I'm quite happy even with some issues with the game!
Though I'd share what I got after lots of grinding and work ... my new Anima Weapon!

No matter which MMO I have called home in the past few decades, forums always end up being more fully of doom and gloom I find. Anger and negativity generate more noise and content. For my point I adored Endwalker, and I know many other people did.
If you want upvotes for telling others how much you love the game and having them do the same, the Reddit is the place for you.
If you want people who (presumably) love the game and want to talk about the problems more than the good parts to try and make it better, that is the forums.
If you consider it "toxic" to talk about places the game sorely needs improvements or changes in, in a constructive and politely critiquing manner, then you're honestly the toxic one in the equation.
Sorry not sorry.
But hey, least the mainsub will have one more toxic positivity crusader upvoting yet another generic catgirl anime-style commission, I guess?
People verbally flipping the bird and calling others a troll for having a different opinion, yeah real constructive and polite. Not saying you did those things, but they happened to me today, again.
The fact of the matter is this. The vast majority of complaints on these forums are so petty and so tiny. I think a lot people playing this game don't know what a bad mmo actually is.
I guess an entire role getting gutted and ignored is petty and tiny. I guess a race waiting 3 years for new hairs only to get 6 hairs that cut off their racial features is petty and tiny. I guess losing out on an entire dungeons worth of gear, most gear in a new expansion being reused and undyable, and almost every job being simplified is petty and tiny... Totally no problems here keep moving on.
As for toxicity, all i can say is i personally find the forums much better than reddit, where when i give constructive criticism im met with racial and homophobic slurs, and people who stalk me and make alt accounts just to harass me and be homophobic/sexist because i dare criticize this amazing game.
Having read what you are talking about, sure people probably went a bit overboard but you have to understand their thought was you were commenting on something without knowing the context or even understanding what the complaint was. To them you look like a troll because of that.
And I disagree about the "vast majority" being petty or tiny. In my eyes there are a lot of threads complaining about the same things because multiple people see a problem big enough that they need to come to the forums to try and voice their opinion on it. Whether you agree or disagree is fine, just understand where someone is coming from in a complaint so you can come up with arguments for/against it in an informed manner.
Huh? What role was gutted? I assume healing, because I keep seeing a lot of posts from folks who seem to want to just be DPS with an instant queue.
Yes. I am going to call that one petty and tiny. If you were stuck with one hair style then I would get it. You aren't.
I have no idea what you are talking about with the first bit. I am casual, after all. I also am still probably new enough to not care, at all, about reused gear and if something is undyable I either wear it as is, or find something else. Quite petty and also tiny I would say.
I would be lying if I said I had heard zero complaints of jobs being "dumbed down" in game. But Ive also heard plenty of people saying "oh yeah I like the new AST for Endwalker" or more recently, SAM lost an ability or something? IDK, but again enough people Ive talked to in game who either didnt know about this or did not care, that im gonna go ahead and slide this one over to tiny and petty too.
Stalking and harassment here, reddit, or anywhere is inexcusable and awful. Im sorry that happened to you.
Mostly my whole thing is using sarcasm as a coping mechanism for general exhaustion and burnout over the world at large, especially over the last few years, but that's neither here nor there.
But less flippantly, my point was that any attempt at actually discussing anything is getting buried behind people who endlessly repeat the same complaints in every thread, which not only kills discussion and leads to the entire place feeling negative, it's also just boring. But Twelve forbid they actually be told that, because apparently their right to repeat themselves at the expense of talking about literally anything else is sacred and anyone who disagrees is a troll/white knight/whatever other meme insult they feel like pulling out.
Who are you to straight up marginalize what people care about? As if your personal anecdotes are going to make the game more fun for me, or return the game back to how it was in HW/SB. Do you even understand that vast amounts of the good things about FFXIV are the direct result of people in the community voicing concerns and the developers ACTUALLY RESPONDING before things reach a breaking point that cause people to unsubscribe? How do you even think 2.0 happened?
This is the same garbage happened to WoW, a slow gradual slide into worse class design, a story that makes less sense, a complete disregard for sections of the playerbase, and people who say "NOTHING IS WRONG, YOU ARE TOXIC" it's literally the exact same thing.
You people need to realize that this "amazing, top tier" mmo was BUILT off the playerbase that was here before you WoW people came in and started fellating the dev team for treating people like basic human beings. We already had a problem with idolization and overcentralization around a single person compared to the hundreds it takes to make this game. Now that a developer isn't straight up urinating in your mouth, you're blind to the ACTUAL issues that a lot of us have been fighting against for half a decade for the sake of a better game, such as the latency, job design, or botting problems. The game is still good, but it CAN be better! I'm not going to settle when we've been in better, more fun spots in the past.
