No trailer at E3 LOL @ SE

I am very interesting in NA's thread goes so faster than JP's about this.
They are disappointed of course, but seemed getting fed up with SE's bad habit.

Because SE always passed the dead-end of schedules and never fulfill their roadmaps at each time you see, nearly lost any expectation about this stuff.

So it's very usual lol.
Even Square Enix has confirmed a hefty line-up of games for E3 last week but new FF14 was not included.

There might be better way to show the rebirth of FF14 rather than in E3 perhaps as Yoshida says, however It's no doubt of SE clearly DID skip the expectation of newbies and trust of veterans, not only the trailer.

I always thought it was going to be a trailer focusing on the new graphics engine and map redesigns, and possibly some hints towards the post 7th Umbral Era storyline. It might have a bit of CGI, but I would not expect it to be entirely that, especially when 2.0 and the relaunch is the highlight here. Anyway, we'll be getting it all a day or three late, and I am very excited, but it does seem like a terribly wasted opportunity when there are so many gamers who will be at E3 who may have either given up on XIV or are just unaware of the fact that there is going to be an overhaul next year.

I really can't fathom how anyone would believe a cgi trailer, that is completely unrepresentative of the game, would have been good promo for 2.0 at E3, or even necessary. Unless actual gameplay was shown in it demonstrating the differences, a trailer would be pretty much pointless.

Let's be honest, would any of you who are bitching about it not being shown genuinely have been content if that was the only thing they ended up having as promo?

/facepalm Its all about Marketing.. It could very well be all done ( probably it all done), but choosing when and how to show it off is a part of the process.

Yes, FFXIV will be there in some capacity, but how do you know for certain that the entire trailer was ONLY CGI? For all we know E3 holds nothing but pictures and interviews now. Which is disappointing.

I'm not a WK, but they might simply get overshadowed at E3 if they push too much info out then. Pushing the date back for major coverage helps condense the viewing audience towards FFXIV.

I still expect information from E3, though, and video footage from the booth, just not a "trailer," which was probably cinematic anyhow.

They've obviously been working hard to get something ready for E3 and their website, since there has been no information for weeks on the Lodestone, there's a post E3 letter ready, and there hasn't been any discussion about 1.23.

They never said it was only a cgi trailer. It could be 80% gameplay or it could really be just cgi, but they never stated that it would be cgi only.

Because CGI is take a concept and then execute it. It doesn't revolve around systems being put in place and being ready. It's an entirely separate team.

Whilst I'm very disappointed that there will be no trailer @ E3, I'm happy that they're not releasing something that clearly isn't ready. Bad publicity is far worse than no publicity.

I think this is fine...I'm glad they are getting wiser. The community will bash whether or not SE gives them anything...as we have seen on these forums complaints when they are given something and complaints when they aren't.

Nah not really, there's been speculation that it'll be released just after E3 anyway. As well as the fact that there was already an open(ish) beta, there isn't really much to show at E3.

SE missed their biggest chance at saving XIV. Exactly when all of the gaming industry has their eyes set on E3 for the biggest news on the year... How giving to world less = a flood, is beyond me. I can bet anything that their trailer was pure old stuff mixed with 2.0 CGI and since they saw that almost everyone was expecting something big, they choked.

Anyone else disappointed by this? Most pple that were turned off by XIV because of it's poor launch, will not be looking up by themselves for 2.0 news, nor will they give a crap about a website. Pple that never played, know by now the bad reputation the industry has given XIV and they missed their chance to bring in these pple too.

Good Job SE! They should get an award at E3 for management of the year.

E3 while big isn't the same E3 it used to be...have you been or seen the E3 of the last several years? It's not for the gaming community anymore...it's for a bunch of game companies and "press" light on the "press" to hobnob.

The press never really even cared about Final Fantasy 14 anyways...it got very little coverage and promotion before and after it's launch.

As far as getting the player base um...they are here and they are coming...you forgot the huge majority of player base will be PS3...as Final Fantasy has always been CONSOLE.

As far as bad reputation. I don't think SE is hurting there...record profits last year even with FFXIV issues. SE is a power house and if they wanted to go full force and advertise and get their product noticed they would.

Don't get me wrong, I strongly dislike Kotaku, but nonetheless it's one of the biggest websites in the industry and is visited by LOADS of people. This is the kind of impression they're giving.

And what would have been the impression if the trailer wouldn't have met expectation of medias? Even worse. SE only have one shot now. They cannot allow themselves to release anything related to XIV that's not perfect.

Yoshida said the trailer is finished. Read the letter.

Obviously if it's finished and it's a bad trailer now it will still be a bad trailer in August (and I doubt it, if there's one thing I still trust SE in is making good trailers, they've always been amazing with trailers).

Also, no one knows at what point was the trailer created, it could have been built around an older build of 2.0 which they didn't want to show off for all anyone but SE knows, this is exactly what I meant by 'quality', because they want something substantial to show along with something that will leave a good enough impression that makes people want the game. Much like the original XIV was built on a barely finished Crystal Tools engine that was clearly not designed for MMOs, so while it was pretty..it had many more problems.

What if they finished the Crystal Tower after the trailer was done for example? Wouldn't it be better to also show off a glimpse of that in the trailer even if it's just a fly through? That would have made for a better trailer overall, but as said we don't know the content but when companies tend to make trailers it's not always of the newest or even final build. Look at GTA V, even the reveal trailer looked pretty good yet it had almost..nothing.

It's not like to the trailer isn't finished. It's just not being released for 2 more months. So either way it wouldn't have mattered.

We, I mean Legacy Players just wonder why they keep providing info by only silly texts so long time.
It may not reach the quality or just drop some work whatever but thing is still necessary to cover it for them.

That means all roadmaps will go slide a month and half AGAIN.

Sides...the trailer could reveal too much about how the 7th umbral era will end...so let us all soak up the remaining bits of the 7th umbral before it goes away...

So my thinking is that current Grand Companies will vanish into free companies for 2.0...all the current primal fights will end as well. Though the primals will probably return for 2.0 the way we fighting them now and rewards will cease...
