So, how is Pagos?

I'm loving pagos. I enjoy self improvement so I'm always trying to push a bit more dps all while trying to make those key stuns on multiple targets. Tonight I will explore and find a decent camp for some honest grinding. Gotta get that power and that Ohat son.

What depth? Eureka is literally the most basic concept the developers could imagine. Reskinned trash mobs with absurdly large HP pools and zero mechanics. Wow, what depth and discovery! At least light and tome farming allowed for choice on the content you did. Yes, non-stop ARF spam was optimal, but it wasn't required. In Pagos, I have exactly one option: grind the same mob endlessly until a NM finally spawns over an hour later. The leveling would be fine if the content was actually appealing. It isn't. It's a pretty zone and nothing else. That's the equivalent of a pretty dungeon. Do those have depth? About the same amount Eureka does.

If you fancy it, fine. Enjoy it. Just accept a great number of people prefer than mindlessly spamming their rotation as they have to kill 400+ Blood Demons to finally be entertained by a NM spawn.

NM chain is still the most efficient XP builder in Pagos but SE has even managed to make it wasted time. The larger number of kills needed to spawn NM's and increasing the timer interval means you don't get as many opportunities to kill them for the better XP.

I've been to Pagos twice and am not sure I will go back. In fact I'm not sure I will stick around for 4.4 with the way 4.36 has turned out. I've emptied my house and unless SE makes an unlikely change in direction will let it demo and cancel my sub.

Yes well that probably cause Pagos is a slow boring grind which 14 isn't a slow game nor a slow grind we can do two to four dungeon runs at 69 to hit 70, so mimicking the worst aspect of XI the grind that even it nerfed itself is a stupid idea for this game not stuck in old old ways of classic MMOs.

That fun is already figured out we know how spawn almost all the NMs it's just that they're not feeling like spawning even with multiple groups slaughtering the mobs needed to spawn them.

What.. the other 2 Relics were much better simple because offered so much each step was almost completely different to last & the books/ dungeons/ Maps/ Light farms in various content, Pagos is literally just Anemos with everything over tuned. You had options far more then Eureka offers so far.

For some it may, some biggest complainers are probably those with 2hours maybe 3 hours play every other day people have lives/jobs & can't put in as much time as some others who maybe forgo socialising & put 5 - 10+ hours in.

It shouldn't be slow though, we're not starting from 1 which is what this feels like it feels like a far more larger grind then Anemos Week 1 felt & you're punished from the start for deaths instead say at reasonable level such as 26.. as for depth outside of bunnies it's a deep as a frozen puddle it's flat as f.. it's very much just nearly completely identical to Anemos. While I look forward with hope the lagos logos system is something amazing Eureka so far just doesn't feel great & hasn't changed.

They can polish and paint this turd anyway they want, but at the end of the day it's still crap.

My guess is that they were trying to discourage it... but the issue with that, is that they didn’t make the alternative worthwhile in any possible way. Chaining mobs still gives crap experience, and there’s zero reason to do them save for Challenge Logs. Though, the Light step they have incorporated has forced you to grind the mobs to get light; NMs give light as well, but I’m not sure if they’re RNG light like mobs can be (I’ve read reports of people getting light for a mob, the next three giving zero light, then getting light again for one or two, ad nauseam).

Either way, I am not satisfied. I want the relics, because they would make nice glamour. But, I also don’t know if it would even be worth it. And, sadly, I don’t have high hopes that future installments will be any different.

Do they? I was killing them with a party yesterday, and my challenge log for Ashkin/Bonekin did not increase. Killing the Demons that spawn Taxim counted, though.

I spent some time in Pagos today. So far it feels like Anemos but with the benefit of the Challenge Log already existing and the bunny FATEs which my instance ignored since they don't give exp.
I'm disappointed that SE didn't seem to do much to spice up the content from the first installment. Not even a new theme song.

Just like in the original Eureka zone I plan on hitting the level cap, upgrading my Bard Relic, and then never going back. Even mob grinding in XI is less tedious than Eureka these days thanks to all the exp boosters available.

I'm not sure if anybody said this yet or not so I'll be posting it anyways.

I think it's worth noting that the exp potion you get from the happy bunny chests is only a +3% boost in exp, which I think is just not really worth it.