You don't need to be casual, or hardcore, a veteran or a new player to grasp this. If you can't even empathize, at a bare minimum, sympathize with those of us who feel like the game we have loved for six or more years is constantly being eroded away, or those of us that mourn the complete deletion of entire jobs styles and systems that we were really attached to, or for those of us that fight and expect more from our game that "better than WoW lmao" than then you really do belong in the Reddit echo chamber. At least we try to get things changed for the better in this trash heap of a forum.
That is a fair point. I think that may do with the fact we have more players now then ever. Also think the whole situation with housing has hit a particular nerve... personally speaking, its about the only think I have passionately and negatively spoken out against
Tries to defend the place by saying it isn't toxic...by being toxic. This is kinda what the issue is dude. Most of the crap here is just people taking shots and insulting others for differing opinions. Call spots like reddit bad if you want, but if I want to have fun with the community outside of the game that's the place to go. Not here. Positivity here gets strangled
These forums are meant to be a place for criticism. So obviously its not going to always be rainbows and sunshine. Reddit is literally just as bad except the opposite. This place might be all about criticism, but that place is nothing but toxic positivity where if you disagree or critique at all, you get blasted for it. I've had it happen personally as i already stated here.
I stopped taking this game seriously after LL69 and Yoshida's obsession towards new/ non mmo players, and 6.1 MSQ. And you know what? I feel so much better now. I just log in, do my reclears, unreal, a bit of gathering, some roulettes then I log off.
So yes, for what it is now, I'm happy. I haven't played for the last week because of sinusitis and surprisingly, I didn't miss the game that much. If it wasn't for my friend, I wouldn't have logged yesterday for the reset. But I did and it was a fun evening nevertheless. I still like the game, still like doing battle content but I don't care enough anymore to complain about stuff I can't change, or is agains't devs vision.
"If citizens are complaining, it means they still care"
That's goddamn right. *said in Morgan Freeman voice-over*

Boo hoo, cry me a river. Maybe if you people actually tried to engage constructively instead of shouting down and gaslighting everyone who has valid critique and criticism over various aspects of this game, I might actually bother to be polite. But you reap what you sow; don't like how I act to you? Should've not acted like that towards us 'vocal minority of complainers'.
It's rather funny that it's Ikara of all people trying to take the moral highground. Maybe someone who believes the game is just fine the way it is and didn't engage with petty squabbles over it could have a leg to stand on, but IkaraGreydancer of all people has zero place to speak. All they do is go around making passive-aggressive potshots and insult others for having a differing opinion. Seriously, Ikara, is honesty just an alien concept to you or are you just a super cool elaborate troll?
Aye, Yoshi has made it clear that the vet base that's here for an MMO experience are hardly welcome anymore. I'm letting my sub lapse and just accumulate gil in the meantime when I'm not playing other games. It also didn't help that, at least how I personally feel, Yoshi has been far more flippant towards the community lately. The arrogance that comes with success is not a new story to any development of any media and I fear we're arriving at that stop ourselves. Not that I ever understood the Yoshi worship, though, honestly. The man's skills (used to) lie in managerial ability, not developmental. The cracks of this lack are forming now and instead of trying to address them, the man seems more content to tell us to just leave.
Sad. I really like XIV.
I want to apologize if I seem dismissive of anyone's concerns. It is never okay for anyone to say "the things you have issues with do not matter." And if I have come off that way, im sorry. They obviously matter to you and if they matter to you then they probably matter to someone else too.
That said, I do think a lot of people who frequent these forums could benefit from some perspective. Maybe take a step back from the game, gaming in general, and have a look and see just how good we have it here over all. I don't think even the staunchest Yoshi sycophant would say the game is 100% perfect with zero room for improvement.
My only point is that it seems that some people let their enjoyment of the game be ruined or be driven to extreme emotion over cosmetics or 1 or 2 jobs not performing quite perfectly, when so many games have it so much worse. It really just wreaks of first world mmo problems.
This is a FINAL FANTASY XIV™ Official Forums. We are voicing criticims aimed at FINAL FANTASY XIV™. I literally don't care who fucked whom in Blizzard's office. This has nothing to do with FINAL FANTASY XIV™ and carries no relevance on validity of criticsm of FINAL FANTASY XIV™.
Not crying at all lmao youre the one upset tbf. And what are you talking about? Who here was rude to you? I know for a fact that I wasn't. Plenty of us engage constructively but that never matters it seems because we're always "wrong" no matter what if we don't share your grievances.
You don't get to basically claim the place isn't toxic by being toxic yourself dude. That's hypocritical no matter how you try n justify it.
You're putting yourself on a pedestal like you're above other folks, "us vocal minority". This is the type of stuff that makes me say you can't exactly be on the OF and express that you like the state of the game. That's taboo and wrong think. This is probably why the devs ain't listening to yall. To much bs and infighting to take seriously. Such a welcoming community...until you don't crap on the things others dislike about the game
We've had different forum experiences then. Perhaps game genre, perhaps the difference between official and non-dev-connected forums – although the one official forum I spent some time on (Insomniac, before they shut it down in favour of a chaotic Discord) seemed decent, from what I can remember. The devs were actually somewhat active there, though always said they outright couldn't take suggestions from players for legal reasons.
