spamming at its heart, but we can't all get what we want.
Played about 4-5 hours just now, got 1-3 tells about gil, and saw everyone crying about a gil seller in both Ul'dah and Limsa. Was in both cities for about half an hour to an hour, maybe more. While it's a good thing I only have to blacklist one RWT spammer, it's not a good thing when they're there for hours at a time. Many of the new players were simply enraged at him and thought he or she was a real person instead of an autotyper.
While I've yet to encounter this issue, I know that it's only a matter of time before I do. At the very least I would like to see a more efficient means of reporting these RMT spammers, with the spammers being automatically muted* for me when I report them. Aion has had kina sellers in the game since the game's open beta and they still lack an effective means of reporting these RMTs after all these years!
*As in, I won't continue to see their spamming text after I have reported them.
This is a company that won't let us send or receive tells while bound by duty because ... people might be mean to each other???? FF14 is an utter nanny state, and SE is like that kid in daycare that will only share their toys if you play with them the "right way" otherwise they'll take it away and show you how to play with it.
How about an option to right click on their name on the message itself and 'Report as RMT' option? That way, your staff will already have a unique identifier for the message as well as their username. This will also discourage "reverse-abuse" as the moderator will see whether the message was indeed an offer for RMT or not.
Reporting these people should be made as simple as possible, because they do interrupt normal gameplay for us. At the same time, being able to pin the message immediately will mean that there is less opportunity for players to abuse legitimate players of the game.
I don't quite understand why SE is insulting out intelligence by not making a right click blacklist where you might accidentally blist someone you didn't mean to because I feel its rather dumb not to be able to:
1.Copy name from chat and paste in blacklist
2. type them out, the rmt I have seen haven't had names like fjnsiojml sjlmds yet.
It's not hard and maybe they were trying to not insult our intelligence by making yet another "overly easy" option to do things. Though I too dislike RMT and have seen tells every tell was so far by the same person, and everyone in every zone SH and LS I heard complain was also talking about the exact same person. I had them blacklisted before they even sent me a tell. Honestly I don't like the giant right click option. When trying to examine someone it really isn't that hard to accidentally invite them to your free company, your linkshells, your parties and friend lists. I would rather not add additional buttons to not accidentally push imo.
Problem > RMT shouts in X area
Solution > Report to GM
Problem > 1-2 hours later RMT still shouting in X area
Solution > Don't bother reporting to GM's as what's the point if nothing is done quickly?
Problem > RMT shouts in X area and no one bothers to report them as GM's are slow to react.
How difficult would it really be to have a GM monitoring tickets for "RMT /shouts in X area", go directly to that area and instantly ban the shouter? If the GM's were pro-active and quick, responding and banning /shouts in under 10 minutes the shouts would very quickly dry up, the RMT websites would be not want to waste their money on buying the game (or using up their 1.0 accounts) if they knew they would be banned within minutes of their first shout.
/edit before I went to bed last night at midnight I reported a /sh spambot. It's now 16 hours later and in my chat log, is that spam bot.
I thought not being able to send tells while bound by duty because you're there to finish the dungeon/duty, not talk to your friends and get distracted. I certainly feel better knowing the tank and healer in the Bowl of Embers aren't chatting up their friends instead of finishing the dungeon.
^ this. As mentioned in my last post every linkshell, every zone shout was telling people last night blacklist and report "player Name" for RMT, some waited to see the tell to make sure but I know I heard at least 70 people in ls and sh and say say they were reporting, so why was this person still causing ruckus hours later? It was the same person, not banned/suspended and a new one approached, it was always the same person
Reporting and blacklisting sellers is neato and all, but sellers aren't pushers - they can't force people to buy. Suppply and demand. They exist because people want to buy gil/gold.
One big reason why this occurs is because companies fail to punish the cheaters (buyers). Losers are more inclined to cheat when they feel like they can easily get away with it and there's no risk.
