That's true, but Follow Through's between double Victimize CD totals to about 600dmg at least, so it's about even.

Baum Rorschach of Rabanastre and his shell, Avalon/No Plan, have taken out Ifrit~
Might be world 3rd? I haven't been following JP shells' progress.
Bow drop, HNNNNNG.
Seems like more shells picking up on this. Just saw Fuji Mountain from FUJIYAMA on Lindblum got the Bow.

Lol, notice how important Archers are.
Poor Archer
Have any of you noticed any benefit to using manaflight (magic resist) materia for the Ifrit fight?
Zdenka I have a question about Lancer weapons and maybe you have the answer. I have been debating for a while now which weapon to use and to put materia in.
Champions Lance: Base Damage 133 Attack+23
Hart Guisarme: Base Damage 135 Attack+15
The guisarme has 2 more base damage, but 8 less attack. If I equip them, with Champions Lance I have 504 Attack, with Hart Guisarme 496. The difference comes from the higher Attack+ value on Champion's Lance.
So my question is, where does the extra 2 base damage from Hart Guisarme come in. @.@?
From my observation earlier 1 attack = 2 damage, 1 DMG = 8-9 damage therefor 1 DMG = 4 attack or so.
8 attack vs 2 damage = SAME
I think the Hart would perform better though, I think DMG has more profound effect than I just stated however such as raising doing what STR and Attack both do at the same time.
lol wiped at about 2%, one chaos thrust from winning :3 So close
Congrats to Semper Fidelis of Rabanastre for their first kill!
Kill #30, over the hill. Battleaxe drops to my R33 MRD :D
Lance Dropped.

151 damage 3.8 delay
Whoever said taking all four nails out stopped hellfire was wrong. Kill one nail take 1100ish with sentinel, kill all 4 take 700 with sentinel.
Hmm its not 154? thought I saw that somewhere. That means a +3 Hart Guisarme with 1 attack materia (or STR materia) is better.
+2 is 145? Needs only a 25+ attack materia to be better or so, +30 garuntee equal or better. I think it falls in line with SE"s plan tho.
CONGRATULATIONS FIRST BLACK PLAYER TO BEAT IFRIT
MIOKO LOCKHEART
Is sentinel II really "REQUIRE" to survive hellfire?
Grats guys and no one better tell me this method. I have my own and I don't want to know..lol.. More fun that way. :)
This fight is amazingly hard I love it. Though must of the difficulty results in not being able to move when doing a weaponskill or casting and then having eruption explode you. ; ;
It is really just a waiting game. For DDs I find the best method is to just do light damage to ifrit and build my TP to 3000, then when the eruption happens I move out of the way and then buff up so i can immediately do a weaponskill once there is an opening. If invigorate is up and I am confident I can get the 3000 tp back within the next few seconds I will throw out another weapon skill. Doing this I can avoid eruption upwards of 90%, and the times I do get hit is when I am being stupid and trying to take a risk by throwing out that one last weapon skill when I know it could use eruption at any moment. Obviously this is much more difficult for mages, and it slows down damage quite a bit compared to just trying to burn it down as quickly as possible, but if everyone in the party is more than likely going to die trying to that damage then it doesnt matter all that much anyways.
Yeah we have it down to waiting for eruption although there are some slip ups sometimes lol. All in all I'm loving this, and can't wait for the next primal~
We're also able to get past hellfire, and we're getting better at grouping up after it happens now. Our best try was getting him to about 15%
No, you can stop Hellfire from going off by sticking Pacification on Ifrit, or you can kill more than one of the nails in Phase 4 to lower the damage, etc. It's not REQUIRED, but it's probably the easiest and most mana/time/Ifrit DPS-efficient way.
Fire Veil really doesn't do a whole lot, but every little bit helps I suppose. I believe the damage cut is 1:1, so if you've got a ridiculously high Fire Veil it would be nice. But really you're better off getting your party to the point where they just don't get hit by sear all the time, and are able to dodge the abilities.
Welp beat it 1st attempt today, PUG weapon tosomeone w/o PUG hurray!
Congrats on overcoming multiple clunky game bugs/mechanics to kill a fairly straightforward boss.
It's just a shame that this fight is more about figuring out how to make the awful game not cock block you from actually fighting the boss and enjoying the mechanics of the fight.
Killed ifrit, all he did was use earthquake move on mages every time he could -_-
Any updates? Would love to hear your tips and tricks. :)
placeholder strats for the time being. we'll have a pretty large surprise/update in store for the end of November so look forward to seeing some cool stuff then ^^

Well, once you're got the basic battle down, you can do more advanced stuff like punishing barbs when he does hellfire in order to get that extra bit of damage.
That's kind of hard for some people to do, however, so this might be a better solution:
When Ifrit is down to his last 5% or so, all the DDs might as well just stand where the tank is and pop punishing barbs since the Ifrit's AOE cleave will hit all of you, as well as the AOE sear, and Incinerate, etc.
Little things that make the fight go faster or smoother:
- Sentinel any time before nails pop for more DPS uptime
- Tank or lowest-DPS melee performing Comrade in Arms II to increase everyone's DPS
- Slow rotation on Ifrit if you have 3 or more mages
- Pre-buffing WSs during Crimson Cyclone
- Buffing everyone, eating food, etc., before entering the Bowl and engaging immediately upon loading in