The grind is very real, after spending 2 nights in there I managed to get to level 22 and have seen a total of 2 NMs. The stuff is incredibly tough, takes forever to span NMs and anything and everything that is 2 levels above you can very easily one shot you. I am struggling to keep my opinion from turning negative but I am not enjoying this version. I loved the previous Eureka, it was pretty and the NM train made it fun to hang out with people. This version... its literally a pain in my fingers and wrist. Due to the lack of NM mobs in there, I am also going to have to grind EX dungeons again as I cant cap my tomes fast enough. They also need to add levequests or daily challenge logs as the weekly logs are done in a single sitting. I do not see where they have spent all of the extra time working on this to make it more "fun". All I see is a ton more mobs, takes forever to spawn anything and stuff can murder you just by looking at you.

I'll give it a few more days but I am literally looking at the clock and not the game while I am in there which is a very bad sign.

This is the most boring content I have ever played.

And also at the end of the day, most people here will ultimately still end up playing Pagos. And the next one. And the next one. And the next one....

I was able to get through Anemos with minimal issue. Disliked being there, but it didn't feel to bad to progress. Pagos though... I don't like it at all. Not only is the beginning area just a bunch of white with a few green here and there, it's so unbelievably slow. Just being there mentally fatigues me, which happened in Anemos too, but it was tolerable. I just want out of Pagos after around half an hour, because I feel like i'm not progressing at all even if all i did during the whole lockout was kill mobs, which is basically all you can do anyway.

Something is seriously wrong with the dev team. There's no way they can look at Anemos, see the complaints, and then make Pagos exactly the same, but somehow worse at the same time. Sure, it can be that Pagos was too deep in development to change, but I rather take a delay (again) for good actual content than kill mobs in a different area.

I don't really consider the official forums a place where the devs read our comments and complaints. They can get enough of that when they play the content themselves on their private characters in the real game. I view the forums more of a self help / support group where we can complain among each other to help ourselves feel better. :)

Well, I suppose they will listen if a thread reaches 50,000 posts or something crazy like that in a few days or less. But I doubt we will get to levels such as that for this content. It would require something more like nerfing warriors to get a ground swell of such proportions.

Anyone know what the japanese playerbase thinks of pagos?

I really don't understand it.

Why do they make this content worse and worse? Eureka is not fun. It's not fun at low levels, it's not fun at high levels, it's not fun solo, it's not fun in a group.

It discourages playing it. And then they make the next step not only locked behind their current grindfest... but even more of the same, with even worse grinding time?

I'm loving pagos, it's something to do, long term based.

For those that are interested - there is a whopping total of 2 pages on the Japanese forums about Pagos. The only posts worth mentioning is that people seem to agree that Pagos is... too bright. And that the Happy Bunnies are stupid.

Something interesting to note is that while browsing other random pages in the thread, there seemed to be quite a few people who actually never liked Eureka in the first place. So much for the Japanese just being goo-goo gaga for mob grinding.

If you could pull the glitter off of your eyes that would be great. EVERYONE here knows exactly how anemos played out, and so far other than adding (seemingly pointless) bunny fates that give no exp it is playing out the same, only grindier. A lot of people want new relic weapons for glamour (or even general use) but it doesn't mean we enjoy the process. I made 8 anima weapons, Eureka has been a miserable experience.

Hopped in for another hour and 15 mins. 1 NM spawned the entire duration. I'm at 14% of a single level after grinding the same rotation on auto-attacking mobs for over a full hour.

Realized it's just for a glam weapon. Won't be going back there.

I find it really hard to get into the mood for it. Got to lvl 21 and I don't feel like going back. Which is terrible, because I want to go through the story for it.

I don’t need to complete Pagos to see that it’s a copy-paste of Anemos. With elements from prior relics (e.g., Light Farming) thrown in, and the aspects that made Anemos bearable (the NM Train) needlessly made more difficult.

I’m actually level 22. I gave Pagos two lockouts yesterday; all I got out of it was a sore wrist. Poor first impressions are difficult to change, and probably not the image SE wants to sell for their newest content.

I wish they'd do away with the entire level grind in eureka. It was ok for anemos. Instead of repeating anemos, Pagos should still been 20, but have tougher NM's. Build the relic quest around getting things off certain NMs and such. Could have added more interesting things to do in there in place of the level grind. I enjoyed anemos more once I got to level cap. I liked the zone, the danger in it, just wasn't much to do. The level grind is not fun, replace it with more interesting things to do and they'd have some half way decent content.

I just think it's hilarious that they doubled down on the grind and seemingly made NMs spawn much less often. I don't know what they're thinking with it, unless this is all we have to do until like November (which is possible).

I was really hyped for Pagos but after first day found it very boring and complete waste of time. I like the first eureka way better. At least there doesn't take no hour plus to spawn a single nm. If had to rate it 1 out of 10 I would give it a rating of 1.

