Not complaining about the salt I am collecting it. You people are a gold mine.
Our memes are in response to a college essay that contains so little intelligence that it is practically a meme itself. If said essay was well thought-out and/or wasn't someone trying to simp for a company that couldn't care less if they existed, maybe I'd be more inclined to respond differently. What's the problem?
Doesn't FanFest do like, digital tickets or whatever that has items attached to it? Or are they not doing that this time and instead using the mogstation shop?
So long thread say hi too your fellow similar posts who exists in nothingness now.
Here's a good meme from one year ago:

Title: "Inb4 someone tells me Yoshi-P has no control over Mogstation"
Uh? Last year's items? They've been doing that ever since Moonfire is a thing. They always add last year's stuff to the cash shop. Wish it was just earnable in-game, but this isn't anything new. Shouldn't be surprising.
Also, it's been a while, but wasn't it confirmed that CBUIII doesn't actually control the cash shop? Wasn't it someone else in charge? I thought at some point they said it was something like "The Mog Station Lady"? I honestly don't remember the actual facts though.
Wait... So There Is White But No Black?!? What About Orange? Indigo? Or Was That "Purple" Indigo or Violet...? I NEED MOAR!!!
What? FF14 has exponentially more items in the cash shop then WoW. I can't speak for the other games though.
Edit: I was bored and had nothing better to do, so I went and did some counting.
WoW Cash Shop (Excluding services like level boost, realm transfer, etc)
25 mounts
25 pets (minions)
1 toy
5 glamour sets
FFXIV Cash Shop (Still excluding services and fantasia)
121 Costume Sets
31 Mounts
47 Emotes
2 Eternal Bond sets
30 Weapon glamours
119 Armour Glamours
20 Accessories
41 Minions
12 Chocobo Bardings
44 Orchestrion Rolls
157 Housing Items
2 Face Paints
1 Fashion Accessory
Actually it's even worse if that's the truth. Shifting blame to some unknown element because he's to cowardice to take responsibility lmao.
This community... I don't know what to say other than people that defending this game deserved the shitty game we have now.
I honestly wonder if the people making comments such as this have actually played the likes of World of Warcraft. Blizzard don't exactly skimp when it comes to dangling carrots on the stick to work towards in-game. There's treasures in the open world to hunt down, puzzles to solve, various reputations to grind and unlock rewards and the most recent patch added 'Time Rifts' which have multiple different vendors offering multiple mounts, pets, toys and glamour options.
It's always struck me as really strange how a vocal portion of FFXIV's community allow the development team to get away with never really innovating or offering more in-game rewards to please a greater variety of players.
Still bored so I went through and added the price of all WoW cash shop items, which comes out to $935
I don't have nearly enough time to add up all the FF14 items but someone did it in 2020 and came out to $2616.50, and that was three years ago (https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...ng_on_the_mog/)
Yeah right, "high quality" dungeon loot is mostly all just recolors of old content, the "quality" of most glamour in the game is very low because the game has to run on PS4 and not cause performance issues.
I can litteraly go to the glamour dresser or modarchive and when i compare what people do in their free time to what is actually in the game, there is a huge gap in quality and not in FF14's favour.
Dragon Quest X also has a pretty full on cash shop. It has an incredibly large amount of items for glamour, mounts, colouring items, housing, emotes, accessories, HUD Face expressions and ingame buffs. Games playable without it for sure but it has orbs that boost EXP gain for 30 minutes, treasure map content and so on. The XIV store is certainly par for the course for Square Enix. At least the prices aren't as incredibly painful.
If anyone wants to take a gander: https://hiroba.dqx.jp/sc/shop
It's (un)surprisingly common here. Doesn't matter that the company hosting their favorite mmo is slowly becoming scummier and pushing the envelope on what it can and can't get away with from a monetization standpoint; long as they can keep doing their own thing, then all is well. And it is! It's all well and good ... until the company's awful anti-consumer business practices touch something they like. Once some feature they wanted to see in the game is being sold to them for the price of a whole separate video game, then it'll be their turn to make a thread complaining about it. A lot of people woke up to this reality when the dog mount they assumed would be a blu reward for playing the game was sold to them instead. Sooner or later, everyone sees a glam item they like, only to do the research and learn that it's a cash shop exclusive, sold in a bundle of gear they don't want but will be forced to pay for anyway if they want to get the singular piece they were after to begin with. Or an emote that was bundled with a figurine 5 years ago that can only be purchased nowadays through scalpers. Or maybe it'll be Christmas and you'll want a tree for your FC house and then you'll learn that you can either spend 10 million gil on a hoarder's marketboard tree or several dollars in the cash shop since they're never bringing that event back because they'd rather just sell you the damn thing.
In a perfect world we'd all want Square to adopt more consumer-friendly business practices surrounding their cash shop, especially since we're already buying each expansion and paying a sub, but Square will never ever feel that kind of pressure because for every one (1) person who thinks critically about this sort of thing and what the implications are going forward, there are like 300 people who will just buy whatever's on the cash shop the moment it comes out. So in a weird way, I can understand Renalt's inability to give a shit. I just hope he's not shocked when one day the things he has fun with disappear behind a paywall. It sucks too, because you can avoid the shop and refuse to spend money there out of protest, "vote with your wallet" and all that, but the hyper-whales in this game who buy and gift and fanta-addict and etc. will invalidate your vote 200 times over. You can do everything "right" from a conscious consumer standpoint and still end up with the stereotypical greed-motivated game run by a company that creates problems to sell you cash shop solutions, in part because people with more money than sense can't just close their wallet for two minutes.
It's simple. Vote with your wallet. I go by that rule with every single game or really anything in life.
I do not like microtransactions. Instead of making post after post after post after post about how much i dislike it...I just don't buy it. Why? Because money talks.
I don't like the direction the game is going. I've lost interest. If 7.0 doesn't start steering in the direction I like? I'm gone. No microtransactions. No sub. Done.
I don't like Blizzard. Therefore I don't buy their games. Would I like Diablo 4? Probably. But I vote with my wallet.
I don't like EA. I don't buy their games. Would I like Jedi Survivor? Probably. I vote with my wallet.
I'm not contributing to the practice of "Man I really don't like these...but I want it so here is my money".
Will others disagree with this view? Absolutely. However you know why I do what I do. I won't change it. You can't change it.
"Just vote with your wallet!"
Meanwhile the limsa afkers will buy 6 of the same thing just to spite you. Not buying something doesn't matter anymore because there's a dozen people who will just buy absolutely anything SE puts out.
I can't see the comment that was defending price gouging as I have whoever made it blocked, but if people are actually defending price gouging, that's sad and it reflects pretty poorly upon the health of this community as a whole.
This is a problem in a lot of industries. There's too many people who just don't care and keep feeding into the problem. There's nothing people with standards can do until the apathetic start gaining a little self respect.
yeah, the last spark of resitance, because the fight is long lost.
Sorry players we can't make Viera hats, but here is a new glamour set in the cash shop with a hat your Viera can't wear.
Sorry wen can't put Mogry Station items in the Armoire to free up the glamour dresser space, but here have some new Glamours in the shop.
Sorry we can't put the glamour Dresser in your house either because the person who coded it had no idea what they were doing.
Rip-offs, rip-offs, rip-offs.
Psst the angry Mogshop lady hiding under your bed isn't real.
She can't hurt you.
