Its absurd that something that has been figured out for years is causing such a fuss..
SE.. ditch the totems/charms, allow pass from loot, leave the drop rates... DONE
what irks me is, the devs knew very well what they were doing when they decided not to allow loot pass.. and then when people complain- the devs act surprised.. pull the other one yoshi! its blatent way of buying time between patchs... at least be honest
why else would they change it up after darkhold drops went to loot list.. they had it right, no one said a single word in complaint!
and all you white knights are suckers.
They need to fix the loot system its sooo poor. ATM: They should reduce the totem/nut to purchase weapons from NPC especially since content is now old and I know most people that have got to 20-Kupo Nut Charms end up getting their last weapon from him around that time. Suggestion: reduce Ifrit to 5 totems and Moogles to 10 nuts; increase drop rates. I have done steady LS event runs where we go a long time with no drops, not even Kup Nut Charms. I don't see SE doing nothing in regards to this...
People still do Ifrit?
Full LS: "7/7" 2 months ago.
Another bagel trollolol?
Yep I completely agree. I only have one Ifrit win to my name. It took me that long to realize getting Ifrit weapons would be a huge HUGE waste of my time and I have better things to do with my life like triple-meld something that's better anyway.
Until they fix this crap, I'll just stay away.
I don't mind having to do it a bunch of times or it being hard, but the randomness of it means I could invest days of work and literally have nothing to show for it {No Thanks}
I thought like Quesse too for a bit, but then I realized the damage stat on the Ifrit weapon is more important than any materia that could be affixed to it.
It depends on the weapon though, the gla/pld sword isn't that much stronger than a winglet +1 which you can affix useful stuff to, same with the ifrit bow vs. crab bow. others however, like the gaxe and lance, are fantastic jumps in base damage.
Same thoughts here, I have about 35+ wins at Ifrit (or something like that) and only 5 totems. Count with that the defeats, it is A LOT of time spent on getting dark matter G5... the run is not even fun anymore because of the frustration of the random drop. Oh sure, the Ifrit is fun content to battle! However, I am at the point now that I WANT a weapon, I'm going to tackle newer content instead of wasting my time on Ifrit. Same for Moogle, I'll keep at it until I win, but not much more than that unless they fix the drop rates.
The devs and Yoshi-P are great persons, but I'm not sure they took the right path with the drops.
As it was said previously, even with 100% totem/nut drop rate for every single player, it would still take at 10/20 WINS a single weapon. It would be both rewarding (you see progression) and make it hard on the players to gather every single Primal weapons (btw, 20 wins for 1 weapon is a MAXIMUM too!).
Not sure if they've changed the drop rate or anything for the latest patch. I just started playing 14 days ago and have managed to get my THM/BLM and PGL/MNK to 50. I've killed Ifrit 8 times now and have gotten the Claws, and 2 totems. From what other people are saying these are supposed to have a ridiculously low drop rate? I've seen 3 other people get weapons and 5 other totems drop for other people in my 8 kills. It really doesn't seem that bad for such an easy fight.
I think its better to make totems drop 100% for each member in party for each win or increase drop rates for weapons n put em in loot so party members can pass it to others who need weapon .
Today one of my party member got Ifrits bow & didn't need it :( which i needed but were unable to pass it to me , its just a pointless system  .
kill it at full moon phase
/throwing random myth
I think at least 1 totem drops for the party 100% now? We ran Ifrit quite a bit the past 2 weekends for 2 people in our LS and it seemed to be the case.
I posted a little idea in my blog a while back <3
Condensed version:
-Allow Primal loot to go into the loot list for a ONCE OFF ability to give to another (Inside the instance only)
-Introduce a feature where we can trade in unwanted Primal weapons to the designated NPC for totems/nuts or other needed items for future primals. The given amount of items will not equal to anymore then a third the cost to get a new weapon of the same type and higher costing weapons will never have a value more then the original.
Eg. Trade in Ifrit's Lance = 3 Inferno Totems OR 3 Kupo Nuts
Trade in Malignant Mogaxe = 3 Inferno Totems OR 6 Kupo Nuts
This way you can not hope to farm 'easier' primal weapons solely for trade in BUT it will keep the community interested in old primals (and helping those who want old primal items). The interest will remain because even if you do gain a Primal weapon you did not want, you can trade it in for a small amount of another primal's tokens.
I don't think the idea is bad at all- but Would you be playing if it was 100% drop?? after the update?? I mean come on- if it was 100% drop... you'd quit this game 1 week after you get all your ifrit weapons... w T do you want to do after you get all your ifrit weapon? nothing???
Get rid of nuts/totems thats sooo lame...
100% drop per group into loot pool. So at least one person gets a weapon everytime you go in. Give it a lock out if you want. 24 hours 8 hours 3 days it doesnt matter.
