Gotcha, thank you for explaining it to me.

This thread is hillarious, SE first announces the merge "OMG this sucks, you are ripping the community appart" SE says they made a mistake and changes it "Yay /happy this will do fine" come transfer day "RAGE!!!! I can't get on my server this merge idea is stupid SE should never listen to the community".
The majority of the community wanted this method, and to quote Spok, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" dont blame SE you can't go where you want to go, blame the community.
Easy to figure out, QQ'ers QQ for about everything. Even stuff they wanted in the first place. And there's a feature to search for the poster previous posts right next to his/her name... 2500 posts and you didn't figure this out yet? Geee...
Here for those who wonder how many servers were open on the server selection page when the link went up on lodestone.

I mean, if anyone is honestly pleased with how SE is handling this server transfer....
Stop being so pleased with sub-par management, and demand more. Because this is laughable, at the very least.
People do understand that the reason servers filled up so fast is that everyone was set up with a default server, right? The almost full servers probably only had < 500 slots between all of them (aside from ragnarok)... The point was with this type of server move 90% of people didn't want to move so 100% of the people are set to default, and if anyone cared to move they were able to.
I think if anything the character limit per server is just a tad too low to allow for much moving around.
I don't think a lot of our points (at least mine) are that the same people are complaining. But the people who are complaining now. Are the same ones that didn't speak up when SE asked us to. So they Generally had no Idea or understanding of what was really going on which is their own fault.
I do agree however this was a stupid choice. Inactive players should never come before active players. which is what the vocal community wanted and SE choose to do.
i think SE needs to see how many people join ragnarok over the next couple days and then reassess the numbers and maybe then open up limited spots on servers day by day for balance.
What about my friend that cannot apply, ill, duty,(blah blah blah)???..how dare SE separated us from my friend that currently take a break from this game!!! SE will only lose more subscriber if inactive one found themselves got tossed randomly around!!
well..something like that
No, I think SE should just leave it the way it is and not open up more slots. People wanted this and this is what they are getting. The original plan would have been fine. You keep all your active friends and lose the inactives.
Now... looks like people now not only will lose active friends and can only hope their inactive friends they were so boldly fighting for to get a fair chance to actually come back and play.
The Funniest Part about this, is that the Server Population Tracker is obviously broken and none of you seem to realize it..
If there were 5 "Full" servers and 5 "Not Full" servers and you dont magically have enough brand new accounts to fill the open servers, something is clearly not right.
SE's tracker is not removing Player count as Users change server.
How people forget, SE handled the server transfer as what most asked/screamed/yelled about they did what the majority wanted and now it's SE fault mmm. Watch this and many will say they never wanted this option for the merge.
I'm pleased with this. I don't care for a full reshuffle and having to choose a random 1-10 server, so by defaulting me to my current server I get what I want. I think this was what people wanted from the server move - to by default remain with the same pool of players they're currently with.
If you don't want that, you still have the option to move, your choices are just limited to one at this point.
I will agree, though, that there was obviously not enough room allowed on all of the servers for many people to move around, which apparently was desired.
Here you go bro!
Lodestone forum 101:
Click on the name of somebody who posted and in the new menu that open select "View Forum Posts". Selecting this option will automatically sort all the previous posts of the player. Then you can check if they're QQ'ing or not for something they wanted.
You don't care, I understand that, but 2500 posts, don't tell me you don't have the time to do that! :p
If i had to guess, I would say, they locked max players at a number lower than the total population to force the worlds to level out and will likely open more spots on a daily basis.
Either way this makes me laugh. Careful what you ask for.
Guys... chill out a little. As i say on my last post there is no way that all server are full on the same time if the amount of ppl don't increase. It must be a bug or a fail logic on the algorithm that calculate the amount of ppl. Wait for what SE will say about it.
The inactive characters don't count here. Why? I'm trowing some random numbers to make a point.
Lets start saying that every server have 1000 persons (active and inactive). SE for the merge add 1000 free slots on each server.
Then every server at the begging will have
Active + Inactive + Free
1000 + 1000 + 1000 = 3000 slots
That will mean that the between the 10 servers there are 20000 slots used and 10000 slots free. That amount can't change unless new ppl make an account and create a new character. If 1000 persons go to the lets said server 4, that will make that server full but will make the source servers open up the same amount of slots that characters leave them. So the balance of 2/3 overall must stay the same.
This is why i think the two next case are the most likely what are happening:
1. SE fuc'ked up the algorithm that calculate the space on each servers and its no taking account the amount of ppl that leave on each server.
2. A lot of ppl create an account and a character in the 2~3 hours that passed before the servers went full. (lol hard to believe).
So, again guys, chill out a little.
sure i have time, never said i didn't. But why would i use my time to prove someones point for them. if they want to prove that the same people complaining now are the ones that complained before then go ahead, why would i do the research.
you are like a retarded pitbull, something is wrong in your head and you have sunk your teeth into me for no reason.
OR you can just bump the Reassessing server merge topic. But I don't feel like doing that either.
Who said there will be 1000 or even ANY open slots at all? SE actually said "some servers will close immediately after the merge option is open". I also remember a post saying SE was aiming for 2000 people on a server (this includes inactive people). Not sure if that was official or not, can't seem to find it.
I think it is more like this (numbers are just to explain, not real numbers):
Rabanastre has 1000 people, 400 active, 600 inactive.
Cornelia has 990 people, 400 active, 590 inactive.
Durandal, has room for 2000 people, 1190 are taken by inactive people, 800 by active, 10 open spots left.
just to clarify what you are sayuing to others since you have posted it in a way which is not how it was intended
that 2000 active players, was not "2000 active players per server" it was "2000 active players during peak hours ONLINE"
so i think you totaly misunderstood what they were aiming for
People on Wutai and Gyshal will automatically be transfered to Masamune yes? We don't have to apply for it?
In response to both of these: both of these concepts are pure speculation. It will be nice if we can get an idea of how the server limits and character totals were determined, but until then both of these arguments are really pointless as we don't have any idea if either one is even close to the truth or not.
I said on the begging of the post that where random numbers that i came up to explain why is wrong that all servers are full... You should read a little before replying.
The open slots are the amount of ppl that can enter to the server before the limit is reached. There is no way that every server is on the limit after a few hours of allowing people move from one server to another, more if there is a new server that is totally empty.
It's the equivalent of an SE traffic jam, hope you brought a picnic because nobodies going anywhere.
Unless you want to go to Ragnarok
Right: "We'll move inactive players or players who don't partake in the transfer process to a random server after all is said and done."
Wrong: "Ok ok we were wrong, we'll leave everyone where they are so they can come back to their friends and linkshells in a year, by the way servers will fill up quickly with this option."
