lawlz and that abortion on the top of the bow can be played like a harp?

From what Bayhone said, I think so yes.Quote:
The cover image featured on Connect-On consists of job concept art. The weapons each job is wielding are things we are planning to implement into the game. In regards to which job is what and what they equip, we'll leave that up to you and your imaginations for the time being.
It seems like the weapon that drew the most attention was the bow... I can tell you that it is in fact a bow that transforms.
A harp?
Probably not.
A lyre? Maybe.
I'll concede that the style of crossbow that I was thinking of is far different from the one you were thinking of. But an archer trained extensively in the long bow can still fire at a pretty fair rate, and one would hope with at least decent accuracy.
i just wanted to re-quote this just to make sure it really sinks in to everyone.Quote:

if it is a bow that transforms, and the mysterious shape looks very much like a LYRE, on to of whatever other evidence it might be Bard..... id say its most likely a bow with a shape reminiscent of a Lyre/Harp which is intended to keep the bows aesthetic cohesive to its other form. which in turn makes it useless while in bow form-its just for looks.
By transform, I'd assume that they mean in the same way the pickaxe transforms.
I mean there's a huge honking hinge that attaches the lower half of the bow to the instrument. How the device locks into position without coupling under the strain of the string, is a complete mystery, but I'm going to go ahead and say it's magic.
This, and pardon the crappy drawing i've done, but essentially this is my thoughts on how the "Barp" or "How" works.

yeah looks pretty accurate, i did essentialyl the same thing using the actual image, seems pretty harp/lyre stringed instrument like

Nice dude thats cool. I'm glad people are starting to get the concept ^^ never underestimate the power of a diagram.
EDIT: Do you think you can do one were the bottom half is a dagger instead of completing the other side? I think both of these "transformations" are valid at this point, I just wanna see for poops and giggles.
open that link... now click on the pic to zoom in, now hjold Control and turn you rmouse wheel to zoom in more... notice NO arrow heads... NO arrow tips... IF those are arrows they are only shafts lol... deal with it those arent arrows...
harp maybe
weird looking bow definitely
proof archer is gonna be arcbard not yet, but chances are your gonna have to live with it :p haha
That actually does look like a bow harp. You could say those are arrows, but the arrow that is on the bowstring is much longer than those so called spare arrows...
my god this is still going on?.... Its a polearm, and a bow.....
polearm? lol your on crack :p
Kind of sad that Bayohne revealed it's a Transformer, but didn't say if it's an Autobot or a Decepticon. Nice that we're starting to get pet classes though. Bit unexpected that they went with a robot. I'm guessing that the tiny red moon or the Garlean Empire has something to do with it.
It is a lyre shaped crossbow (after transformation) that fires magic "singing arrows/bolts" that enfeeble and debuff the enemy.
Remember that in XI it was crossbow bolts that enfeebled enemies whereas arrows mostly increased accuracy (although some did elemental damage). Archer "Job" could still be Ranger which grants you crossbow enfeeb abilities and if so, you would need to switch weapons easily and quickly.
Or else it's a BowHarp. I'm ok either way.
I just hope I dance a little jig if/when I sing.
Thank you for the well-drawn diagram.
Also the denial is amusing. Much more amusing are the accusations of it being a stupid idea.
It is most likely a bow that transforms into a lyre. I haven't seen anything else mentioned that is more likely to be the case based on any sort of solid reasoning or logic. Plenty of rationalizations for it not being a bow/lyre though, and very likely stemming from denial.
It isn't 100% proof, but it is definitely the most likely scenario at this point.
I for one sincerely hope it is in fact a weapon that transforms between bow and lyre, with Archer being the class that the Bard job stems from. Providing long range support in the form of DPS as well as buffs just sounds like a whole lot of fun to me. With Dragon Knight and Warrior basically being confirmed much more clearly in that picture than Bard perhaps, there really isn't going to be a necessary demand for MOAR ARC DPS, so having an Archer go Bard effectively reducing it's DPS ceiling but in turn having the ability to buff everyone on the team up or even debuff the enemy sounds much more appealing to me.
Bard is gonna be more than just sitting back and playing tunes during a whole fight. We get to snipe the enemies too?
Count me in.
After seeing that cover, I'm more excited about Bard than any other job.
It's not busting their balls for no reason.
It's busting their balls because, if that is in fact a bow-harp/lyre designed for a Bard class from Archer, this is a really bad idea in almost every conceivable way. Practically and lore-wise it makes no sense, and worse, it's an error in judgement for the implementation of the job system in that's it's trying to fit a job into a class where it doesn't belong. It's also just aesthetically stupid looking.
It's a quiver attached to a bow.

Or hell it might be some kind of compound bow mechanism done in FF style.
It's not.... impossible that it could be a harp, I guess. I mean there are gun/blades. And I remember something mentioned in lore somewhere about a gunhalberd.
We can't see the bottom of the bow so it is obviously hidden. What is hidden you ask? The spot you attach the strings when you stretch them out. Then you flip that bad boy over and play your fancy banjo.
if i recall correctly corsair was a buffer and had good dmg not as good as ranger but good enough, if they leave dmg on archer as it is, the job itself will be one of the best, best damage+buffs like haste, damage, accuracy, etc.
I dont think its such a bad idea, just weird because is the first time they do it, and maybe next time we'll get ranger.
But ok by me, keep it up.
All these posts about the bow harp remind me of this:

i can't decide what it is, i do think the posts on this thread are a good example of peoples attitudes on fourms though... you don't think it is what i think it it so here's a bunch of abuse where i could have put a meaningful and valid responce to support my view instead. such a shame cos this could have been good discussion too lol.
anyway, the way i see it is to not look at the weapon but look at the gear and work it out from there, it pretty obvious that these characters are wearing job specfic armor from other titles in the Final Fantasy series.
So lets see, is it the char that appears to holding said harp dressed like any bard you have seen in any FF games? Harp or not the answer to this question is no. it's obvious it is a extention to the bow but the char holdong the bow isn't dressed like any ranger i've seen either.
Find the job that used that style armor and you'll have your answer.
side note: i'm more conserned about the pair of legs with no body ^^
people thinking its a bow-harp didnt understand final fantasy philosophy... lol
i play final fantasy online because SE is the only one ( imo) to give job strong charisma
job is a specialisation of classes , so archer would become => archer+bard ? thats the opposite direction
For a new theory ( and since its a concept art + SE wanting to troll us ), i think this string system is an elaborated way to give more tension to the pulled string
some kind of complex idler system
i wont say you that you are stupid to think its a lyre or harp or what ever, open up your mind, and what could it be if not music instrument and not arrow quencher ( since they are to short to be actual arrow)
maybe al the jobs will have transformer weopons
bow into harp
pug into dragons/wolves, waht ever they are
lance into a scythe
sword into a light saber
It's a Ukulele, everyone knows that by know /facepalm
There is nothing wrong with a ranged debuff/buff class. There is something wrong with an archer bard.
Corsair made sense. It was a gambler and the buffs and debuffs included an element of chance, and the weapon was gun. All things that fit the gambler persona. The same cannot be said for an "archer bard." Musician and archer are completely different disciplines which have nothing to do with one another. It's silly and impractical to combine them.
I see the bow but whats the thing directly above it?
link had a sling shot, flute, sword bow, explosives, a bridge, a raft....a jack of many trades i suppose.
