Yesterday, I seriously thought this thread had already hit bottom. Now you guys are excavating below the bottom just to prove me wrong.

All of it is troublesome to me. That achievements are used as weapons to poke or defend with...that people look to the developers as surrogate parents....that people who BLM burn decidedly do not mention when posting on this thread because would leave them open to a potshot like the ones they take...(which is common and establishes the Bravery of Being Out of Range actions)...that you don't know each other at all, not even on the same server and maintain still a serious interest in what any one does.

The disconnect is a bit disturbing.

This isn't how to clone items or gils. Even if you feel it is the worst possibly cheat, just don't do it. Don't worry about any one else, Joe Blow having 7/7 Garuda weapons does not affect your gameplay in the slightest.

By the same token, if you do BLM burn, you know it pisses people off...to antagonize people intentionally means you need them to feel weak so you can feel strong. So unless it is something that needs to be established ad nauseum, then why bother saying it again?


Anyway...have fun in the sandbox. I think a saw a mithra in the corner do something...

You're an idiot, first of all the people who won it the first time did not use the exploit, second, even if they did reset the contest, do you realize that everyone now knows the proper strat to win the fight now? Everyone may as well just write down 10 minutes to the first kill because that's how long it'll take.

It actually doesn't piss me off at all haha. I find it extremely entertaining the lengths people have to go to to actually accomplish successful endgame content in this game. As a matter of fact I was watching a popular livestream earlier (I will leave the streamer anonymous for privacy sake) and they were BLM burning Garuda. One of the members in their group said verbatim "Guys we need to farm this as much as possible since this is a limited time strat!"

I literally pooped my pants because I was laughing so hard.

Now I am embarrassed :(

As, I cant Condem Starlord by his comment, I would like to add this to it:

IF the patch comes out, AND you can no longer Burn Garuda with enough blm damage, to Skip the middle phase, Where she warps around the screen and goes straight into the rotating sand plumes, as you walk clockwise (see BG video), Does that (even though they were playing to best of their ability, and if that meant it surpassed a phase due to lack of restrictions/structure "Completely on the Dev team shoulders") Does this not mean the following will be true:

1: BG as a well formed team, Put out great damage resulting in partial exploint Unaware to them or developers, and thus resulted in a Win early, though most rightly deserved than expected.

2: The resulting patch "may or may not" now restrict it, to where "astral flow" whatever you wish to call it, will now result faster, thus negating the ability to skip any phase. forcing all to experience all three (if you wanna break it down farther fine by me) phases, result in negative feedback toward the dev's about their mistake.

NOW before you flame. I am not saying BG exploited anything, but if the resulting patch negates the ability to skip a phase anything pre-patch, "known or unknown" would be DEV TEAM error, and not those who were succesful, but still none the less, a win by error, not a win per the intended form they hoped to design it to be. BG i am sure was on the top of many minds to be first to take down garuda. And if by their win, and the resulting exploit of thier original win strat, which im more than willing to say was based off of BG's win. (3bmls, skipped a phase, what would 5 do...) has shown the way to "fix dev error's" then BG stands as Original win in my book.

WHO THE HELL CARES WHAT THE ABOVE SAYS, BG won by skill, Their Strat was exploited (3blms skipped a phase, what would 5 double/trip melded + Elixers do....) , and now there will be a patch. If you can no longer skip a phase by a little more DD with three BLMs, GREAT!!! the price of all that tripple melded blm gear and INT materia might come down much less the 60k per elixer... cause now even the guys wearing all AF will eventually get to same place with teamwork!!

Yoshida should really just give let us QA for them on pre-patch content so they don't have to go back and fix all these poorly designed mechanics that people love to exploit. We'd do it totally pro bono.

There is no set amount of plumes in Phase 1 just so you know. Not sure if they will spawn indefinitely as long as her HP is above 60%~ but more can spawn. I figured since you guys kill it enough you'd notice that the "third plume set" (her Aerial Blast set) only happens when she's below 60%. It is the "infernal nails" of this fight and it's the part of the fight that isn't working as intended.

My point earlier was that phase skipping is the BLM zerg but toned down. Get her to 40% or less during the last plume set and she'll skip Phase 2 since 40% is the third phase trigger (what you guys do). Push the DPS further and you just kill her outright (what BLM zerg does). If she does have an auto Aerial Blast at a certain % like Ifrit's Hellfire then that's clearly what's not working. And the moogle fight's Memento functions completely different so it's not an equal comparison. The entire first half of that fight is "infernal nails". But you are right, the devs didn't mean for us to skip Aerial Blast but I'm sure phase skipping falls in the same category.

@TheReal22Doppleganger: Moogle was cheap. Got awarded for sucking. Nuff said about that. I am in agreement with you in regards to why they are patching it, to make the fight function properly.

I stopped a long time ago, all I see is trolling for 3 pages long on 1 post about how I feel.. I think the people that are responding to it are being lil babies.. I said how I felt and left it like that, not my fault other people keep responding to it several times.

nah, already covered this at length on page 15. skipping plumes 2 and phase 2 are examples of game design working as intended, to make sure you're still forced to deal with the harder parts of the fight, no matter how fast you burn her. that's a mob AI HP check, and it's intentional.

the AI for her aerial blast HP check, however, is bugged. which has been acknowledged by devs. which is why you can skip it, even though you can't with any other primal.

BG beat Garuda first legit without using an exploit as a strategy. Why must the contest start over again? It is like saying I won a race, and then in the 2nd race, someone finds a shortcut to win the race. Now under your logic, I would have win the race again, because there was a potential exploit in there, despite myself winning the race legitimately.

I wonder if you would still feel the same way if you were the world first kill.

If I was the world's first kill and something about the system wasn't working as intended I won't feel like I won, I would feel like I cheated through the system without knowing.. thus not feeling like a graceful win.. A Win is a win sure.. but is it a 100% honest victory ( a fair fight if you will). Again this is how I feel.. I'm not trying to start a fight nor I want one, but I will state how I feel regardless of the ****heads on these forums.

PS: I did say that the winners for the contest can keep there prizes or whatever, I just FEEL, once the bug has been fixed to give the contest a fair shake.. Weather the players didn't it with out exploiting it or not.. it was still there and was found in due time. Weather or not they exploited it or not ( I could care less either way) it was still there.. they may have won without noticing it.. but I'm not argue over them winning, grats and hats off to them.

Not following you. The bug in no way affects a normal party setup, which BG used. This can only be exploited if you have a bunch of geared up BLM's, which this method was not used until a few days after first kill.

Right now without a fix, Garuda will still pop Astral Flow around 50% if you are not using BLM's to exploit it. BG beat it legit, there should be no contest again. I guess you are entitled to your "feelings"? But your feelings are simply wrong, I am sorry. BG worked like hell to get that first win, and they damn well deserve it.

Might want to use "opinion" instead of "feeling", kind of makes you sound too emotional. The only way your opinion would be valid is if BG used the exploit to get a first world kill. They didn't. They went through all phases of the fight without using any exploits. The contest was long over before people found the exploit, everything you say is just invalid. It isn't opinion(feelings in your terms), it is fact. There was no cheating or exploitation used in the contest. All it would be is SE giving the world first kill players a middle finger.
