Is the Duty Finder working as it should?

Seriously? Waiting for over than hour for a roulette to pop does not constitute as a matching issue? Not to mention that the patch notes explicitly stated that matching algorithms were adjusted for faster queue times? Am I being played like a puppet here? Like DPS waiting for over an hour or two isn't enough of an irregularity? Pardon my language, but that is bullshit. Queues haven't been this long whenever I played as a DPS. On average, I just had to wait 8-15 minutes, or half an hour at most. Right now, I'm waiting 85+ minutes for my levelling roulette to pop and I'm going to give up and forget about my challenge log rewards because it'd be quicker for me to get 130 esoteric tomes and kill my daily Centurio marks than to waste time doing jack squat.

My FC group sat in DF with 1 tank (me) and 5 dps for void ark this evening. As soon as I dropped group and it was a 5 dps queue, instant pop. It seems a bit odd that the matching algorithms wouldn't be able to find 2 healers without a group in an hour, but could find 2 healers and a tank.

What a joke blatantly lying to our faces. How can you say queue times have increased yet there are no issues... Were they high or drunk maybe both.

Tanks will have slowest queue for Void Ark unless full party/alliance. It'll get better over time, but solo queuing as tank will always be slowest. Or a death wish I guess.

You also have to consider during the early days and even weeks of major updates many will queue pre-made as much as possible for better results. FCs been waiting for quite awhile to do more content together.

Then you have the wealth of content now that give esoteric tomes. Dungeons? Only did each instance as a newbie once and two EX roulettes last week and that was it, capped from everything else. Stopped queuing after Thursday.

Earlier in the week I sat in the expert roulette queue as a healer for 2 hours with no pop. I dropped and re-queued with the two expert dungeons manually selected, and got an instance in a matter of seconds. Numerous people have posted similar experiences around the internet, and in this very thread. I've been playing since launch, and I've never had queues this bad for anything.

Add to that, we're coming off a patch which claims "The matching algorithm for Duty Roulette has been adjusted to reduce wait times", and suddenly people are having this kind of issue? You'll forgive me if I don't buy the argument that everything is working the way it always has, and I'm just not understanding the circumstances. It's honestly a little baffling that people like Tadacho can even go so far as to completely disregard the experiences of the people having these issues, and posts like this one, as well-intentioned as they may be, carry that same, if less obnoxious, feel of hand-waving the problems away. To say nothing of the fact that the only SE response to this whole issue is to say that there is no issue, it should be self explanatory why someone being affected won't take kindly to more of the same.

I'm almost an hour into a PVP queue solo where the avg time is 15 min...

Maybe it's got something specific with the NA servers. I have no problems doing any DF related activities in Chocobo. Maybe there's just a lack of people doing content? After all, most the peope AFK in Gilgamesh, like log in right after maint and afk...

It's more along the lines of having a variety of content available this go around to get Eso tomes. Void Ark, Alex NM and Savage, PvP, Diadem, not to mention hunts being active again. Dependency on running dungeon roulettes is becoming much less now, especially towards the end of the reset. We've always been doing full pre-mades for roulettes since the patch, so I guess I'm part of the "problem" of these queue times?

I guess literally everyone on primal data center decided to stop leveling classes past 50 and use roulettes in that equation too, then since I get queues of several hours to get into leveling roulette for the past few days. And I got in just fine last Tuesday with relatively normal times, when everyone was zerging Diadem, Void Ark, and the other things you incorrectly attribute these times to.

OK, my experience since 3.1 as a heal playing after work hours (7:00-10:00 pm) on the Chaos server is that my queue times have either tripled or quadrupled; actually I've never had to queue 45-60 mins for a roulette before, which I do now.
The only reason I'm running a heal is because it allows me to cap my weekly things in a timely manner after work, I simply can't do this anymore.
Yesterday we went in dark void, we were full 3 parties so that was fine, but then we decided to make another run at 7/8 missing a deeps, gave up after 45 minutes queuing on reset day at 8:15 pm. As a result I got 20 eso yesterday.
If this is working as intended I simply do not have the time to cap eso since the patch due to not being able to play more than a couple of hours a day during the week, nor run a roulette on my deeps to actually have some fun. So unless you double the eso tomes given by 60/ex or revert/fix the roulette, I simply can't be bothered queuing 2 hours a day on a class I don't really enjoy to run 1 dungeon a day. At this point I'm considering playing other things until there are alternatives to capping tomes that don't involve queuing for an hour each.