Most forums I've been in either revolved around lore discussions or providing game help to people.
Buddy I've literally been playing other games just because 14's getting worse and worse ever since ShB, and let me tell you, those other games do a LOT of things better than 14, yes including WoW, the game that everyone in this community has a hate boner:
WoW job design is better than FF14. The specs are still unique. Blood DK plays totally different from Brewmaster. Disc Priest plays totally different from Holy, and fucking BEASTMASTER (yes WoW has a BST) plays different from Survival Hunter.
Destiny is literally moving away from their dumbed down system of "3 skill trees" opting for more customizability and build crafting. Bungie has been adding more and more depth to the game ever since Beyond Light. They've even changed their encounter formula from literally "sit in the Well and shoot at the boss while he stands still" to literally "yeah this boss actually will kill you while you shoot at him, so don't sit in the well."
Fuck, even V-Rising showed how good the housing decoration system can be if people didn't have to rely on glitches and bullshit to do anything.
Yeah ofc those games have their own weaknesses, but we're not talking about that. We're talking about what FF14 can learn from other games, what the devs can implement into this game.
And before you say "OH MY GOD THIS IS FF14 NOT WOW OH MY GOD REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE". Bud, did you know how your god actually managed to save FF14 from the disaster that is 1.X?
They literally took the good things from other video games, and used that to improve on the weaknesses of FF14.
Cause I still love this game, and I want this game to be the best it was, the best it HAD BEEN. I WANT this game to be better, so I offer solid criticism from my PoV.Quote:
wElL pAyO, wHy dOnT yOu sToP pLaYiNg FF iF yOu cAnT aPpReCiAtE yOsHiP's gReAt mInd? fF14 bEsT gAmE bTw bEsT mMo UWU.
The moment the players don't give a fuck about the game anymore is the moment the game dies. If it can happen to WoW, the game where everyone thought it wouldn't fail, then it can happen to FF14, the game where clearly people think won't fail.
You're free to disagree with the criticism, just offer valid counterpoints on why you disagree. That's fine and totally welcome!
But if you're trying to silence criticism by saying "oH mY gOd tOuCh gRaSs! FF14 BEST GAME UWU UWU UWU UWU UWU!!!!", then you don't really have anything to contribute to the discussion, and respectfully, shut the fuck up.
If you really have this mindset of just being satisfied with mediocrity in life, then more power to you! By all means, enjoy the game! Don't let what other people say ruin your enjoyment of the thing you like.Quote:

We're not screaming at you to stop playing and enjoying it. In fact, we encourage it!
Me personally? I want the best in life, and that includes the hobbies I immerse myself in, including gaming, including FF14. You don't get to tell us that our criticism isn't valid just because you consider the Big Mac as the best burger you ever had, but the moment you discover that that Big Mac can be improved with extra cheese or something, then feel free to come back here and offer your criticism. You're more than welcome to! Or don't, that's fine too.
I'm happy for playing the game. I have my up and downs like everyone else, however i can still criticize it, if you like/love something you can, correct?. I'm disappointed that i know the team can do better as for as the game direction. however when they start cutting out dungeons, simplifying things with no explanation on why it gets you thinking.
I do understand that it takes time to improve on thing and/or add things.
Currently there is no in-between content only goes from normal, extreme, savages, and ultimate's. He did mentioned that they are going to look into adding some midcore.
Races have not been updated in years.
Just to name a some from the on going list already have. ( didn't mean to go on a rant >_<)
you wanna know why i'm not happy with the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV which has a free trial, and includes the entirety of A Realm Reborn AND the award-winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 with no restrictions on playtime?
the fact that SE keeps deciding to see how much money they can cut from the team and development and how much they can wring out of the game
people say money can't buy happiness but it sure as hell can fix issues with a game. maybe not all *looking at the current state of server shortages* but alot of them? yes
I mean, if we didn't care about the game, we wouldn't bother writing stuff to bring attention to issues and get exhasperated when ignored.
It's people that don't give two craps about the game or settle for the absolute Bethesda-levels of "bare minimum" that say "The game's fine, why are you complaining?".
I mean, just 6 months after a brand new expansion, 98% of my formerly active FC doesn't log in anymore. We had about 80 people, now down to 69 and, most nights, I'm one of the only people that ever logs in. Some nights, I'm the only person. There are many, many people that I used to play with all the time that I haven't seen in 6-9 months.
Obviously, everyone has a different experience, but based on my experience and the people I play with, most are not happy with the state of the game right now.
I'm happy. Whenever I feel like I'm in a content drought, I go fishing. It's an important counterbalance to P3S prog.
I recently attained 441\441 minions, completing the full collection. That will carry me for a few months.
