You're right. It's a good thing Yoshi-p isn't trying to target people who are absolutely new to MMOs and wont understand that this "Happens in ever MMO launch"

No, it's not the best, but no where near 1/2 as bad as most and 1000x better the the worst ones..

If you re-purchased the game simply to gain the three days of Early Access it was probably a waste of money. Almost every single AAA MMO title released in memory has had issues of some sort regarding server stability on launch / early access. You probably should have been prepared for this eventuality considering there's a very documented history of this exact thing happening over the course of MMO history.

Always expect the worse, and hope for the best when it comes to MMO's. It's widespread knowledge, that every MMO launch has F*** uped. Why on earth would this RE-launch be any different? Even with all the prior MMO's failed launch examples, how could SE learn from that? I mean who ever learns from their mistakes?

Let's be truthful here everyone expects, and accepts SE's F*** up's. It's not like they have anything to prove this time around, right?

whining about the ball being dropped vs the others who are on the ground giving them a once over so they're all shiny looking. I'd say this was expected after open beta being so short and the 3102 error cutting into most of the NA players open beta.

I'm wildly tired of people apologizing for the game because it's the launch of a new MMO.

No. It's the first day of the re-launch. Square has run MMOs before. They've run this MMO before.

Wasn't one of the reasons they shuttered the doors so they could bring it out once again, polished and waxed, and get rid of the poor impressions people had with the original bug filled and problematic launch? Rhetorical, by the way. It was one of the reasons.

They knew exactly the kind of disastrous launch the game had previously, and they just leaped right back into that same pit and no amount of (other players) excusing and apologizing their lack of preparation or planning undoes the kind of impression that leaves with a lot of players.

rather play the game now than have extended phase 4. early access is doing th ejob of stress test while giving everyone access to the game. After a few days this will just be a distant memory.

Well I've enjoyed launch so far. I woke up when servers came up and played about 4 hrs without issue. Then took a break for the 1st maintenance. Played some more and I'm taking a break now for maintenance again. I'm kinda looking at it as a good think otherwise I wouldn't pull myself away to eat and give my brain a small rest. I got a lot done when I was in the game and didn't experience any lag or drops at all. I encourage people to be patient and let them do what they have to stabilize the servers. Read some stuff on fan sights while you wait to pass the time.

Many of these problems are associated with congestion. The best servers in the world are not immune to congestion issues. The game could of been in beta testing for the next 3 years and it would not be ready for this.

Every MMO during its launch period has issues. Hell, WoW had bigger issues than this during its regular patches, let alone an entire launch. SE's doing pretty good so far in my opinion, and FAR better communication lately than other companies.

You might understand JP/US economics, but you fail to understand that most MMO's if not all have something in common. Bugs, errors and server capacity adjustments.
I agree that they must act quickly on these matters, but other than that, everything is perfectly normal.

Most people know that alpha and beta testing phases are done in order to avoid this from happening, though some expect smooth launches right from the get-go. The biggest test is when it all goes live, and with the big patch between phase 4 and early access, I anticipated this to happen by previous experiences with other alpha and beta tests iv'e been part of.

I too will be disappointed with SE if they take too long to fix these problems.
But bashing a game the first day of launch/early access is simply stupid.
I have my quarrels with the amount of casual approach this game has, but that's where it ends.

SE-Japan does not = SE-America. For those who are like "Y JAPAN NOT HAVING THESE PROBLEMS?!" Well my friend that is because SE-Japan is run by the oh..yea YOSHI who is JAPANESE and his fellow devs/gms are Japanese and they created this game thus they aren't having any of these issues. WE however are having these issues because we are getting a "translated" copy of the game which SE-America is trying to play liaison for and are doing horribly at it. Sure they're fast to take down maintenance and fix things, that's definitely a plus but with any game that's being run "alternatively" to the "original" which don't kid yourselves the Japan one is the original, there's ALWAYS going to be issues like this. MMO launches man...mmo freakin launches~ Get over it <3

awww sheeeeeet, cats outta the bag!

You all realize the combined population for NA/EU is about 3-4x larger than JP, so we have that many more people occupying the servers, if you can't stand watching the NA/EU servers go down, play on a Japanese server, no one is stopping you.

It's easy to attack a person for being upset that they can't play and say this and that, but I can't access my main so am on a JP server on an alt... having ZERO problems.

