Echoes of Vana'diel FFXI Alliance Raid

Im curious about if theyre going to address the elephant in the room if they do try to interlink heavily the real Vana'diel to FFXIV with their mothercrystals being 5 for the 5 main races, each representing a sin but ofcourse Hrothgar, Au Ra and Viera didnt exist to have a parallel in its history.

Hey, Wings of The Goddess had a side fight related to Campaign called Fiat Lux where you could fight the Shadowlord in his Crystal War era glory where he dual wields giant swords and has armor! :D

Nah, the real question is how a lot of these ppl are going to manage to defeat the Dynamis Lord without RDM/DRK chainspelling stun while a bunch of DRK's hit it with Kraken Clubs while souleater and bloodweapon are active... :P

Eh we're above lv50, it'll be fine. :D We're in the lv99 cheese strat phase with a bigger alliance.

I hope they can faithfully recreate some of the graphical effect style that I associate with FFXI, like the blurry glowy afterimage stuff that summons have. It always had a kind of pixelated look to it that I'm not sure was actually intentional and was probably just some aliasing that the effect caused. There's also stuff like all the places in FFXI that had a transparent floor and there was usually a visual effect on your footsteps. I can't remember any specific areas in XIV where that happens but maybe it's already a thing.

Shadow Lord looking sick as always. Hyped to see what we are going to be doing with the Alliance Raid.

I can't wait to fight shadowlord and see who else we fight in the raids and what we get for glams.

Who the who what now?

I think it will revolve first around Dynamys versions of Bastok, Sandoria and Windurst mostly (maybe Jeuno too?). Since Dynamis is a huge thing in FFXI and also strongly tied to Endwalker. Then you have Sky (Ru'Aun Gardens, The Shrine of Ru'Avitau and Ve'Lugannon Palace), and Sea (Celestial Capital of Al'Taieu and, well, you know, the Zilart capital).

So there will be 3 raids: Dymanis capitals, Sky, and Sea.

I hope we get some nice cutscenes

It is appropriate though, given the Kindred exist in FFXIV already as generic Voidsent. Calling it now - this is going to involve the Void/Thirteenth again, with FFXI references; Shadowlord being another high ranking Voidsent leader like the Cloud of Darkness or Golbez (and even more appropriate, given FFXI itself was actually described by it's original designers as "everything they wanted to do with FFIII but couldn't due to the technical limitations of the time").

In other words, we're getting another Eden essentially. I so want to be proven wrong though!

Castle Vzahl Baleys wouldn't be the worst theme, albeit one note...

I actually preffered Castle Zvhal as a theme, aka the 'Baileys' theme... (still remember the first time I ran through there to fight Shadowlord.... my heart was pounding the whole time even though I had a full party helping me).

And to say nothing of Awakening..... (hopes both these themes will be in the upcoming raid - either originals or remixes.... I'm not picky). :D

The bad part of role gear is we can't get each job's different af armor with a couple new creations in the same theme for jobs like ast and mcn that are not in ffxi. I would love for the 3 raids to drop the articfact, relic, and empyrean gear sets respectively even if the relic is just a recolor of the artifact. I would go bonkers if they showed off all that gear as possible drops.

I know its an unpopular opinion, but I am of the stance that we desperately NEED more job/race specific gear. There is plenty of gear that is open to everyone or every job in a specific role. In a game where rp is so important it's sad they don't let us have more job/race/cultural identity alongside the diversity the system already gives us.

I still feel it could potentially end up taking place in the Walk of Echoes (sky kinda has a similar colour). Maybe someone does a Shantotto, but instead with making an Atomos and instead of it going to a different shard, it goes to a different dimension entirely (a place where Atomos devours timelines).

The Cloud of Darkness.. and not surprising Prishe is along for the ride (I was hoping Lion and maybe Aldo would be showing up too), so I guess this is just for the first tier.

Seeing HD Jeuno is wild. I immediately thought of the light pole near the AH area that my linkshell and I used to always hang out around back in the day. Must also be nostalgic for the people on the team that worked on the original to now be working on this version.

The Cloud of Darkness is the 24 man Chaotic Alliance Raid which looks pretty insane

Lovely to see Prishe and Jeuno , I guess we will have to wait till November to have more details. I loved FFXI and left to come here in 2010 but I have lots of amazing memories.

I hope the raid is done well and we get some nice rewards music outfits. I noticed the sky in Jeuno looks cool and FFXI always had cool looking skies ^O^

I'm not really sure where you'd put bosses in a Jeuno raid. Is it going to be one big trash pull to Qufim? Will there be a Rolanmart boss arena? I guess Ru'Lude is mostly a large square, you could put something there with some creative liberties.

Although if they've also shown the Throne Room maybe we'll just start in Jeuno and make our way to Xarcabard? So the boss fights would be in like Batallia, Beaucedine, Xarcabard/Zvahl, Throne Room?

The throne room wasn't a barren circle or square in the screenshot, so it might be the hub.
