If you don't expect mentors to carry you through Byakko EX you shouldn't expect mentors to carry you through Sephirot EX.
If you don't expect mentors to carry you through Byakko EX you shouldn't expect mentors to carry you through Sephirot EX.
Please provide solid proof this is the roulette's intended purpose. The only declared intent for Mentor roulette is to be like any other roulette and that is to fill queues, in this case specifically ones whose queues haven't popped in a while. That's paraphrasing from the patch notes the roulette was introduced in. Anything else is people's inflated expectations. You can be a Mentor well off enough without having the roulette unlocked, further supporting the roulette's detachment from that part of the mentor's role. And you know what? Yeah, telling someone "this content isn't meant to be pugged, watch a video and put together a PF that won't disband after the first half-a wipe" is sadly pretty solid advice, no matter how much people frown on it. I don't bail on an ex trial unless others have and it seems like we won't be filling, but most of the extreme trials I was in as part of the mentor roulette did not end in success, and not because of a lack of effort on the part of the mentors who braved through it. So when the sprouts are the ones to initiate the vote abandon after the mentor explained things thrice, who's in the wrong here? Difference is, if you have a PF you can just go back in there after the timer ran out or someone's gear broke. Pugs? Less so.
Funny, looks like a pretty even divide to me.Quote:
Because the answer is obvious....to most people at least.
This is stupid... there's a huge ass thread about the general player base needing to get better and yet people are calling to remove content that can help players get better? You're a mentor... you chose to be a mentor... suck it up or drop the crown... I think any mentor who abandons a duty or initiates a disband during a mentor roulette should be stripped of mentorship status
People routinely fail Ifrit Ex, Ramuh Ex, Leviathan Ex, Thordan Ex, Sophia Ex, Sephirot Ex, Nidhogg Ex, UNSYNCED. I'm not painting them as incompetent. I'm saying Extreme Content wasn't designed for the casual playerbase, that is factually accurate.
Heck, there are people who still get knocked off of Titan Hard mode, who can't beat the Sanuwa (sp) Snakes in Bismark Normal due to bad dps.
Such people will ALWAYS exist, but either A. you have terrible luck or B. you are overreacting, therefore over exaggerating a bit. I'd say it's combination of the 2. Midcore content is what Ex primals are, so the average player may struggle a bit. That doesn't mean they need to be removed from a roulette. That means that when you queue for Mentor Roulette, you are to be a mentor. Help people, for better or worse. A good many people are willing and able to learn. Some just learn at different speeds. Don't like it? Don't queue for Mentor Roulette or join random groups via PF.
Why are people acting like these noobs are using the mentor roulette to queue up for primals? This isn't a noob/ bad player issue... it's a mentor issue... it's not like these primals are in any other roulette... people you're stuck in a party with want to be there and complete the trial... the only ones complaining are a few "mentors" who feel they should just get the easy stuff and never have to actually mentor anyone
Would you be willing to teach someone in Shinryu EX or Byakko EX or O5S how their job works at a base level? Because its expected that one understands their job when going into endgame content. I am all for teaching fights as a mentor. I am not going to teach people their jobs in endgame content. This is the issue we have. Not that people aren't learning EX mechanics instantly, that they don't understand their own jobs and are in EX fights.
I feel you are latching too much on "Mentors wanting easy content, or mentors not wanting to teach".
This isn't a mentor roulette issue... this is an issue with players not learning how jobs work... again NOT a reason to remove ex primals from mentor roulette.... the reward from doing mentor is so tiny just skip it if you can't handle an ex primal pug...
A lot of people arent owning up that they were carried in ex clear for friends and they are actually awful at the EX fights themselves. Its one of the main reasons mentors leave the fights. It has very little to do with the new players not wanting to learn. Its new content to them and obviously if they are useing DF fro an EX they clearly want to try and do the fight.
Its a big problem these days if SE have to throw out more and more reward to get older players to help new players.
Many don't remember mechanics from 4 years ago if they didn't do it every day.
That's the issue. On any given day, there are countless learning parties on the PF for EX content. I've helped many get clears. There is really zero reason other than difficulty to do ARR/HW Extreme content at ilvl other than challenge. And if that's what you're after, find like minded people to do that with.