I have no problem getting into anything but void arc. I sit and wait on my Tank for over 30+ min and have yet to get into yet. After 45min on Monday full raid formed and sit at reserving instance for another 20min and had to leave. If duty finder is not broke instance maybe?

Going in with a buddy is currently the solution, since for whatever reason groups are jumping ahead in line.

Last night I queued for an ex roulette as bard with a friend who was on paladin. We had an instant queue.

We then queued for the new 50 dungeon roulette, with me on machinist on him on WAR. We had an instant queue.

Last time I did Void Ark, I went with a DPS buddy. We got in in about 4 minutes.

I then queued for a leveling roulette as MCH with no tank (since you have to do that solo.) 30 minute wait, about normal for leveling roulette on DPS.

Queuing for trials roulette on MCH solo got me in in 5 minutes.

A reminder to everyone who is experiencing abnormally long wait times for ex roulette - are you set for multiple languages, or just English? Flag that you're willing to play with all languages if you have to queue solo.

And buddy up for everything that you can, since it's clear to me that groups are skipping to the front of the line. For tanks, queuing with a DPS friend is your best bet.

This is me as well. I didn't cap ESO's last week because of the queue, and I managed to get 50 yesterday by getting into a Diadem group and an Alex run, that's all I managed to do as far as queues in 3 hours.

Yesterday, the queues seemed back to normal, today, back to stupid long wait times.

This is probably due to the fact that there were more people trying to do their roulettes, which reduced the issue a little. Now that everyone has figured out that its not fixed, its back to being basically worthless to queue for certain roulettes.

And the only response we have from SE is that 'though wait times have increased, roulettes are working as intended'. *rolls eyes* What a bunch of crap. Not all of us have hours to sit there and do nothing while waiting on your currently broken DF system.

This is just SE pulling the old limited number of active instance like they did back in release, where you had a group ready but had to wait 1 to 2h for a dungeon slot to open.
The new DR/DF is pretty much that, it limit the number of active instance for some unknown reason, apparently they put a new algorithm for it but guess shit broken.

When you get the "reserving instance" message, that's what it means. But a 2+ hour queue to fill the party members has nothing to do with limited instances, and everything to do with a broken matching algorithm.

I've sat on "reserving instance" for 5-10 minutes in previous patch cycles, but have not seen it here yet.

I think what is irritating me the most about these increased wait times is wondering why some people are apparently getting to skip ahead in the queue. When it is giving an "average" wait time of 5-15 min and you are sitting there looking at 72 min in queue it just does not add up.

I have had this issue, specifically with Ex Roulette, since this new patch dropped. I always queue as a healer, because I don't have a ton of time to play and appreciate the normally brief queues. However, since the patch those queues have been upwards of 30-45 minutes and longer. Queue for arboretum or PS hard by themselves? Quick pops.
I have not experienced any issues using Trial Roulette or Guildhest Roulette. No issues with Void Ark (though I've been queuing as a DPS, but its still be pretty fast). I have ONLY had this issue with Ex Roulette. (Obviously, this is in addition to the display bug.)

Two more examples of GROUPS CUTTING THE LINE today:

Ex roulette with 3 people: Instant
Void Ark with 4 people - 2 DPS, a healer, and a tank - About 30 seconds

Hypothesis: The groups cutting in line are getting factored into the "average wait time" which is why the averages are so inaccurate. Plus, they're delaying the solo players.

I think you're failing to understand how it works, parties that go in (almost) premade aren't delaying the solo players, they're helping a solo player get in. They grouped as a party, the game isn't going to split them up to meet your needs, so what does it do? It puts them in their own party, and grabs a tank/healer/dps into that party with them, instead of having that solo player wait around for their party to fill from scratch.

At the very least, the queue seems to definitely be bugged. I got into a Void Ark instantly as a DPS earlier today, yet when I queued up again right after the previous run finished, the queue ran up to 75 minutes before I gave up since I had to leave. It was labelled the usual "Less than 5 min" as well.

