I was doing the actual quest. I had the first mark done already, but I went to the other 11. As soon as i prayed at the first one (really the second in the quest) one of the ?? mobs dropped like a rock. This scenario seems to explain why SE has given us faster anima regeneration to "call for help". Why would we need more anima to pray in town?

Based on my observations, travelling to all 12 is not necessary. We did have other people in the LS at the other marks after the first ?? mob dropped, so the question remains; do certain mobs need prayers to certain dieties?

It never worked once on the level 72 mobs, but worked whenever a ?? mob was up.

It worked on a lvl 72 buffalo, goblins, cactuars (it heals the non-aggressive though LOL and you only need 1 pray and it willl just heal to full health) a pixie, imperial guys, and the butchers last night.

In that case, it must be only when mobs are unclaimed, because when I was logged in it didn't work on a 72 mob but they were always claimed.

You know, even if it is the GM's I guess they could still be considered deities in some form as far as the game is concerned. People with the superhuman and divine power to banish evil forces with ultimate say over our fate.

I don't really see why this is a source of drama at all. It's a fantasy videogame with gods as an important part of the lore. Prayer makes sense for a game like this and whether you're religious or not, you're playing a game with it as a big theme.

In addition, why is it beyond comprehension that the devs could have added code to make this happen? There was a patch that changed mob behavior after all.

I think the GM is just fooling around and roleplaying with us, but... I'll leave this here :P

I kno /pray works, but also noticed get random debuffs on mob. So I think draining it to 1% is just a random debuff making sense if more ppl doing it chances are increased.

Also for Atomos noticed didn't get any the debuffs, and I also timed it confirming him and his minions despawn on exact timer we see at camps.

Obviously the twelve want us to sacrificial all of our double III enimty materia on our Giantsgall Axes because it's better than their Garuda Screams.

GM's roleplaying that's my opinion.

It did not despawn. You can even see it run around with just a sliver of life left before it DIES.
When I killed one out of three Darnus spawns last night, it has only been up for SECONDS, and no new mobs spawned after it until we killed off everything else by hand.

I wish I could get a dev confirmation on this to make people stop insisting its a glitch or a timer running out on the mobs.

I think it may will be a GM choosing to slay some mobs for us when they see us /praying...but letting the ENTIRE battle be won that way would be a little boring, wouldn't it?? So obviously, if thats the case they would let off. And who knows maybe they're changing the game up and making us have to figure out new ways to kill them.

But I know the golems would have been well nigh impossible without /pray.

Between this SS and the other SS with the Bixies (of which you claim prayer works on) have you considered that it's just been the GMs the whole time? They are the ones who buff you, too.

I've definitely seen praying killing some mobs, obviously not directly, but people pray, few seconds later, mobs die, though this isn't 100% of the time. Though I've not seen anyone getting any buffs.

But seriously. some of these enemies are getting ridiculous. For instance the buffalo? It's impossible to kill when it is enraged, due to the very high regen. This regen is completely outpacing the damage output.

I think there's no doubt that /pray will be involved somehow towards the end, only 7 days away. We will just have to see how this one unfolds and till then, it feels like one of those scenes in a war movie where you are stuck in a point of no return and thus have to charge forward without even feeling a tinge of hope.

Here's an interesting observation from a fellow Masamunite... she says that both the Milvaneth Sacrarium and the Arzaneth Ossuary are designed for mass praying (kinda like a church or a mosque or similar place of worship). Both places consists of a large hall split in two, front and back, and can accomodate many an adventurer, but the neat thing is wherever you stand, you can target the shrine.

Maybe this is what may happen soon.... more mobs start appearing... it gets very dangerous to hang around outside... there will be system messages telling us to start mass praying from within the walls of the two halls...

and then Dalamud will start to fall and then Hildibrand will suddenly appear and manage to stop Dalamud's descent with his outstretched hand. He will then petrify himself and Dalamud along with it and all we can see is a statue of him holding up Dalamud in the sky just like Fang and Vanille did in FF XIII

Anyway...so. I heard that /pray might actually heal regular monsters? And by regular I mean like the buffalo. Or any mob that isn't from hell. It seems /pray helps against Atomos and mobs like that, but helps natural mobs like buffalo. Because everyone stopped praying to this one and suddenly it's HP is starting to decrease >.>; So......... Just a thought.