The real solution to gil spamming is to kill demand. You do this by crushing cheating losers who buy game currency. Ban them for a week or two for the first offense to show you're serious. Delete their entire account for any repeat offenses. If you show a zero tolerance, and people know there's a risk to being a complete and utter piece of cheating human trash, then they'll be less likely to cheat.
Cut down the demand for gil, and there'll be less reason for RMT to attempt to sell in your game.
In a game with a box and a sub wiping out the seller accounts helps too. Cutting down on the number of morons that deal with shady companies and get their accounts compromised and used AS more spammers, along with cutting down on lame customer service tickets about getting accounts restored (from cheaters who end up getting hacked due to their own lame behavior dealing with RMT) is a good thing too.
This game has some design elements that help curb RMT scumbaggery. For ex, the fact that mounts, normally a big ticket item that cheaters would buy gold to deal with, are obtained with seals - something you must earn by playing - is a good thing.
As much as I enjoy player economy it's one of the things that drives human trash to cheat. All those high priced goodies that can give you an advantage or shortcut the game (buy mats rather than gather them, for ex) are exactly the things cheaters want and will RMT to obtain. Sometimes I think making in-game currency totally trivial and doing more loot as bind-only earned from dungeons or seal-based types of systems is the only way to deal with the problem of cheating losers.
No offense, but I believe you and all the people agreeing with you are vastly underestimating just how stupid a person can be.
And do you think a person who is dumb enough to do something like that is going to be smart enough to know how to undo it? Nope, they'll be right here on the forums "I BLISTED MY FREND KNOW I KANT TLAK 2 THM I QUIT THIS GAM IS FAYL".
My biggest objection to the Gil Sellers is the fact that they are spamming the chat area to such a degree that other things that are far more useful are being missed (ie looking for). I wish the chat itself was a little less archaic in design. Things that make it easy to change venues, add friends, black list and ways to filter "spam" would be great.
SE is working hard to help with these issues. Patience and courtesy will help us all weather things until they can be fixed. I suggest making suggestions to SE rather than ranting here. Always a better choice and nicer for all of us. Have a fun day and enjoy the game.
There is RMT spam on almost every /shout channel. :(
By different accounts / sellers. :(
It really degrades the game. Please do something. :(

Thanks SE for listening...... not.
Gil sellers are now a daily problem for every1 and its clear no one from SE saw this thread when it was made, or cared.
Macro the following and it will automatically blacklist the last person to have sent you a /tell:
/blist add <r>
Pretty nice I thought.
It is no wonder gil sellers are flourishing i am half tempted to buy from them myself had i not a shred of common sense. Everything i actually need costs an arm and a leg i am all but broke due to greedy market transactions, repair costs, bulk uncommon crafting materials etc and then they come along offering 500,000gil for 8 US dollars. Had that been SE that came along and made me that offer i would have taken it in a heartbeat several times over.
And some people honestly do not understand why the gil sellers are flourishing. -.- The greedy community, poor quest gil returns and the cost of progression play a huge part in why these gil sellers flourish and yet these very people are sometimes the ones complaining.
They need to put on an IP ban, because it takes only a few minutes for them to make another character and start spamming Shout and tell
I need a right-click blist + report function asap...
There a problem in a lot of games. I think this is the first one where I have seen them be able to constantly roll my chat screen as faster than I can scroll it:p
I agree with all who have recommended a right click blist and report option.
:rolleyes:A personal Thanks to all the gamers that support the gold selling sites. Without you we would have one less thing to complain about.
I was offered gil yesterday :/ they should make an inbuild way to report them. You know like click the message and have the devs check the chat logs.
By crazy you mean reasonable, right? It was RMT that actually sold items at reasonable prices on many servers after awhile whereas it was legit players who were making it their mission to rip you off - Any new crafted item comes out? Players sell it for 700% profit basically (Costs 20k to make, selling for 2-7 million initially) - RMT sells it for reasonable prices (20k to make, selling for 8-40k). Quite honestly I would immediately buy from an RMT before I buy from someone trying to make 700% profit. RMT ruins economies, but not as badly as players are, especially if you take a look at the market board on any legacy server, you'll see we don't need RMT to "ruin" anything.