I'm sorry Square Enix and defenders, but no. Something is wrong with the queue.

Im having the same issues with duty finder. I don't understand how lv50 roulette takes 35mins as dps, but if I queue for just 1 lv50 dungeon from the list I queue in 12 mins. Shouldn't having a wider selection to join be less than for a specific dungeon?

Now every time i queue the second one loads I someone instantly leaves and I'm put in a perma queue again.

The issues everyone is reporting in the duty finder with roulettes has so far ONLY applies to people queuing solo, though. I've yet to see anyone reporting the 2+ hour times have more than just themselves in the queue, regardless of their jobs. 2 DPS get into Void Ark in 4 minutes. A tank, a healer, and a DPS get into Void Ark in 1 minute. A healer alone waits an hour.

I also have been experiencing issues with the df.
I queue for an expert dungeon individually it pretty much insta pops, then when I queue for Ex Roulette I get stuck waiting for a long time.
Then there are the Void Ark tank queues.

Overall I am of the opinion that the df queuing system is broken now. The game has become nearly unplayable for me in regards to instanced content as I spend all my limited playtime waiting in a queue to just end up having to log off without ever having gotten in. I have never had issues like this since the launch of 2.0, so something obviously changed and not for the better.

3 dps, took 30+ mins last night. I think that was just bad luck though. It was prime time and dps average was less than 5.. I probably should've switched to a healer. The worst part was the alliance was fairly miserable, so we had several wipes and really low dps. I think it took around an hour?

Tried several times to queue as tank, 2 healers and 3+ dps but haven't had a pop yet.

not only have I been having the DF 0 in queue break (bug, whatnot) which causes me and whoever I'm queued with to withdraw and reque, usually cycling through party members are lead/doing the que and STILL taking 20+ min for a healer/dps to que into anything level 60 but solo queueing is a nightmare. I sat in a leveling que on my alt's ast (42) for 2 hours with AN AVERAGE WAIT OF 5m. between queue times being massively worse in my experience of 3.1, and the DF claiming 0 people are queued. . . SE, please fix this.

I am on Chaos datacenter and I've been having the same problems everyone is noticing. Not only one time, but everyday on different hours of the day, early morning, midday, prime time, etc. The problem I have with this is that it is killing the game for me, I can no longer cap esoterics in the week, since I cannot play to long in a day. Used to be that you if you played an hour and a half I could do 2 - 3 dungeons, but now I'm lucky if I get to do 1. BTW Minute 55 of waiting as solo healer for Void Ark 3 AM server time at time of typing. Please fix this, I love this game and I can't do anything I like to do.

I believe we got the "Reserving Instance" problems again, due to high volumes of instances created they max out available slots and people need to wait for a slot to open in order to make their "new" instance.

Yesterday i queued with tank and was waiting on a full group for 10 minutes for "reserving instance". I assume the problem is even bigger with Healers and DPS

My Void Ark queues have been 45mins+ even at prime time. I can't do dungeons anymore because I only get about an hour to an hour and a half (if lucky) to play undisturbed. (Have a young baby who wakes for feeds still.) Waaaah. Been crafting/gathering instead but I miss my WHM.

I qued for over an hour as low lvl dps in roulette today wtf. I mean u cant even get ure choco out to farm hunters log. Lvl 35 75 mins and nopop. I think servers cant handle there five million subscribers :)

Also noticing it's extremely slow, but ONLY as solo queue. Queuing with someone else seems normal...

Okay, so I'm not the only one who saw this pattern.

Getting constant 0/?? numbers for any sort of queue, roulette, regular dungeon, Diadem, and both as solo and with a group, and it's ridiculous when added on to the long wait times we're now getting.

I know SE has stated that the queue showing 0 members doesn't actually affect the grouping, but with wait times becoming as bad as they are and the queue not usually even showing how many (if any) are in queue, I'm starting to find that hard to believe. I wish they would at least fix that display bug so I could at least see if a group is actually getting filled out.

No... the symptom for that would be we would be showing a full party has formed and it is now reserving the instance. That is a separate phase of the process.

The prblem is that it is taking forever and a day to match up the party members before it can move on to the next phase.
