I haven't seen anyone breakdown Monk weights like Dervy has for Dragoon so without knowing exact statweights it would be hard to say. Black Truffle HQ still shouldnt be bad. With most of the new HW food we don't have the gearstats to max out the HQ versions of the food right now.
You don't need a lot of SS to use fracture. I have 534, You just have to make sure you don't apply it in the same cycle as Touch of Death.
Don't try and keep it up 100% of the time though, its a TP loss skill.
Dps gain but TP loss.
I've been using Deep Fried Okeanis, or Morel Salad. DFO gives SkS, VIT, DET; Morel gives DET, VIT, SkS
I remember when I told you guys I was using fracture a lot. Not just Zamii said I was wrong, couple of you others in here too. Funny how things change. Either way glad you guys are seeing why I use it. Two things I look for when you using fracture. Is demo 4-5secs left and is ToD at 10+ seconds, if the answer to both is yes, fracture. That is about the only time I use it, no reason to over use fracture and suffer TP lose or rotational errors.
Yeah, its still tight on TP. Fracture needs to be managed well to maintain TP and dps.
I brought this up in the old thread, but I ended up answering it myself:
Black Truffle Risotto
You can't cap with any of the new food. HQ will put you a few points over 2.0 food, but our relationship to 3.0 food is very similar to how the 2-star 2.0 foods were at ARR launch. Wait for raid gear stat weights before even considering DET/SS/CHR food (but the new ACC food, grilled sweetfish, is super cheap and super effective if you need ACC).
Update 21/7: Fracture in rotation. Fixed Alex F1 saving GL. (currently not possible since downtime too long. Please if you can save gl here let me know, I tried applying demo/sp just before boss jump but still lose GL)
PS @ Hakmatic
I quoted you in the update. I just find it very good rule to apply when using fracture. If you don't like it please let me know and I will take it down. I also added a simple way when to use fracture in rotation.
That's fine, you should just use the part about the timers, not use the stuff I said before that lol. So start it from; Two things I look for...
i just use the dragon kick timer as my indicator when i get around to opo-opo form, if dragon kick has 3-4 seconds left, apply fracture there.
its in a slightly different place i think to how hak does it, but the end result is the same, just feels easier watching only 1 timer instead of 2
so i looked over the main post, and i noticed a couple things.
first, is the the floor 1 wasn't actually changed to represent the greased lightning timings thing, it was only in the date updates.
second, is the floor 3 tips, dark knight doesn't have method of keeping themselves in place like paladin and warrior do, but they can use plunge to get back to the boss just as quick as we can
go for it :)
What do you mean in the 1st floor? Sorry i don't quite get what you mean...
Edit: ill do the editing later. Im outside and using my phone. Too much hassle.
the post still says:
"2. You may or may not save gl depending on where you end up in your rotation. Once the big missiles turn small and disappears this is pretty much indication to either use tornado kick or get that SP."
in regards to the first floor of alexander
Ahh yes thank you for the info. Will change it later
It's impossible to save GL in Alex 1 simply due to the amount of time he's in the air. However you can use Tornado Kick everytime he decides to fly away and become untargetable. Right after the 'nukes' hit the ground, you can do 2 GCD moves and then he'll fly into the air for a while. You're better off using Tornado Kick right at the 2nd GCD move so you at least get a burst in before he's untargetable.
Just like to point out that in A3, our drk times plunge to the extent that he doesn't get knocked back. It's literally him not moving.
Gear is out on http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/Monk
Seems weird how they've made Esoterics weapon compared to Savage weapon... Esoterics is better in every way pretty much. Also, SS ! woohoo -_-
EDIT: Well, that's guessing some on MNK's stat weights, but I think it's better, and either way, seems weird that it's the same ilvl and doesn't have like Crit/Det stats... to make it something worth farming A4(savage) for.
Maybe SS/Det outweights Crit/Det now, only time will tell
If crit isn't Monk's best stat now I'll eat my steam-punk, non-martial-artsy helmet.
I have a feeling its crit as well. I'm not entirely sold with skill speed but according to ariyala we can get 850 skill speed if we prioritize that in our build... I think someone did the math in a earlier posts about requiring certain amount of skill speed to have fracture uptime.
EDIT: found it thanks Zamii for the maths
Now that we have options what's everyone opinion on gear sets?
Also I agree on Crit being our #1 stat. I feel it's going to scale ridiculous with Bootshine and give us more damage potential when paired with IR.
DET not doing anything for AAs means Im not gonna worry about it. Crit for the win. SS might take over if you stack enough of it though. We'll have to see how our TP consumption is through all of the new content.
So, what Esoteric pieces are you going after first? Weapon takes 3 weeks, and that sucks, but it does give you a lot of DPS ofc... even though I hate that both our endgame weapons have high SS.
Where are you getting that DET doesn't do anything for auto attacks? They reduced it's effect on auto attacks, but increased it's stat allocation on pieces. Unless there's been some new math to show that it not longer benefits auto attacks this statement is inaccurate, but if you have some evidence to this then I'd appreciate it if you could link it to me so I can read over it.
For reference from the 3.0 patch notes:
The effect of determination on auto-attacks has been reduced.
It has just been reduced. Crit meanwhile got a buff, so all in all, they are pretty even I would guess.
SS is still not as strong as Crit/Det, and I don't think stacking it would really give you an increase in DPS. And if it does, you would probably lose that advantage because of running out of TP faster.
Thinking on going the weapon route 1st. I mean it's self explanatory as to why and no other item will give you that big of a increase not to mention allow smoother dps checks.
My only pev is its 990 like what is this extra 90 crap? Seems it's there juuuuuust to make it take 3 weeks.
With critical hit rate now increasing crit damage, does IR also increase crit damage?
Okay, I'm just gonna ask here just in case.
So my group went into Savage A1 yesterday and well I switched to Monk from Bard for expansion so I always feel like I do badly, and us wiping to enrage at 16/20% didn't help much. I was really wondering if you all had some tips for me on the fight. >_>
Need more details on your group comp and DPS that people were doing to really give any advice. Faust is a pretty crazy DPS check, and it appears that SE designed it so that most people will require a bit more gear before getting through. It's certainly not impossible to clear, but for most players is going to be quite difficult at the current gearing state. Just keep in mind that most people that went in to Savage A1 yesterday did not clear Faust because of this, and some others that did clear it did so by the skin of their teeth.
A1 accuracy for flank seems to be 570. With how coil was, it can be assumed that A4 acc will be about 600.

Does anyone have a good bis set? I've been fiddling and it seems that to hit around that acc, I have to get an enormous amout of SS :I
While aiming for Crit/Det puts me with too much acc.