Oh..but buffalo have a regen ability, right? Hm.

We had fun with the GM today... or more likely, the GM had fun with us, spawning crazier and crazier things.

After that, he told us to go to the thaumaturges guild and pray at the rock there, while he went all epic speech mode, but considering the whole two hours battle, I would say he was just roleplaying and we shouldn't read anything more of that, we were a good audience after all :P

I think this is an indication the praying thing is coming to an end..or dying down in its effectiveness at least. We'll probably see more stuff tomorrow once everyone at SE is back at work lol

Yeah, GM just came to Durandal. Super buffed us, I was killing Imperial Guys in like one full combo. Then the GM spawned a bunch and I died. ): And lost all my buffs. and the GM left.

But before doing all that, she is definitely the reason the Buffalo died. It was here for hours.. she must have noticed we were having issues and came in and killed it instantly after giving us the super buffs (which still didn't help against the buffalo).


Interestingly enough though, She killed it only after I /pray 'd to the Buffalo. Either that was a coincidence in timing, or they're just playing along.

Oh, and while I was typing this. An Imperial guy just walked up the wall into the Adventurer's Guild and killed me. ~_~

It should be obvious by this point that none of this was necessarily planned, it's just GMs messing around because they can (if I was one I'd probably be doing the same thing lol), and because it's something for people to do in the few days until impact

Besides, GMs technically are stuck here until the 11th too. Since nothing counts in the game since November 1st, what else do they have to do? :p

A GM event just happened on Sargatanas. We had wave after wave of Imperial, then Darnus. He buffed us and cheered us on. Encouraged us to fight.

Then he spawned five Atomos and all the Deepvoid that goes with them. Half of us died and he called for a retreat back to the Aetheryte. He did a countdown for /pray then asked us to stay there while he checked if it worked. He came back and announced that it didn't work and that we needed a new plan. He made us all follow him out to the mobs and form a line. Then did a countdown to /dance.

THEN WHILE WE WERE ALL DANCING HE RICK ROLLED US!

Our Judge Rep Deitsu (love him) played our general in battle, having us form a line and encouraging everyone. He definitely paid attention to what was being said as he responded to a great deal of it. When the many Atomos spawned, he had us fall back to the Aetheryte and pray...but it didn't work. Then he had us all go back to face the monsters, form a line, and then on his signal, had us dance while he sang "Never gonna give you up", and watched the monsters fall before our eyes.

It was so much fun!

Yes, it was extremely fun. Much more fun than anything up to this point. After doing this though, I would like to apologize to everyone for my part in spreading the /pray myth.

Sure, it appeared to work for a time, but I have no doubt that it was a GM's kill switch that went off when they saw /pray being used. It's all part of the event. We were given waves we could easily combat in the early days with lots of downtime in between. Then after maintenance we were given mobs that took hours upon hours with many deaths to defeat. So where do we turn when we're tired and defeated with little hope of success? To /pray.

It came as a revelation. As though the long fight till that point was pointless and all we needed to do was /pray to the first mob that spawned and it would have worked. GM's appeared actively today, but they were there the whole time. They let us perpetuate the /pray myth and gave other servers proof of it. Anyway, I'm glad they started coming out with it. It's an icky feeling to know that they were just pulling the strings the whole time, but it was fun to think we had power with /pray for a while. They are doing an awesome job with the event.

So yeah, sorry to the people who knew /pray was a hoax. I should have been more open minded.

We called Rep Bublex a goblin and now he's spamming lots of Goblins for us xD

/pray is still very much working. People act like this is the first time an emote has had an impact on mobs.

Ya I was there for Bublex's shenanigans. It was fun. I'd like it if they'd vary up the scenery though.

If a GM told me, "Quickly! Everyone to <random location> to halt the onslaught." I'd be ecstatic.

Auto attacking mobs for 4 hours then getting one shotted in Ul'dah for another week doesn't really sound like much fun to me. I noticed that some GM's thanked the players for defeating enemies then announced there was an attack on some of the other cities. In my opinion that's the way it should be done. Make us tour 1.0 before the plug is pulled.

Please take us out of Ul'dah and give us something to do "out there."