I don't think it's so much the aspect of the grind itself as much as it's like...
The grind feels so rewardless

Day one I had the challenge log to do which was not terribly painful and saw a couple NM spawns to break up the nothingness

but then day two once that was gone... It was like spending 1.5-2 hour periods in there just killing mobs. Not seeing any NM's, no challenge logs to watch and complete, no loot dropping to go open up, no quests to follow and see. Just sitting in a little white patch killing the same thing over and over while the "NM train" was nearby fruitlessly trying to spawn a boss. Then when It's time to do something else, All i see is less than 10% of a single level and nothing else

It just feels bad doing it and leaves me feeling bad afterwards for doing it

For eureka content yeah it may be all we have until November if not October for the next zone. Before then we do have a major patch in mid September though for the usual content like MSQ and raid. November is also Vegas fan fest where the first details of the 2019 expansion will be revealed.

But did those people enjoy it, or simply do it for the rewards? From what I've seen, the majority fall into the latter. They begrudgingly did the content because they wanted their dyeable relic armor.

People were saying the exact same thing about Anemos, "you haven't even completed it yet, so you can't judge it." Well, they completed it, and guess what? Nothing about the content changed since their first impression. There was nothing new to discover. Everything was the same as the day they first entered.

I suppose the slow level grind doesn't seem as bad if you think of it as the replacement for the most severe parts of the zodiac/anima steps. Some of those grinds pre-nerf were extremely slow. The alternative to raid weapons has always been tedious stuff we grind begrudgingly since ARR. I think adding more interesting things to do within Eureka would probably mean sacrificing something from other parts of the game so they have more time to work on it, or longer waits between patches.

Is this what the game has come to?
Developers spending time on this type of mindless junk, instead of dealing with the slowdown in msq content.

Eureka series being multiple new instances to explore is a lot more dev resource heavy than the Anima series which added no new instances/battles, so that's the biggest something versus nothing comparison. Yoshida claimed that they increased resources put into the MSQ (that 4.1 Lakshmi battle at Ala Mhigo for example). I don't miss dungeons either.

Maybe the relics shouldn't be in battle content? Since I've been playing this game everyone complained about each step so far. If the combat is boring then maybe they should put it behind something else. Cause changing the combat is never going to happen. Eureka for example is something I think works better in an action combat game like Tera or monster hunter, where the combat is why you play it. Sadly xiv's combat isnt as deep as those too and making a zone nothing but a fight log isnt helping this game.

That's my thing I guess after thinking it over. I think if it wasnt battle content it'll been recieved better.

Predicting "the story" - you will get short cut scenes of odd aether/corrupted aether or something like that until the final installment. Probably flashback of Gulf and co being heroically killed off by Ascian ™ as final scene in Pagos. Tsunjika will eventually get into trouble near the end and Krile will save him with the two getting in better terms before they part ways. The sealed thing will be probably the Ascian we saw in first cutscenes or something Allagan ™ that the Ascians wanted. At the end it will be destroyed or left sealed by Krile and Tsunjika holding hands forward with magical beam of aether coming out. We get a thank you and we'll go our merry way.

I really hope I'm wrong and there will be something more engaging and interesting in the story but if the effort they put into designing the battle content mirrors the story content, I'm not going to hold my breath for finding out whatever happened to the isle of Val.

It's a grindy grind. Smart people will wait until it is nerfed and has an actual fate train. Smarter people aren't even subbed to this game.

Quick question (none of my characters actually can get into Pagos so I don't know the answer myself), I assume were upgrading our existing weapons in pagos and are we upgrading are armor again too? (if so is it a different style) Or are we just getting accessories and weapons?

Considering Eureka is supposed to be a highlight of Stormblood, it'd be a smarter investment to shelve something else and make it better than the disaster we currently have.

Dunno how others do be it but I struggled to find groups, eventually starting one myself. When not in a group getting a res was very difficult. 3 times I died solo and 3 times I almost ran out of time before some kind soul heard my cry for help. Third was just lucky as it was at lvl 21 location so someone doing quest came and raised me as a side content lol compared to anemos which was super friendly and fun to an extent...this seems very unaccommodating and people less willing to help. Might be different after patch day but I'll leave it a few days as risk of being killed and losing xp is too high atm

Same thought about "less-friensly". I went there and saw someone LFM, I sent him/her a tell. It was a LV 25 group, so I was about to type "sorry, I am too low, I will leave now" and got kicked without a word before I can press enter. :( At least say something like in Anemos.