****WARNING FFXI REFERENCE*****
You couldn't do Proto-Ultima/Omega but maybe once a week or every two weeks. You were guaranteed loot though. Sky gods you would have to farm for it but you were almost guranteed some loot. The way moogle was with the NM's and what not was totally fine, IF it had a 100% drop.
1 chest per group 1 weapon and into a loot pool that be can be distributed with some sort of lock out that prevents spamming/farming incessantly.
/thread
any of these 2 I be happy with, im tired of leading a group in and a random stragler gets 4 weapons while the static that I been running with for Weeks got nothing...
Increase the drop rate, or at least make the charm or totem 100% as someone already mentioned even then just for one weapon you need do ifrit five times our moogle 10 times.... And I think it's fair to get something for 10 runs/ 5 runs. Or just leave the 10 change rate. But make it 100% drop rate.
Totem and Nut Charm drop rates are absurd. One should drop in your inventory for every win.
I remember a person in my LS saying that SE should not over-extend the lifespan of content with horrible drop rates. He's absolutely right.
If i may i think the RNG loot drop for specific items is old news. If i may here is a type of system i prefer so i'll repost it. (fair warning when i give constructive posts threads die :)
As cool as it is to get the weapon drop from the boss. with the armory system the way it is and folks getting say x amount of swords in a row before they ever see say the Lance they actually want i really wonder if there is an optimal system.
So i'll throw my suggestion out there!
Instead of the full weapon being dropped, drop a universal base item, lets call it Ifrit's Molten Horn.
So you beat down Ifrit, and the Molten horn drops and you get it. Awesome, now what?
Behind Ifrit theres some sort of ather filled molten pool. take the Molten Hron to the pool, and choose your desired weapon. Say you want a lance. Horn plus pool equals the lance you chose.
(you now have a system where folks are still going for a drop rate. but atleast they can be rewarded the first time with the weapon they really wanted!)
Now as an optional part of this system. Have drop rate "success" measure per person. For every Molten Horn you've gotten your drop rate chance lowers by a perdetermined percentage. (To a set minimum. dont want folks ending up with a 0.0000001 drop rate. that would be aweful)
If we throw out a number say No horns recived and transformed = 30% you could take 3% off your chance. so by the time your going for the 7th weapon (currently 7 DOW/DOM classes) your at round 9% chance. (Also with being able to make materia out of Moogle and ifrit items might have to stick with Horns recived with a set minimum drop rate)
What this accomplishes: Folks who are only running Ifrit for 1 class'es weapon don't have to spend as many runs to get it as those who want all 7. But it also means you have to descide which you want most and least and how many times your willing to run for how many Classes.
Depending on the starting % (no weapons) and the ending percentage (6 weapons?) owned you might be able to drop the token system and not have to worry about 2 Drop rates to balance.
This way you get more of a Scaled reward system by how many runs you want to do vs how many weapons you want.
Those who want all will run it more. those who want one or two for their favorite classes can run a bit less. And everyone atleast gets the one they wanted in the first place!
Honestly, we all have a favorite class we want our best stuff for. would be nice to choose on the spot instead of Your buddy wants a sword, you want a lance, and you get a sword you didnt want. now your semi disappointed and so is your buddy. that isnt the feeling anyone should have when you take down a big bad boss.
What you want after downing any big boss is either "Darn maybe next time" or " Yes i got (Can get) something i always wanted!"
Thats how i feel. Let us make smart choices with a base reward we can change into what we REALLY went there for in the first place! (Not to mention if folks get a reward they wanted i belive they would be more likely to run it again with some other people, because they will remember a more positive or neutral feeling as apposed to varied negative feelings and then a positive one here and there.
Add Totem/kupo nuts as a reward from the primal quests keep them as a drop in chests at the current rate. Can increase number needed if you want but least this way your always working towards a weapon and the totem/charm out of the chests are bonuses towards that. Seems like a simple fix that address problems people have will doing 30+ runs without getting a single drop or what they want.
While I think the droprate is a bit silly, I think it's even sillier that people practically want these high-end weapons handed to them on a silver platter. Baby mode {Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.}
Have there been any news concerning this lately? We did Ifrit today about 10-12 times and we had 2 weapon drops,
both for people that didnt need them. This loot system seems a bit stupid and extremely time consuming.
I support the idea of 100% totem drop for everyone, untradeable and 10 totems needed for a weapon.
That would at least give a sense of progression.
1/31 on Ifrit Weapons
8/31 on Totems
Oh well. Ifrit is easy as all hell. It should be a low drop rate. ^^
I'm gonna farm iffy until my Ifrit undergarments drop.
srsly tho, I want my undies ><
I got lucky and was able to get the majority of my weapons as drops.
I feel bad for my new friends from my new linkshell. It's a social linkshell but they do content like Ifrit and Moogle pretty frequently and the majority of them haven't even gotten a drop of anything, weapon or totem/nut. They REALLY need to up the drop rate so these other people can actually get some of this before it goes away in 2.0. I know we don't know for sure on that but still.... we have enough endgame content now, upping the drop rate will not make people leave.