Let people be upset, frankly they have a right to be when there's an amazing game out there that only can be enjoyed by JP servers.

I hope they can resolve it because this truly is a great game, but til then let the angry people vent and let the fires burn out on their own.

So anyone want to guess the subs lost in the last 2 weeks when they don't have any subs to lose yet haha love this fanbois gotta love them.

Can't advance story line without defeating Ifrit. Group finder is absolute and utter trash.

No worries, though right? I'll just go work on a job quest and get some gear, xp, gil, etc. Until you find that in order to actually defeat the shear amount of mobs in level 20 job quests, you must once again have a group. So again, one is reduced to standing in Ul'dah shouting repeatedly for no one to answer a group plea.

This is not to bash the content (as i haven't/ can't experienced most of it). Class system seem fine. Abilities seem fine. Everything but PROGRESSION is outstanding in this gamer IMHO. I refuse to spend hours at a time to gain 10% of a level. So, thanks but no thanks SE. I'll keep checking back to see what a few of the first patches bring.

Games that don't have an early access will often fall to these connection issues and such when the game is actually launched.

Why are these issues a surprise?

Do we need to show what happened with World of Warcraft when they launched? Took a week of up and downs.

A bad launch is not the reason a game will fail. Its the gameplay and the rest of what you see when you're actually on it that determines it.

We are connected on the internet, its always going to have issues, they can iron out 99% of them and still have maintenance downtime because of that 1%.

Fair enough, I only knew about the instances issue about 20mins before the server went down myself and no one i knew (or that i had seen in local) had commented about it till that point.

So i guess the comment should have read:
The servers have been up a lot of the day and playable with only a small # of problems..
I'd much rather have the Servers off for a fix, then just crashing and being rebooted.

But regardless i still believe this is a good 1st day overall.
The servers haven't been laggy.
No random crashes of zones or servers (- the DF).
Logging on doesn't take long.
Game is running smoothly.

this is my last weekend!!!! plz fix it!!!

I have been doing this since Ultima Online, and people bitching on launch day still never ceases to amaze me.

Ha, I played from Ultima Online as well but still haven't seen a day with 5 hours of maintenance during prime time.

Guess these issues are important to them, sucks because this always happens on my time off. Hopefully Monday which is my full day off will be smooth! *fingers crossed*

A lot of hyperbole here. Technical issues with instances != NO instances available at all. before the second maintenance hit I was able to complete both instances in "Lord of the Inferno."

Also, "All content is instanced"? really? The FATEs, the crafting, the fishing, the exploring, all that, and you couldn't find one thing else to do?

I wouldn't count the 7.5 hours as downtime. Sure, you couldn't do instanced content, but that's not all there is. I (and my guild) was able to level some gathering and crafting, as well as get a sub-class slightly leveled.

Yes, it's frustrating that I couldn't advance my story, but that wasn't needed to play.

I'm not saying SE is guilt-free, but lashing out on the forums isn't going to do much now. Should open beta have lasted longer? Probably, but we can't go back in time. They're working on fixing errors, so they are aware of mistakes and addressing them.

I don't understand the "SE needs to learn from there mistakes" mentality when they're trying to fix said mistakes, they can't go back in time to make the launch any more smooth than it has been, and according to a lot of the nay-sayers they won't get another shot at an MMO in the future.

Any review that has this in it, is one that's utterly useless. A barrage of errors? A Barrage?! Seriously? 2 Errors now constitutes a barrage of errors? As far as I can tell, the two 'Errors' are instances occasionally not functioning properly and congestion.

Fun fact, congestion happens. Unless you can design software that can handle tens of thousands of 'hits' (And let's not forget all the data-handling that goes on with tens of thousands of hits) simultaneously you will get congestion. Computers don't do things instantaneously, unfortunately.

Instances not working properly sometimes? That's not a major issue, especially since it's not happening every time to everyone.

Know what major issues are? 5 Second delay between button-press and action. 5 Minutes everytime you're in the loading screen. Crash everytime you go to a busy area. Mobs/People 'teleporting' (And I don't mean using the Teleport ability). Falling through the world. Getting stuck. Actions not functioning properly. Game freezing everytime you open X-UI element. Cool Story: None of these latter examples are happening.

I am DIGGING the forums right now. All this fantastic misery. Hahaha. One should think the world was about to end, just because people can't play during their Early Access or there's bugs and issues. What did you expect when thousands of people are bashing the servers.
